I really want to see more released for Claudie! More for the historical girlies in general honestly - I feel like there wasn’t that much new this year for them. I was just watching some older 2010s catalog flip throughs and miss the days where they each had 5-7 outfits. I agree that it’s an easier sell for a doll if she actually has stuff available to go with her!
@@agtwins7198 yes!! I just ordered a bunch of catalogues and I know it will make me sad to see how much attention used to be paid to the historical girlies!
The hair on your addy is beautiful. When I see you dress your dolls I want to pull out all my historical outfits and just dress everyone. I never thought to use that blue outfit on Melody. I would love to get Kirsten’s promise dress. Thanks for a fun video
@@nailahvenable7989 Addy's hair is gorgeous & so fun to play with! I just took it out of the factory style right before this video. I was so nervous about it because I didn't want to "ruin" her factory look, but I'm so glad I did. It's been so fun putting in different hairstyles!
This is a great video. Did you know that headband you put on Claudie is known to stain her forehead? Just and FYI. I agree about the books. It promotes reading and also gives people an understanding of the meaning behind the historical dolls.😊
@@djackson4462 I have heard that! I have been checking her forehead all month (this was filmed at the beginning of October) and so far, so good! I just bought this outfit recently, so I wonder if they changed the formula.
The original historical lines were for ages 8 and up because of the historical settings. The 18 inch dolls are now 6 and up because of the quality of the dolls verses understanding history. American Girl is a place where people shop for dolls, clothes, etc. It is not an environment where people go to look for books. Many books were unread. The graphic novels have the visual appeal to draw in readers. It is a way to inspire children to actually read the books because they weren’t reading the full novels as purchased through AG.
I have gotten younger version of the stories at the AG store for younger kids and they are great. My granddaughter loves graphic novels. It is great for any child as kids today seem to have shorter attention span since they are on computers a lot and are getting used to receiving information in short burst.
Oh my god I was gonna say this too! Like, Felicity’s and maybe music that would have been played at the ball, or Kaya’s with traditional instruments, or examples of Swedish for Kirsten, 3D models of artifacts. An app would be so cool for this! Honestly, as a kid, sometimes I would skip to the back and go through the peak into the past section first cause I was a history nerd 😂
American Girl’s Harlem Fashion Row outfits for Claudie are inspired by Harlem fashions in the 1920’s. They were based on what adult women wore in the entertainment/club environment. The adults in entertainment and arts created the greatest impact on life in Harlem during the Renaissance. They are in no way reflective of what 10 year olds would wear. I have a TM 58 I use for the 1920’s. I made her a few more dresses for the 1920’s. I would love to see more appropriate clothes and accessories for the 10 year olds living in the Harlem community.
@@TrobertABQ from the research I've done, the HFR outfits are not intended to be historically accurate, not even of women's wear. Which they're not, the hem lines are way too high to be accurate, for example. The collection is "inspired by" the 1920s. But regardless, more clothes for Claudie please!
Dude, I LOVED the (character)’s craftbook and cookbooks! They were so cool. If I’m remembering right, they only had the first 6? But I’d love to see ones made for the other historical characters
@@mandymagnolia1966 I think Kit had a cooking studio, which was similar to the cookbook. But regardless, I would love that too! Especially with how funky some of the mid-century foods were, I would love to see what they would add for Maryellen and Melody!
@@FixMyAGDoll I do vaguely remember Kit’s cooking studio. They kinda looked like the (I think) coloring books 🤔 but Melody and Maryellen cookbooks would be hilarious 🤣 my maternal grandma would have been a kid to early teen in the 50s so I think it would be funny to go and see if they made any of them. I will say, I know some people don’t like the more “modern” historical girls, but I think they’re interesting to open up dialogues with older family members. My mom was young in the 70s (would have been a couple years younger than Julie in ‘74) and when she was released my mom went “oh god, yeah, that’s stuff we would have worn” 🤣 she said we couldn’t get her cause she didn’t need the reminder of the horrible things she wore as a kid. Even my dad would look through it and talk about friends or family that had a bathroom like Julie’s, or the hanging beads in their doorway like the ones she had I think on her bed
@@mandymagnolia1966 that's so sweet! I totally agree with you. If I remember correctly, that was part of the reason they made Molly in 1986- to connect kids to their grandparents. It is such a great way to open up a dialogue! My mom is between a Julie and Courtney, but she grew up in Poland so none of the fashions really resonate with her lol. Very different styles across the ocean back then!
I totally agree on your hopes for the historical collection! I desperately want more “core” outfits for the newer historicals, especially Claudie who needs more 1920s accurate stuff! My ultimate dream, along with a return to the world books, is to see scenes & settings for all of the newer characters.
