    Had my Kat Walk C2 for 8 months now and I'm loving it. I don't mind if everything isn't perfect, but these things just add a whole new level of immersion to games by removing all the need for being aware of any other surroundings except those in the game. You can totally forget running head first into a wall or knocking down your TV. Liberation once step further.
    It's a great workout too.

      I'm jealous! Its just so pricey, especially where i am from. But its on my list. Hopefully by the time i have enough money they would have designed something better

      Does it support strafing? Last time I checked VR treadmills none of them did and the ability to side step is pretty important.

    • @walluvalkama3927
      @walluvalkama3927 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jimmydesouza4375 You can strafe by sliding your foot from the side, but it is quite diffucult and not very natural. But you'll have decoupled body and head movements, so you can run sideways and watch the other way.

    had one for a while now. making sure the surface is properly lubricated helps a lot. makes it easier to walk. there are also some mods for the shoes such as adding additional strips to the bottom. after enough time you wont be leaning forward and walking will feel more natural (takes a few hours)

    The walking backwards issue is just for the c2 core vecause the support beam thingy is further forward than the other models

  • @chanceturcotte
    @chanceturcotte 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    Man, this is bringing back bad memories when I used to use the C2 tracking. You have to really drag your feet. If you ever have a chance to use smooth shoes and baby oil on the platform with C1 tracking, try it. You will love it so much more. I usually just play in winter when I mostly have time off work and I crush the distance records. I have double the double the distance of the person in second place. I use 20 lb ankle weights which makes the walking actually feel more like walking, while also increasing the quality of the workout. It works better to add physical weight to your legs instead of trying to tweak the software to make running more challenging.

  • @dimwis
    @dimwis 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    You're putting the harness too high (more to the stomach rather the waist), the major probable cause of nausea and weird position of walking (all three users in this video looked doing the same mistake). The best harness position is putting the back side of the belt on top of your waist (lower side of your back), and make a 30/45 ish degrees downward to below the waist on the front.

    • @Zulushi
      @Zulushi  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The harness rested on top of my hip bones during most of my testing, which is where it's intended to sit. I think the low camera angle makes it look higher too. I also played around with the strap position quite a bit, and the position in the video was the most comfortable!

  • @gregozzello4688

    1 1/2 hours isnt all that lengthy when you consider what it is. People are just used to too much on demand. I'd rather set this up than anything from Ikea lolol! And once its been set up a couple times, set up time goes down as experience of use goes up. 1 1/2 hours tells me the user is getting acquainted with the technology, which is a pro, not a con.
    The real con, for me is being fooled into buying yet another copy of skyrim lolol!
    I'll bet it makes walking around in Power Armor seem real tho😅

  • @chanceturcotte
    @chanceturcotte 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    The other thing you can do with the C1 is use the steam natural locomotion jump mod, which works better, and actually causes a jump to trigger the jump physical button on the controller. Anytime your feet leave the platform on the C2, you stop moving, because of the analog tracking.

  • @july172

    The holiday bundle for the kat walk c2 is a no brainer. You get a free sit, free two year warranty and a discount at checkout. Yea is doesnt have the haptic or cool lights but are you going to use a headset anyway ? And for the haptic that is just a option not a big deal. If it comes w the seat then ill save myself $500. Plus the core is taller so you can crouch or jumo more efficiently.

  • @sefin84
    @sefin84 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    bought one and I have mixed feelings as well.
    Imho it is suitable only on single player games with slower movement.
    it isnt like you cant run fast with threadmill because you can! BUT side step or going bacwards is so hard to pull of effectively that you have so switch it for thumbstick movement otherwise it isnt effective. It also does not usually reflect your position perfectly.
    So far I would say the best experience was with HL Alyx. It is the future but it isnt there yet.
    And the noise is really bad. Dont even think about using it at "night"

    • @pixelfairy

      Maybe the c2 is different but I side step and run backwards all the time. Get used to it and you don't have to think about it. I play borderlands in it and sometimes attack while running. Sometimes while running backwards.

    The C2 shoes are terrible. The C1 shoes, once you tear them down to the blue smooth surface, or ideal. The C2 shoes are bulkier, and the roller starts to hurt the ball of your feet. When you get into 4-Hour+ sessions like me, you really start to notice it.

    This contraption would make more sense if you were suspended in mid air it takes away the natural feeling of walking which conserves Energy it saves damage to the board as one isn't needed and noise reduction ,and you can still run or walk with your legs by mimicking walking whilst in suspension ,you could be held in suspension in a much more natural stress relieving way for your body , you'd just need extra sensors between shoes and receiver , I don't know tech but just an idea

  • @egrintarg230

    Well maybe you could benefit from some actual gym time. Get a jump rope for starters. Work your legs with weights and stuff. Get a cool mountain bike and try riding uphill. Work those legs IRL and then think of your VR time as just part of your exercise program. You will be amazed by how much your heart health will improve. If you have been just gaming and doing computer stuff then of course this wore you out. Muscle tissue goes away when you either don't use it or don't get enough protein. Gotta get in shape for this.

    • @zhulikkulik
      @zhulikkulik หลายเดือนก่อน

      Idk. I'm fat, but *walking* 5km is nothing for me. I think part of the reason why it's so sweat inducing (does this make sense?) is because it's really uncomfortable. But maybe also he did more like a 5km jog.

    All I’m going to say is that this is putting the cart before the horse. VR immersion and fidelity is just not there. Sure, doing a flight sim or maybe a racing game is much better, but walking around in an environment and “really feeling like your there hasn’t arrived! Maybe in a decade or two. 3D mapping, sound matching visual to real life timing wise will need to be in place. We’re way closer than we were 20 years ago, but we are only halfway!
