    For sure, today's generation will appreciate what a newsreel looks like in the 50s/60s. I will recommend watching this newsreel from Manila Times-Daily Mirror.

      This "Manila Times-Daily Mirror Newsreel" was probably more of a one-off thing, or possibly they had a few other issues because I dont think this was an actual regular newsreel that was made for Filipino audiences.

    do you think they (the National Archives) have audio of his inauguration/oath of office?

      It’s possible but not in any of the films or records that’s currently digitised.

    May mga Filipino-language newsreel ba noong panahon na pinakita to?

    • @stupstickman
      @stupstickman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m sure meron rin mga Filipino language newsreels noon. Itong newreel/newfilm ay parang co-produced by the American USIS and was probably intended para sa American audience.

      Majority of the existing newsreels are in English, mainly because they were under the supervision or auspices of the Pathé News and Associated Press.
      While there might have been Tagalog newsreels that were made, pinakasikat na uri ng media ang radyo that time. Kaya it's possible na it's either rare, almost non-existent or not available to the public ang Tagalog reels.

    Malinis kaya ang eleksyon ng mga panahon na yan?

      Nang manalo si Magsaysay laban kay Quirino noong 1953, it was a normal percentage, so sa madaling sabi, fair and balanced.
      Magsaysay got 68.9% of votes while Quirino got 31.08%. By comparison, the biggest presidential election landslide in recent Philippine history was Marcos (58.77%) against Robredo (27.94%), with a voter turnout of 83.07%

      CIA-backed si Magsaysay and his election. The CIA even mentioned this in their files, now declassified.
