      @@NkatekoMdaka do you think these opportunities will still be there in 7 years time ?

    • @NkatekoMdaka
      @NkatekoMdaka  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@leratomawela5164 I do think so, as there are still schools, hagwons (private academies) as well as international schools looking for English teachers. It's not looking like something that will be here one moment and gone the next, especially with many other countries (China, Taiwan, Vietnam, The UAE, Spain, Italy, Japan etc. still looking for English teachers/Tutors and the likes :) Although I do think the requirements might me more strict in years to come, I don't think there'll be a lack of opportunities.

    I also did my TESOL via IOA. I have a few hundred questions lol:
    If you have a TEFL and a TESOL, do you have more of an advantage or do they only take one into consideration?
    I only graduate in March, and I heard you can't apply to Korea without already having graduated. Is this true? And if so, when will they open applications again?
    And with the covid restrictions, will applications still require that you send your documents or will it all be online?
    And with the proof of english education, I heard you need to get it from all the schools you attended (primary to highschool). Unfortunately due to my mom's job, we moved a lot and I constantly changed schools and have only managed to recieve the letter from grace 7-12, 1-5. The other schools have not yet answered me. Is it possible to just skip a few grades?
    I also heard that the 2 letters of recommendation have to be from 2 separate institutions. But I have one from my lecturer, and another from working at the disability writing unit on campus (so they're both from my varsity). Is this acceptable?
    And do you have to have a personal laptop for the whole process, cause I don't have one (varsity struggles).
    So so sorry for the ridiculous amount of questions.
    Thanks so much for the awesome content

      I am currently in the last few months of my degree (expected to graduate in December) and I intend on sending my application through early next week. The agent I am working with (from GoldKey Education - South African and free) told me that I can submit a letter of expected graduation, I will need my graduation certificate as well as full transcripts later.

    • @NkatekoMdaka
      @NkatekoMdaka  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Wanderlust,
      You don't have more of an advantage. Although this might help you better and quickly adjust to your new working environment.
      The documents will still need to be sent as they require the originals, DHL does still send worldwide so you may use their services. Should this change they will inform all applicants in a timely manner.
      These are okay as 1-5 are your primary school years and 8-12 your high school years. Just inform your agent of this and I'm sure it should still be okay :)
      These should be sufficient, you can also confirm these with your agent or the person handling your application at Epik, it shouldn't be a problem.
      No, you don't, haha when I did my interview I borrowed a laptop from one of my friends for the morning because I only had a work laptop that didn't have camera access. So you don't need a personal laptop, when you have to do the interview they stress that you use a laptop because it's easier to use so if you have someone who can lend you one, please borrow it :)
      I hope this answers you questions

      Wanderlust 99 applications for Spring 2021 (Feb 2021) are almost closing soon, no one knows the exact but Epik announces. You can start your application for fall 2021 next year January this could give you enough time to get documentation and the application done without rushing

    Did you arrive during Covid and did you quarantine? If so did you book an Airbnb and pay for it or did your school/ government cover the costs?

    • @NkatekoMdaka
      @NkatekoMdaka  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Thulisa, our Epik group arrived just when covid was peaking. We went to the orientation (you can check out that video here th-cam.com/video/AVwgjsEXyso/w-d-xo.html). We didn’t pay to quarantine also Covid was still a new thing so quarantine really started only when we got to Korea we did our orientation (which is 7 days long) basically under quarantine and they asked us not to leave the orientation grounds, when we moved to our apartments we self quarantined for another 7 days.
      I’m not sure how they plan on carrying out quarantine for the upcoming teachers as it seems their contracts have been moved to Fall intake, for independent applicants they are informed how the process will be for them once they come over to Korea, so I’m also unsure how that process works for them

    Did u say Dirco is free ? When people paid 700+ to apostles their PCC and Saqa ver

    • @NkatekoMdaka
      @NkatekoMdaka  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey 🌻
      Thank you for the info, I was with GlobalTEFL where I paid for my TEFL. I’m glad there’s a place where people can obtain their TEFL for free.
      As you may have seen, this is a personal experience. I applied for my PCC + Degree verification (the updated PCC price is in the pinned comment) prior to the 2020 changes, as a result I did not need to pay for my documents to be taken through DIRCO especially since I did this myself (physically going to the Police station + Higher education offices & DIRCO office) which I have also mentioned.
      The process has changed since 2019, especially with the pandemic therefore I strongly believe it’s best for people to do their own research in addition to my information, as I often pin updated comments at the top for new info when/if I receive it 🌻

      My bed is a SS(Super single) it feels like a slightly bigger 3/4 in SA size, I'd say this is the standard bed? only because a lot of people have the same bed, but they do have bigger beds

      @@napogadi8145 you can bring your own bedding, it’ll just be a little tricky especially since you really don’t know what size you get in your apartment. My suggestion is you bring a flat sheet (not a fitted sheet) for your bed that way it’ll fit any bed size without looking weird like a fitted sheet would, and the duvet can be any size really, a double will be best since you can only either get a double bed or something smaller 🌻

    • @NkatekoMdaka

      Hey Faith! I only stayed at the hotel for just one night & day. Many other teachers made friends with other teachers that were coming with and they shared hotel rooms with other teachers. So you can definitely do that. The other option is to set up your flight plan in such a way that you land on the same day as orientation, that way you don’t need a hotel 😊
