I'm a teen girl and haven't had a gynaecology appointment since I was young as I haven't really had issues and they aren't mandatory where I'm from. Anyways when I was 3 or 4 I got diagnosed with Lichens Sclerosis, a painful skin condition that affects mainly female genitalia. It afffects you as a child and in menopause so It doesn't affect me now but as a child I was on steriod lotions and my skin burned and I couldn't sleep. I would cry all night for multiple nights a week, it was unbearable itching, pain and burning, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. So glad that with puberty it left. All womens bodies are different and we shouldn't be ashamed of that.
And y9u shouldn't. No teen girl should have to go through this kind of humiliation. Adult women shouldn't either. It's all a scare tactic. More money on the Drs.pockets
I love that you ask for consent every step of the way and make sure the patient is comfortable with what you are doing. You also take time to explain what you are doing. I've never had an obgyn do that for me. 😢
I just went for my first examination and thanks to your videos I had a lot of necessary information, and also my respects for the gynecologists, they are so professional and see things as normal as we should see them. I'll continue to watch your videos to feel more confortable about this topic. Thank you very much 💖
As a teen girl I’ve always feared these type of appointments. I’ve heard a lot of bad experiences and that’s just totally freaked me out but this, this helps a lot and bring comfort to the whole thing. You’re an amazing doctor and an even more amazing person. Love your content ❤
Naaah, honey. They're easy. The physical exam doesn't feel great, and the PAP causes a pinching twinge, but not bad and pretty quick. It's more of a time to ask questions for you, and discuss concerns you have. As long as you go into it understanding you are being cared for, and we all do the same thing every year, keep yourself relaxed about it.
I rarely go to the OBGYN and I miss the ambiance of the clinic setting and the doctor that always used to give me my yearly checkup💞 I love your videos
Hi Leanna, I've been subscribed for a few months now and I really love your videos! I have some ideas for future videos in this OBGYN-genre: - Fertility - trying to become pregnant! (something with the cycle, ovulation, what to do if you can't become pregnant naturally etc.) - Anything with abortion and/or rainbow babies. - Pregnancy: Hyperemesis - Pregnancy in LGBTQ relationships. Much love from a midwife student in Europe
i’m not sure if you actually saw my comment on your previous video but you actually started to use the old gloves again omg!! ❤ i just love the way it sounds, so squeaky hehe thank you leanna
I hate the pelvic exam/pap smear part, because it hurts me whenever the speculum goes in. People tell me to relax, but that's one part I always wish I could be knocked out for. I did have my last one a few weeks ago, and in the middle of it, I was literally screaming through my teeth.
Thanks for the lovely video ! I know it's not your medical field, but I would love a blood bank video ^^ In France, I always find the whole experience very relaxing because the nurse are so nice
I had to go in today because I had a uti and yeast infection but they also did my Pap smear it’s not bad it’s uncomfortable it not hard at all. Don’t be afraid to go and get it done if your nervous tell them they are there to make it less scary
My first appointment with the obgyn was in the er at 22 lmao my second was to schedule my hysterectomy last year and I'm still nervous to go back! 4 appointments should feel like enough not to be nervous and she's so nice but something about doctors ig lol
Could you possibly do a video on explaining a women’s cycle, such as ovulation and how we will feel different parts of the cycle, im in my late 20s and still feel I have little knowledge on my own cycle.
I’m 23 and feel the exact same way. I was also on birth control for a while so I stopped getting my period when I was a teen. So now I feel really in the dark lol
Hi leanna Im not sure if you remember it or not but i shared my para ovarian cyst removal surgery to you 3 month ago here on your video The thing is i had a surgery 3 months ago (para ovarian cyst surgery) after the surgery my periods were normal but im due from past 1 month ( my period date was on 9th of August and now its September 1st) i just had blood discharge that's all Should i be worried and go to the hospital for a checkup or shall i wait for another 2 months?? I'm 20 year old and 85 kgs in weight I hope you reply Thank you
what age do you recommend getting a Pap smear for the first time? I'm almost 23 and feel like it should happen. (I live in the Netherlands so the rules are different.
It's perplexing how someone would find a gynecologist role-play relaxing as gynecologists are the source of a lot of women's medical trauma. 😭 For those of you who don't know, female patients aren't given anesthesia or even pain medication for gynecological procedures such as uterine biopsies, endometrial biopsies, cervical biopsies, IUD insertions, etc. Female patients are screaming and crying in pain during these procedures. Some of them even vomit and pass out from the pain and are left with PTSD afterwards. Meanwhile, male patients are given both anesthesia and a week's worth of strong opioid pain medication for testicular biopsies, prostate biopsies, and vasectomies. Women's healthcare is barbaric and inhumane.
Because it shows how they should be. And it also shows how doctors should be. It’s so incredibly helpful to see how a doctor should act and talk to you (asking for consent, and even has videos where you can refuse the exam and talks about other options) this is just what a doctor should do! (: so teens, or even older people can see any doctor that doesn’t respect their boundaries isn’t a doctor they should see. It also normalizes the experience and takes the nerves away! When I was due for my first Pap smear, I was on Facebook at the time, and cotex, or some period product brand hand videos that talked about things like this, what to expect, what to do if you were in pain, etc (: so while there’s most definitely always room for improvement for gynecological procedures, to make it out like we’re not making progress is silly, and not liking videos like these that are actively doing a GREAT job, is silly! Simply scroll on, and be well! (:
My first appointment was very rushed and I wasn’t told anything he just said get dressed touched my boobs felt inside me opened me up swiped the Pap smear test then sent me home
my first time seeing a gynaecologist was when i was 13 (due to really painful periods where i couldn’t move even away from the toilet and i could just cry), it wasn’t a great experience at all and hurt like hell bc they had to check the uterus through my anus (?) rather than the normal way bc i was a virgin ???
because all girls and women alike have the same anatomy. it’s good to get a check up in case anything is wrong. i first went to the gynecologist at 14 because i had an extremely heavy period
@@Sally_crazygirl78 it doesn’t make u any less innocent to go to the gynecologist, it’s just checking up on your body. trust me i was obsessed with animal jam still at that age lol
“If you’ve been sexually active before, this is probably going to feel strange & uncomfortable” if they’re sexually active, wouldn’t that feel normal to them?!. I didn’t understand that part😅
Because the speculum is made out of metal and is a hard object, the sensation is very different from a penis or most toys. And the speculum is "opened" to look inside the vagina, something I hope no penis does xD and lastly, during intercourse, if aroused, the vagina become longer, lubricated and its walls are engorge with blood (for most people) wich is not the case when the speculum is inserted. So the sensation shouldn't be painful if you already had penetrative sex but this will be not at all like it :) hope this helps
i appreciate that you came earlier to work just to make another great asmr video! i missed these videos in the actual office ❤

if possible, I’d ask for a smaller plastic one, extra lube. And if not, ask about doing it yourself where you swab! ❤
I’m terrified for this, it’s so scary do you have tips

Go to the hospital, if it’s completely out of the norm for you then it’s better to go sooner rather than later
I am 27 and I have never done anything like this before.
although not mandatory everywhere, it's recommended! sometimes it's hard to know if anything is wrong.
i really recommend that you see one! they check for cancer, stis, etc. it’s recommended that you start going at age 16

As I know, the teens who didn’t have sex, don’t get an internal pelvic exam, so there shouldn’t be any gynecological instruments.
