I’m confident in saying that Made in Abyss has one of the best soundtracks in all of anime. Takeshi Saito’s voice is literally unbelievable, especially in VOH. There’s actually a lot of opera in Made in Abyss, with like Old Stories and Transcendence & Caradhina. Also the lyrics are actually a language from the anime, used by the people in the abyss, so it’s very interesting. Really glad you seem to be enjoying the anime music.
Reading the synapse of the story before featuring anything from it is a thing, maybe a comment suggesting it explained it and he read the whole thing "by accident". And it's not exactly a miracle to just guess that 2 characters together climbing and it doesn't look brutal - something about a journey of these 2 together. I'd understand "guiding" if there was any, instead there's only wild goose chase, they both don't know when or where they're going to find her mother, or reg his origin, but they keep going deeper, without much guidance, so if you payed attention - he didn't guess correctly, story is full of lack of guidance, kids are just trying to survive in a world where going 10 meters up is going to either make your head spin or brutally mutilate you depending on height you're on. You're just letting him put words in your mouth at this point.
@@alpha-tomahawk532 Bro, you have some issues. Of course it was possible that he read the synopsis or even watched the show beforehand. In the same way that it is possible that he really didn´t know anything about it. There is no way for me to know for sure and I don´t really care. That is why I chose sarcasm and called it wizardry, aka something that is not real from my point of view. @@alpha-tomahawk532Well despite Reg not having his memories he still is guiding Riko as Lyza instructed her to, he also guided Lyza at some point. Plus the whole story is following the footsteps to achieve something greater especially when it comes to the white whistles. Besides music really does tell a story, and while it's hard to describe the music really does fit the trends in music when creating pieces for journey and adventure, the fact that it starts innocently and gently along with the cover being 2 kids and then it builds up into almost an anxiety inducing composition, would definitely let you guess this story is filled with perilous scenarios that are unearthly. I'm fairly certain anyone who is musically trained and shown this cover art + song would be able to at least broadly figure out the plot. Idk how to tell you this but generally good OST's are evocative of the overarching story. Just cause you can't fathom it doesn't it isn't possible loll

The soundtracks from Made in Abyss are absolute masterpieces. I love your breakdown of the song and the details/explanations you went into. If you're planning to do more of these, you've got my sub, that's for sure.
I love how the music and your interpretation captured the show really well. A robot boy and a girl walk into this dangerous but exciting adventure finding the most sorrowful and beautiful things along the way. One thing that I really liked was you talking about how "exposed" part of it feels. It's very likely to evoke the idea of diving into this huge hole that is the Abyss itself. I'm glad you did this, I've been waiting for this even since you reviewed the first anime song back on the main channel lol.
What I love about the made in abyss ost is that the composer. Kevin Penkin, is able to capture the world of made in abyss as it is both beautiful yet haunting
I really like the way you describe the emotion in the song and the feeling it gives! If you didn't know, the show is about some children, one born outside of a massive hole in the ground called the "abyss" and one who came from the abyss. They both descend into it in search of answers about themselves, or their family since one child's mother was lost in the abyss. The premise of the hole is that the farther down you go, the harder a toll coming back up takes on you. For example it might just be nausea or a nosebleed early on, but ascending from lower depths can even strip your humanity from you. I always felt that once that "danger" enters the song it represents the switch from it being a childlike adventure in search of discovery to becoming a dangerous journey they need to stay strong and fight through in order to find what they've committed to finding in the depths of the abyss once they've gone too far to return. Your interpretation was on point with that much and I really appreciate how much you attune yourself to the feelings the song gave you!
Loved the breakdown and video Marco, always happy to get a new notification from either of your channels and I hope you check out more from the MiA OST
YEAAHHHHHHH!!! Ok, now that thats out of my system, please check out Trancendence and Hanezeve, it is a piece that plays much later (this one is at the end of E1, Transcendence is played halfway through the 3rd movie, basically Season 1.5), and as the name implies has a piece of Hanezeve Caradahina altered and used in the second half of the song, which has a completely different feeling to it. Also the usage is important because This one is played while things are still happy over a sunrise scene, a Dawn, and transcendence lets just say _has to do_ with a character who has the title “Sovereign of Dawn”, and also another who’s name literally translates to “flower of dawn.”
Yesss, the made in abyss ost is goooood. Kevin Penkin is such a special composer, Transcendance and Hanezeve would be the "continuation" to this song....
Made in Abyss is a rollercoaster, and this ost really capture it; innocence, curiosity, obsession, madness, and consequences. you should check Takeshi Saito's acoustic version cover too on his channel
Made in Abyss has such a beautiful OST. Like, just about every time I hear it's music pop up, it takes me completely out of whatever I'm doing and steals all my attention until it finishes.
