I think Jackbox 5 is a very solid Jackbox pack, but ONLY if you have a close-knit group for it. All of the games (minus Zeeple Dome) are extremely creative conceptually and fun on paper, but I feel like that amount of fun is heavily dependent on the group you play it with. From my experience, with randoms or strangers, it’s one of the weakest entries, but with a group of good friends, it’s one of the strongest

Imo, zeeple dome is good for alone play.
Its that "im bored of the other games's bs" type of game.

Hot Take: I think You Don’t Know Jack should be released as a standalone game from now on since apparently a bunch of the Party Pack community hates or doesn’t understand it, especially since it doesn’t really fit the vibe of the other trivia games in the series. I still think they should continue the series, just make it separate to protect its legacy.
Also YDKJ: FULL STREAM isn’t the first You Don’t Know Jack game with lore or a unique non-game show theme. YDKJ 4 & 6 have an on-going storyline in between episodes (4 takes place in a dark 1000-floor construct where the player has to make it to the bottom, and 6 is hosted by a tricked pirate who has to host YDKJ to break his curse and set himself free)

@@stormbreak7003 Because THAT version doesn't have the phone-based gameplay that YDKJ 2015 has. Instead, it's all local single-screen play, thereby limiting its ability to be played with friends.
And given that it's fundamentally the same as 2015, there's not a lot different between the two. Except for a few question types.
Gene was a fan favorite of my friend group. If someone had really bad lines, he would do quite good on occasion. One time he won from a full vote

my friend group has just made it a thing to hate gene for absolutely no reason, and it makes it really funny when we have three players, gene appears, and everyone just fucking insults him for the entire game
Me and my friends love Mad Verse City for one big reason: we turn off the TTS and do the raps ourselves. I totally get how playing it online with people you don’t know would be terrible however, so I agree with you there. But if you ever are playing this pack with friends, try it out sometimes

Dude split and mad verse are some of my favorite jackbox games ever, everyone has good senses of humor in the streams I join
Mad Verse City forcing you to be creative is part of the reason why I love it so much. I cannot tell you how much I've grown to hate Quiplash because of the low effort low brow humor that permeates it (Maybe I just need different friends to play Jackbox with 🙃).
With Mad Verse City, you can still be low brow, but it's funnier if you're low brow AND you can rhyme. Forcing people who don't usually try in other Jackbox games to make jokes with at least some effort behind them is something I wish more Jackbox games could do.
Of course, I understand that Jackbox is meant to be a more casual experience, and no one really wants to tryhard at a party game, but I've just grown so fatigued with low effort humor.
Happy to see this, particularly because of Zeeple Dome. I'd seen the basic gameplay before, but had heard ZERO opinions on it until now. Glad to finally know why.
I have not once played a game of mad verse City in which I didn't laugh my ass off hysterically. Easily in my top 5 jackbox games
Party Pack 5 is on of my favs, as well as some of my friends.
We all like Patently Stupid, Split the Room, and we sometimes play Mad Verse City.
That Mad Verse City section is probably the hottest Jackbox take I've ever seen
Its really interesting to see your take on Mad Verse city because I always play it by having me and my friends say the raps ourselves. So having the tts bots do it for you provides a completely different experience

Honestly Mad Verse is a million times better when you use a mod that lets you write the whole thing yourself.

I thought to myself today 'I really don't like video's that discuss the Party pack games anymore, given how many youtubers seem to just copy and paste the same opinion almost as if it's a fact. And just as I was 'boutta give up I saw this AMAZING review.
You made some great points on each of the games, even mentioning small things I felt really giddy about hearing from you, seeing someone talking more in-depth about why Zeeple Dome blows instead of the usual 'it bad cuz it different' point everyone seems to make.
I absolutely adore your content and even to this day it never feels stale listening to your voice and your analysis's.

The best part of Mad Verse City is the Tiger Electronics game robot.
Something I don't think you're considering with patently stupid's present for me feature is streamers who aren't playing with people over discord. It lets there be some voice instead of just things showing up randomly on the screen.
You're able to change the tts volume/remove it entirely in mad verse city, definitely makes it more enjoyable 👍
especially if you're in VO or in a room and decide to rap it yourself
Been getting into the Jackbox series and these video are a huge part on my decisions on which party packs to get first. Awesome stuff!
I can highly recommend pack 7. It has three extremely solid games, two that I haven't gotten around to playing yet since buying it 6 months ago but they might be good

For mad verse city, there's a setting that lets you mute the robots and you can rap yourself
Dude, I've just gone back to watch this. Mad Verse is genuinely my favorite Jackbox game (at least when my friends aren't ripping me to shreds, haha). I think I can attribute it to the fact that we always turn off the text-to-speech and rap it ourselves. Leads to some funny moments where one of us flubs a line, or when someone couldn't finish in time and forgot what they were gonna say. "Its fleece was white as snow" was the funniest non-rhyme in that whole game, and it was in our first game. The way he said it, too, impeccable. For my friend group, anonymity would ruin the whole point. This game calls back to the old days when we would literally do "Minecraft Rap Battles" at the lunch table, coming up with Minecraft-y insults to a beat. This game was made for us.
Edit: Also, Gene is very fun to do a purposefully shitty voice for on his turn. Sometimes I fight against him and end up just rapping both sides, haha.
Edit Edit: Oops. Didn't finish the section. For the record, I mostly agree except for the TTS complaints.
i feel like patently stupid having the option not to present yourself is an instance of the game trying to accommodate for people playing on stream that aren’t in a voice chat with each other

Ydkj: full stream is strangely enough the only game without a child appropriate option in jackbox, which is a problem when younger cousins do their younger cousin thing and beg you to play the one other game.

