    I had 1 in 2010, same color, same 5.2, muffler delete and an ebay CAI, lol, my NOW grown children STILL remember that vehicle, they used to love it when I picked them up from grammar school, "make it loud daddy", 😂 good times!!! Those seats were probably the most comfortable seats ever!!!

      Yeah, with this seats it's like sitting down on your couch in the living room.
      When my girlfriend arrives home with the car, the windows vibrate - with a Walker quiet flow exhaust ->
      I sure know why your kids had so much fun with a muffler delete on it. 😂

    i Always loved the 80s to early 2000s jeeps they were the last true jeeps that had the comfort for daily use and this is no exeption cars like the wagoneer the wrangler the Cjs and the Cherokee line up were something else those were built like tanks just like their WW2 counterparts

    • @Fredward_K
      @Fredward_K  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Unfortunately, many of them were used up/misused because of this tank-like repuation -> No rust prevention, no maintenance, just heavy towing and mud parties.
      Apart from possible electronical gremlins and the desolate rust prevention and in some areas not very well thought-out engineering -> they are fairly durable and realiable.
      The ZJ/ZG is an excellent and comfortable travel vehicle. No matter what weather or road surface.

    You have done a great job and the Jeep looks fantastic! I previously owned three of these myself, one from 1998 in stock condition and two from 1997 all with the 5.2 l V8. Today I have only two left though I had to sell the stock -98 and none of the ones I have left are in stock condition. One is highly modified as I use it for offroad driving and one that now is my daily driver is only slightly modified with a 3 inch lift, adjustable control arms and trackbars, other coil springs, shocks, sway bars and some strong rockslides. But when I see yours I start to consider buying one more just to have a stock in this very good condition!

    U might want to check the dist pickup coli wires (three) exiting the mid-section of dist. The insultation was shot on mine (brittle and missing), and the three wires were exposed for about 3cm -- and soaked in black crud. The same was true of the CPS, where the plug leads were bare and touching -- causing the classic CPS issue (sensor itself was good). I replaced both. Otherwise, super nice -- and rare -- vehicle. 😎

    • @Fredward_K
      @Fredward_K  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Many thanks for your Input. Never thought of checking this. Even though while I changed the CPS I worked in this exact area. I only did the CPS to prevent any issues with the old one in the middle of nowhere. While I did this I cleaned the wiring of the ECU and CPS, treated the contacts with contact spray and protected the wires with new cotton tape and plastic tubing. But I missed checking (cleaning and protecting) the Distributor wires that are also hidden between engine and fire wall like the CPS wires. Not even while servicing the ignition I thought about these wires... Thank you. Will definitely check. :)

    Beautiful example, my dad had one while I was growing up and we are considering getting it back. What are the tyre sizes btw?

    • @Fredward_K
      @Fredward_K  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Its the standard tire size for the Facelift Model 225 70 R16
      The other wheelset - Unitec EtaBeta 6A are 17" (2:56) here I want to get tires in 255 60 R17

    • @goncalolourenco6989
      @goncalolourenco6989 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Fredward_K they look wider on the video but the 255 will definitely look even better. Ours used to have 275 just for the looks but I think the new owner changed it to 225 to pass MOT. I'll have to find which wheel/tire combos are legal from factory.

    • @Fredward_K
      @Fredward_K  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@goncalolourenco6989 I feel the same. The Cooper Discoverer AT3 does look a bit wider. I really like the the look of these tires. Especially with the white lettering. They wet grip is also pretty decent for AT Tires. And they are quiet like street winter tires.
      I think 275 55 R16 is the widest and biggest size for the factory 16" Rims (Y Spokes or 5.9er Five Star). Wider tires are not really possbile for 7" wide rims. And for the hight you will probably need 2" lift.
      Popular bigger tires are 245 70 R16 or 255 65 R16. For these there is a bit of trimming needed on the front fascia. And maybe the steering has to be adjusted otherwise they will rub on the lower control Arm. They shouldn't be that big of an issue to legalize.
      7"x16" Rims (Y-Spoke and 5.9L 5-Star) has from factory only one size -> 225 70 R16
      Grand Cherokee with 7x15" Rim (e.g. Canyon) came in different sizes from factory:
      -> 215 75 R15
      -> 225 75 R15
      -> 245 75 R15
      There is a sticker in the glove compartment for these different facroty tires sizes (and tire pressures). But the smallest tire size the specific car is legal to run is written on the stricker in the drivers door.