MiA is one of the series that I just have to give props to for the sound quality and osts. It gave me one of the best experiences anime could’ve given to me, something that a manga simply cannot do for me
Your interpretations of the music are so apt, man, it's crazy. If you haven't watched Made in Abyss, do it. I swear that anime gave me some sort of PTSD and pretty much all of the songs from the end of season one wrench my soul out of my eyes.
Kevin Penkin is a genius and I'm so glad I got to hear your review! After watching hundreds of anime over the last twenty years I can say to me, made in abyss encapsulates the the most pure essence of thematic wonderment of the unknown and adventure. This is such a beautiful song, and hearing you hit upon the themes of the show so acutely, the themes of discovery, incompleteness, danger, the descent into madness, makes me appreciate it all the more. Whole soundtrack really is gorgeous, but I really appreciate the composer naming one track after a fandom meme, "The Rumble of Scientific Triumph." Better yet, said track is one of the greatest. Y'know, hearing some of your thoughts on this song, and particularly the vocalization, makes me really interested to hear your thoughts on the song Red:birthmark

I'd recommend VOH, Transcendence and Hanezeve or Old Stories if you want to react to more of Kevin's stuff. I also think Prushka Sequence is really underrated. Oh yeah, Underground River (the opening version) is incredible too. Actually I think that would be a great choice since that track has really beautiful lyrics. They're in English too, not the made-up abyss language.
Hey Marco, I had left a comment on one of your previous videos asking you to react to this so I'm glad to see it happen so soon! Thanks for another great video, I'm glad you enjoyed the song, Kevin Penkin really did a fantastic job on this one!
I love listening to musician's break down the story based on the music. You were pretty spot on: this anime follows two characters as the descend a large pit. One character is a robot, so he needs to protect his friend as he guides her down. The story also gets extremely dark.
Absolutely recommend VOH or "Old Stories" from Season 2 as both were genuinely wonderful pieces that I'd constantly replay clips just to hear certain parts. Secondarily from the movie, I recommend "Rumble of Scientific Triumph" which has the funniest lil story behind it having been a translation note for the SFX. Genuinely Made in Abyss has an amazing OST that I am excited to hopefully see more reactions for as it's always a treat seeing someone's first impression of Kevin Penkin's works. And if you get the chance, recommend another show he was brought on to do the music for being Wolf and Spice.

Made in Abyys has so much material for analysis im happy that you can listen this
Loved the breakdown and video Marco, always happy to get a new notification from either of your channels and I hope you check out more from the MiA OST
Those first three notes always get me. There hasn’t been a single time I listen to this song without getting chills at the beginning and through it.
"Sounds like tears" you have no idea. this anime has left me in shambles more than a few times
It does sound like tears, and it made me think about that scene where they say goodbye to Marulk
THANK YOU, I REMEMBER ASKING FOR THIS!!!!
Marco, this anime is in my top 5. The world building is so great! I hope you'll watch it.
Yesss, the made in abyss ost is goooood. Kevin Penkin is such a special composer, Transcendance and Hanezeve would be the "continuation" to this song....
vocal-wise you'll probably will be interested in "VOH" from the same anime. vocals in it are insane!
I'm SO GLAD you did this one! There's so much to this soundtrack. 💜
Made in Abyss is a rollercoaster, and this ost really capture it; innocence, curiosity, obsession, madness, and consequences.
you should check Takeshi Saito's acoustic version cover too on his channel
"Guiding a friend through madness". Yep, that's pretty spot on. Season 2 is...well, left me traumatized from the manga.
Marco I'm so mad I only just found out you had this channel too! Time to binge all my fave anime track reactions!
Omg, I've been waiting for you to react to this for so long!
"Hunter x Hunter - Theme of Kage & RASETSU" would be right up your alley and an amazing reaction
He's a wizard man, dude is so freaking accurate just by hearing an OST.
Made in Abyss has such a beautiful OST. Like, just about every time I hear it's music pop up, it takes me completely out of whatever I'm doing and steals all my attention until it finishes.
I almost every video i saw from you, I'm stunt with the capacity of figured out some plot, some intention, just WOW, amazing Marco
I'd say I'd recommend the series but it has a lot of brutality later so I can't say its for everyone but man is it an amazing mystery of a story!
This is one of if not the most Beautiful piece of anime music i have ever heard!