I recall playing Patently Stupid over a stream, where the streamer and a few audience joined as players. Thus unless everyone joined a Discord call (which we didn't), we can't present the invention. In that play session the "present for me" actually was the prefered option for us, even for the streamer who did have the option to talk over their presentation.
When it was my turn I decided to click "present myself" then quickly click the "show X" buttons to skip the game's lengthy-ish stock talking voice clips, and I was actually told by the streamer to "just click present for me".
i have never had a group of people who have wanted to play YDKJ. it’s not what they’re looking for in jackbox

Man, this pack had so much potential, but there’s just tiny little things in each one that makes it mundane. I really wish they let these games cook just a little more and gave it too us.
Fun fact: I had a cousin on their knees from my invention’s tagline specifically, being “Disband the flock, or get the glock!” Guess what the problem and/or the name of the invention
Finally, now I have more arguments in favor of wanting Jackbox to make Split The Room 2 besides "I want to see more of the funny Rod Serling cat, and if he's Cookie's pet cat Mayonnaise, I really want to see Owen Watson anthro-ify his other cat, Poopsie"!

when we play mad-verse city with my friends we always mute the audio so we can rap it ourselves
I think what would've been kind of fun for Patently Stupid is where you make a solution to your problem like normal, but then all of the index cards get swapped around. So now you have to present on how your solution will somehow work for this thing.
I think what could also be interesting is some sort of voting or giving money to the invention that you believe was made for the original problem before they got mixed up.
I think that this would be a fun idea if everyone responded to the first problem honestly and made a solution for that problem, that way you then have to improv on how your solution that was not meant for this problem is supposed to fix this problem. However, I could see a lot of people just doing something very vague or super simple so that it basically works for any situation it works for, so it could be very boring. It would be a round that you have to play with specific people who are going to follow the rules and try not to cheat them in order to have the best shot at winning.

Idea for Split the Room 2, specifically audience. To slightly improve the audience, the larger it is, it gets split (pun intended) up to 3 groups which each count as one vote. This could change based on player count, audience size, etc.

Zeeple dome is the embodiment of "its fine for the first 5 minutes before shutting it off forever afterwards" but I do wish they that they recycle the avatar characters for a future jackbox game and obviously with a different gameplay style since I really like the design of the characters.

22:57 I think the “Present for me” button is for streaming, if you don’t have voice chat the players can’t really talk while presenting so the game needs to do it for them, pretty sure Joke Boat has the same thing for the same reason, I agree it’s not as good as presenting it yourself but you can’t really do anything about it.
Man, this is like the go to one for me and my friends, we all love all of the games (except for zeeple dome, duh)

One thing ya missed ab mad verse city that often bugs my group of friends and me is the fact you can’t see what the rap is when you put down the (noun, person, place, or thing) leading to moments where you put a response down and u get butchered cause the person or rhyme you had in mind gets absolutely flipped on it head when you see what you have to work with.

I played Zeeple Dome over Discord with some friends once, and everyone angrily yelling at each other (mostly me for trolling and being slow with THREE SECOND LATENCY lmfao) honestly made the game a really fun experience over all. At least for me.
I'd love to see a sequel of split the room, I really like the graphics and premise but it is rough. Like a cats tounge heheh

Honestly spilt the room is fascinating in it’s brilliance and terrible design on one it can be extremely fun and crazy for some prompts but for others it feels like the game is giving you the middle finger. Not just that but there’s the layer of honesty not always being in yoru favor, like if you know someone really well it’s sometimes better to answer what you know there gonna answer but there’s also the layer of questions so obvious that it’s in your best interests sometimes to intentionally lie which I don’t think was intentional but also adds more strategy to the game paradoxically??
( also while your criticism of the time extras points thing can be true it kinda forgets other reasons people take longer to answer like rereading the question in case of bad vision or if the question was made purposely confuseing like a paradox or something). Overall I liked spilt the room a lot but I do agree that many design decisions feel counterproductive or even just bizarre (still liked your video by the way thoguh)
I promise I'm not lying, but my friend's favorite Jackbox Game is Zeepledome. His family has Jackbox Party Packs 1-5, and they play regularly. In fact, one time me and my other friend played Jackbox at his house with his family, and his entire family loves Zeepledome. Listen, I don't get why, I think he said why before, but I don't remember it. I'll ask him why he loves Zeepledome when I can and i'll update this comment.

HOT TAKE: jackbox 5 is one of my favorites other than zeepldome the games are really funny and split the room is a family favorite, patently stupid is just great, max verse city is so funny, and you don't know Jack is great for my family!

Great Mad Verse City tip: turn the TTS volume all the way down and just rap the verses yourselves. Then it’s a fun Mad Libs style rapping game. Loving play it with my friends that way.
I hope Zeeple Dome's failure doesn't stop jackbox from including more true co-op games (or at least gamemodes.)

Hot Take: Zeeple Dome rocks! People judge it based on what it should be, a party game like drawing and other such things. I love playing one player. Yes, it has it’s flaws, and multiplayer makes it harder, but as a solo player of this game, it is amazing to play when you treat it as it would be. A video game. I love playing this as a more mobile style game. It’s supposed to be a video game. I don’t enjoy it as much when I play it with other people, but I love playing it solo. It feels like a mobile game, not a jackbox game, and it should be appreciated for that. The devils and the details is a great blend of jackbox and zeeple dome.
