Great story (and story telling). After the build up and seeing the somewhat overexposed video clip of the lynx, I wasn't really expecting super high quality images of it. Then the first photo popped up it absolutely stopped me in my tracks. Phenomenal!

Wow that sound the Lynx make is freaky! I reckon if I heard that in the wild by myself I'd be pretty scared. Well done on getting your bucket list shots, I learned early on in birding to keep my ears open and learn their calls as it is one of the best ways to find the subject.

Excellent video Cameron, I was the one that suggested you try Denoise Ai and I am glad you like it as much as I do. When you are in Lightroom if you right click on the image and go to edit in Denoise Ai and run your raw image through the software it works much faster. With some of your lower ISO imags try the Ai Clear that is part of Ai Denoise, it does an incredible job of cleaning up the image. I also have the Topaz Sharpen Ai but I don't recommend it. It does a fairly good job but I find it sometimes is too harsh and if you think Denoise is slow you definitely won't like it. Incredible images of the Lynx!!

Dude! Getting those Lynx images is one of those opportunities you really don't get very often!
Here in the UK we don't really have any large predatory animals, but I love photographing Deer. We have Fallow Deer roaming the forests not too far from where I live so I'll travel there quite often. But I had one of those moments of connection with a large Fallow Buck last year. Late in the day, ISO cranked up and a handful of shots and the big buck wandered off, but was completely accepting of my presence.
So, yeah, I completely understand what it's like when you have one of the incredibly rare wildlife moments. But I'd love to get to Alaska for some wildlife photography. Bears and Wolves are creatures I'd absolutely love to photograph!
Topaz DeNoise AI is incredible! You may have swayed me! That really is incredible!
Take care Cameron, love watching your videos!

@@cameronroxberry7014 if you ever find yourself heading to the UK I'd be happy to show you to some wild areas where the Fallow Deer roam. I'm looking forward to September/October time when the rut gets going!
I'll definitely check out Topaz, it looks incredible! The adjustments it makes just aren't adjustment you can make in Lightroom or Photoshop. Unless perhaps you have many hours and lots patience to throw at it.
Cheers Cameron. The first vlog I made was of the Fallow Deer in the Wyre Forest. I'm looking forward to getting back there 👍

Your excitement is infectious. I can fully appreciate how you felt in that situation. I remember the first time I got some quality time with an otter here in Wales. Maybe not as impressive as a Lynx but a bucket list animal in my life. I too was struggling with the light and the images I got were grainy due to the extreme conditions and the camera body I was using at the time. I still love those images though.
I have heard very good reports of that Topaz Denoise app, it looks just what I need to reprocess my otter images.
It just goes to show that it always pays to be prepared and remain alert to any potential possibilities. It could have been so easy to have been packed up and be driving out with the car windows up and that moment that has given you so much enjoyment and satisfaction would have been missed.
Great images. I particularly like the cat walking away and showing the pad of its foot. That will make a great editorial image.
    Take care.

Congratulations on some amazing captures! Getting 'the shot' is a feeling that is sort to explain to someone, but I know EXACTLY what you mean. I just wish it would happen more often. ;) I too use Topaz, but I use Sharpen AI, which also does an insanely amazing job of sharpening those just-missed-it images while also doing a stunning job at noise reduction. I can't find enough info on whether I should be using both, or one (DeNoise/Sharpen AI) over the other. I should a d500, and would also never use ISO4000, and usually anything over 1600 I frown upon, but that Topaz software has been a God-send for noise. Thank you for taking the underestimated time to create, edit, produce and share your experience in a professional, entertaining, and educational manner. WELL DONE!!

@Cameron Roxberry Such a great shot (shots really) and experience, congratulations! FYI I started using Topaz a couple months ago and its amazing. Just as a heads up for you, and anyone else reading, though I only have a 20mp sensor my pics only take about 30-45 seconds to Denoise so dont get discouraged by the times. I think I have 24gb of RAM in my iMac so I think that really helps, but just letting you and others know it doesn't always have to take those 7 minutes a shot.
Again, super happy to hear about that experience!

For the Denoise, you can actually plug it into Lightroom and then you just have to right click on your image then select edit in and it will through it into Denoise as a tiff (default) all you gotta do is Open Lightroom Preferences to the Additional External Editors window. then go to choose, then choose denoise

As a time saver, it also works as a plug in loaded into Lightroom and PS. While working on the RAW image you would go to Photo/Edit In and select Topaz Denoise AI. It opens it for you and is as seamless as going from LR to PS. Huge time saver and you are still working with RAW. It saves as a TIFF when you go back to LR.

Hi Cameron, I want to start by saying nice channel! You do excellent work! As a fellow Nikon shooter (I'm using a Z7, same sensor as the d850) I just wanted to let you know that the sensor on the D850 is ISO invariant after about ISO400. Essentially what this means is that lifting exposure/shadows in post is identical to raising your ISO in the field. Look into ISO Invariance I think it will probably change the way you shoot. Keep up the good work!

So nice and great photos of the Lynx. I love these videos, they are great inspiration..... I got into wildlife photographing last year, when I went to Canada, I decided to buy a sigma 150-600mm for the trip. which was a very good decision, although I have no idea how to top that trip. started off with some great shots of humpback and orcas. Check your setup. Normally in the Develop Module, R click on the image, Edit In, DeNoise Ai, it comes up and after processing and you save the image it should go back to LR next to the original image. It takes less than 2 minutes. I have Sharpen 'Ai and don't use it. It seems to me to be a more difficult to use Denoise Ai. More times than not I add a little more sharpening in DeNoise than the base 15%. Love the lynx snaps and the eagles in the latest video.

Hei! Nice one. Why don't you just right click on the image and edit in topaz denoise AI? You can do it from LR. It's amazing piece of software. I tested it with 12800 iso on d500 and it made the picture so god damn good that you literally couldn't find any noise. It doesn't always work but in most cases it does a great job removing noise and sharpening an image.
