Absolute fantastic process Barney. You are in the top 10% of techs . Many garages would not have been able to get this job done. You have a fantastic teacher Stay awesome 🙌
Spot on there Barney......your coming on great and your fantastic on camera talking through your work.......stick at it chap, you'll have skills for life!!!!!
Auto electrics, repairing the fault is 2 minutes, finding it tho... My initial scan with a walk in customer is "there's your fault codes, I can diagnose it further but you'll have to book it in and leave it here" You soon lose most the time wasters Fair play to you Barney you're a methodical lad
Good video Barney and well explained, although the VAG wiring diagrams are over so many pages they do try and keep it simple, every page in the top right corner actually tell you what that page covers, ie, modules and what system, module numbers, they also list the plugs and connectors with their own unique number that relates to that plug when it is shown on other drawings, details of the plug colour and how many terminals making it easier to follow. The VAG wiring diagrams are well laid out. Keep up the good work, you will never be out of a job, just goes to show what you gain out of a very Knowledgeable teacher.
I use vcds and different numbers for different cars same part The wiring diagram s are not user friendly. Great job you're as good as me with 35 year experience you are a natural thinker. I would go to dealership when they couldn't find problem. Most were quite easy to fix.
Class job. Well done and well explained Barney 🙂 You will go far however do not try to run tooooooooooooo quickly in that respect and stay grounded as your are. What counts is knowing what you don't know, not what you do! You have an excellent teacher so are very privileged !
Good find Barney - thats a common spot - don´t know what Informations System you use, but there "should" be a TSB for that Splice. At least in Germany there is.
I think VCDS and VAG diagrams are both awesome, but I’m used to them. My advice is embrace both and let yourself get familiar with them. Nicely done btw Barney. I think you went about that one in the most logical way possible. 👍
Great job Barney , but most of us don't have access to wiring diagrams ( auto data ) . . Bit more difficult . . Every job you do is another lesson in auto electrics and will help you as you move on . . Some times you find the fault straight away some times takes a bit longer . . Test meter is your best friend . . Ohh and don't forget load test the cable . . 21w bulb works for me . . Looking forward to your next case study
Well done Barney, it's the only way with a fault like that. I'm waiting for you guys to get a BMW E46 in with a K Bus fault. I have one and it is driving me nuts!
I changed the radio in my Rover 214 years ago. I noticed the rear window de-mister no longer worked??. Put the original radio back in and hey presto, rear window de-mister worked again 😂 Odd thing
A "Factory splice" on a car is "iffy" to say the least, especially when it's beside a fuse box. you'd think they would connect to a common terminal there? Not so much "Vorsprung Durch Technik" (Progress through Technology), More like "Vorsprung durch Bodge it"?
Barney, you'll never be out of a job, good electrical technicians will always be needed!!
he will be taking over rms one day🤞
Nice to see you are being yourself now and not trying to be Bob, you are doing a great job, well done.
he is becoming himself as was always going to happen, trying to be natural talking to a camara is hard but he has a good flow now
Excellent work mate, I know technicians double your age who would send that off to a specialist!

Great video but....As a diy er how do we access the wiring diagram?

we buy the data on subscription

Same on Photocopiers....

Not so much "Vorsprung Durch Technik" (Progress through Technology), More like "Vorsprung durch Bodge it"?
it’s not the best idea
You will speed up your diags the more you do , will save a lot of time stripping and testing , we have all done it, lol
it’s always the wrong end we start
You turned a lemon into a carrot 😛
he did, unfortunately for the customer the engine gave up on his drive home😳😳
Well done Barney
thanks