      @@goncalolourenco6989 you are welcome. :)
      With 15" (Canyon or Snowflakes) you could get the factory 245 75 R15. A bit wider but nearly the same overall size as 225 70 R16 (with Y Spokes or 5Stars). Bonus with these sizes the spare tire cover will still fit.

    Hi, I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee and it started to have this grinding/noise in the rear end. So I took it to a repair shop and they replaced the carrier bearing, but I am not sure if both. But now it's making a owl-howling noise whooooo at 55 plus it's more louder, when you let off the gas it goes away and then apply gas it's back and getting louder past 60- 65 mph, seems like it's coming from the rear shaft or diff have you had this problem? Thanks

    • @Fredward_K
      @Fredward_K  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Wrong pinon gear preload / Ring gear backleash. Overhauling the differential is a task that requires a lot of experience. Unfortunately, not every workshop has that... Get a Master Overhaul kit (Yukon/Timken)
      Find an experienced workshop that can overhaul your differential properly and professionally. If you continue to drive like this it will just get more expensive because you will then also need a new pinion and ring.

    Why did you have to have the driveshafts balanced?

    • @Fredward_K
      @Fredward_K  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Because I thought new parts -> new weights.
      To true them, both shafts needed weights in different locations then the old factory ones. So my thought was not that wrong.
      It's like putting a new tire of the same type on the same rim. Even though you orient it the same as the old one -> It will never be true. They are slightly different.
      Ok rubber tieres varies more then drive shaft links, but the driveshaft also rotates (in this case) 3.73 times faster then the wheels.

       @evgeni131 I've thought about it - more than once...
      But since my other car (E34) has no dents after a complete repaint...
      I wanted to spend four weeks with it in the paint shop. In the end it had been almost a year. I then even painted the subframe and the entire underbody, 3 weeks of polishing... And after all this work, I now see myself taking care of the vehicle to a completely different levelth-cam.com/video/lV5yFHI2LLI/w-d-xo.html&t
      I'm hesitant to head with the Jeep in that direction - I'd rather keep those few dents and deep scratches.
      Since I once bought this car as an “adventure” vehicle, and a nice 4x4 for alpine winters.
      But maybe one day I'll do it anyway...?! Really just the Dents.

      @@evgeni131 You're welcome. :) :) :)
      I brought my E34 back in 2013. It was my very first car. The E34 has been my dream car since I was a child. I was lucky because when I brought it, the E34 was considered a regular old BMW, so it wasn't that expensive, espessially because it's "just" a 520i with the M50B20TU. But it was in good condition, had all the options I was looking for and I really like this color (Fjordgrau)...
      But I still (until today) dream of a 540i with a 6-speed manual. Especially when I got to ride in one at a car meet...
      However, they are very rare and their prices have increased much earlier... Since they are also a bit more expensive to maintain, I couldn't afford one back then as a student with part-time jobs anyway... And with the encreased prices of today, any additinol E34 will remain a dream...
      I really like the alpes it's the home of my choice since a few years now.
      Advice for a nice tour through Tirol:
      Alte Brennerstraße -> Kühtaisattel -> Ötztaler Gletscherstraße -> Trimmelsjoch (crosses boarder to italy) -> Jaufenpass (back to Tirol)
      And bit further West near Ischgl is the
      Silvretta-Hochalpenstraße. This is also really really nice.
      There are many options. Kärtnen and Steirmark is also really nice. And not only Austrian Alps. South Tirol is also really nice -> the Dolomites.
      I still want to drive the Route de grandes alpes. Starts in geneva switzerland and ends in Nice on the french Rivera. Nealy 700km - 21 alpine passes through the french alps - but this is like a two week trip just for the route.