Holy shit you have no idea how hyped I am for Made in Abyss reactions, its my favourite anime :3
so happy u reacted to this and hope u continue listening to Kevin Penkin music he is a really good composer , u should also check old stories one of his best works
Oh boy, anything Kevin Penkin has a hand in is amazing. One of my favorite composers. Excited for you getting to experience their music for the first time.
Man... you gotta just go watch this show already! haha
Love your interactions with this soundtrack. These are awe inspiring songs
I just listened to this earlier and thought of you and this channel, I swear you have listened to it before on a stream but regardless if you have or not it's a great soundtrack so a video on it is very welcome.
I'd also check out the track "Tomorrow" from this show. It has a really beautiful vocal performance in the latter half
I'm so happy that you listened to Made in Abyss now I've got to recommend (Transcendence and Hanezeve) or (The Rumble of Scientific Triumph) from Made in Abyss Dawn of The Deep Soul. Now you're stuck in the rabbit hole of Made in Abyss's music because all of the OSTs from the entirety of the series is just simply beautiful all of it
Love the name on your new channel, I didn't know you had a second one even but I like anime music as much as videogame music so I'll sub. Also MAde in abyss Seasons 1 and especially Season 2 traumatized me for like 3 three days and I couldn't even sleep.
So glad you actually got to hear this masterpiece, here's a list of other songs you should check out:
Sëgûr
The First Layer
Old Stories
Nature Sequence
Gravity
Awesome to see you react to this! I'm a big Kevin Penkin fan so I'm biased, but I would love to see you react to more of his work in the future!
i love made in abyss music, so it was wonderful seeing you enjoy this composition 🥹 others have commented similar things but it may be worth checking out VOH or Transcendence and Hanazeve!
This is easily there at the top of my fav ost in the entire anime industry no joke.
Made in abyss is full of beauty, mistery, horror but also hope and wishes, please if you watch it don't get scared by the stuff you'll see because the story deserves it, the world deserves it, the characters deserves it, it just so perfect.
yesssssssssss
i am a currently depressed (going through a break up yayyyyy) made in abyss fan, thanks for contributing to helping make it a little better
May your heart heal well. 🙏
Made in abyss has my favorites ost of all time. So glad you listed to this. You need to listen to Voh and old stories. They will blow your mind. I also did recommend this in Gurren lagann video so it make me happy to see you react to made in abyss.
Fun fact: Kevin Penkin (the composer) has also composed, with Emi Evans singing, for one of the episodes of the first season of star wars visions
I recommend giving a listen to it
Begging for you to listen to Old Stories, from the same show. Absolutely gorgeous piece that never fails to make me tear up
Hell yeah. Best anime, best composer and best piece of music he created for this anime (in my personal opinion).
Omg freaking amazing you listened to Hanezeve Caradhina I can't wait to press play hooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooly
So many of the songs from Made in Abyss are absolutely amazing! I highly recommend checking out more of them (examples: VOH, Old Stories, Transcendence and Hanezeve).
im so happy right now, cant wait for the rest
please keep going with made in abyss music, some of the best i have found in a while
Kevin Penkin is one of my favorite anime composers. He always know what to do with motives, simple tones, rhythm. Hope you some day say your thoughts about Old Stories from 2nd season of made in abyss
Made in abyss has my favorite ost ever (especially the movies)😭
Made in abyss is such an incredible show, not at the liking of everybody but the music is the best i know of, particularly VOH and tozo hanoline. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
So glad that you discover this world.😊
Very awesome video as always! I would love to see you react to Old Stories from season 2 of Made in Abyss. It's one of my favourite pieces of music in general.
Please more Made in Abyss!! I beg 🙏
VOH especially. Definitely my favorite song in the soundtrack.
Every time I see a rising sun, I think of this song, because of the anime and the reveal in the first episode.
You've found the rabbit hole that is the Made in Abyss OST. Buckle up, because it's a hell of a ride.
Wow this ost has such a pavlovian effect on me. Can't not tear up listening to it
Some of the future tracks especially from the second disk of the ost, for the movie and the second season will blow you mind, I can't wait.
Thanks for the video. The soundtrack by Kevin Penkin is a real masterpiece. I wish the series would get more attention.
I love listening to musician's break down the story based on the music. You were pretty spot on: this anime follows two characters as the descend a large pit. One character is a robot, so he needs to protect his friend as he guides her down. The story also gets extremely dark.
it just fucking makes me cry whenever i listen to it. i first heard this when reg and riko saw the sunrise in orth and its just so emotional for me
Absolutely recommend VOH or "Old Stories" from Season 2 as both were genuinely wonderful pieces that I'd constantly replay clips just to hear certain parts.
Glad it has been reviewed ❤
