Grazie
This is one of the most inspired' works ever written by the Young Mozart, togrther with his string quintet K; 174 in the chamber music domain. The architecture is formally perfect, and the musical interst never weakens in such artefacts as transitions, etc. This is pure crystal work.
Magnificent performance. Rich, powerful and dynamic. My favorite part is Allegro moderato. The intensity was so satisfying. It's also ludicrous to think this complex symphony was written by a 18 years-old. Also, at the age 18, he already wrote 29 symphonies. Talent doesn't wait for age.
When I'm 58 years old I wonder if I will also be referred to as 'young', as Claudio is here! BTW this concert took place at the Smetana Hall, Prague, 1/5/1991.
Wonderful and beautiful! I'm curious, though, why there is a family standing against the wall in the background. Did they come in late? Was it standing room only?
What is it about this, the “Ridente la calma” of the symphonies? Schubert and even Mendelssohn were even crazier prodigies… but there’s something about this moment, right?
Please @EuroArtsChannel could you post the Concert Aria "Ch'io mi scordi di te?" from the same performance with Cheryl Studer and Bruno Canino? Thank you
@@andrewkennaugh1065 Some cello players play the transformed horn concertos. Better solution original concerti by Romberg, Haydn, Mannheim school, etc. a lot of wonderful music.
Abbado became really great only after he had left Berlin. What he did with the Lucerne Festival Orchestra is part of the absolute highlights of classical music.
True, yes! In a way, the Berlin Philharmonic is overrated, anyway. Not that they are a bad orchestra or something. Of course, they are all great musicians - but over the last 30 years, so many great orchestras made so many great recordings and gave so many great concerts ... and totally outshined the BPO under Abbado, let alone Rattle, let alone Petrenko today.
@@llamadeusmozart Wrong. Abbado was great from the very beginning. His 1970s cycle of Verdi operas from La Scala is the stuff of legend, and his 1980s live Beethoven symphony cycle from Vienna is noteworthy for its unforced beauty and its warm humanity. His studio Zauberflöte with Orchestra Mozart is in a 3-way tie with the studio sets conducted by Arnold Östman and Armin Jordan for the title of greatest Zauberflöte recording. And his 1984 film of Rossini's La cenerentola, starring Frederica von Stade, is perfectly conducted. Yes, Abbado has always been great.
No No. Ugh. Poor .Much too fast! He is steamrolling through the music with no real feeling for it. He does not allow the music to breath with rests in what is basically a dance tempo.

Unforgettable, a sadly life destroyed by cancer. After the disease Abbado never was the same again, but he was a fighter and a great conductor!!!🌷🌷🌷
To think this was composed when he was barley 18 years old … mind blown 🤯

@Gabriel Gledhill I fully agree with you
Yes, either I agree definitely.
4:27 to 4:40 I hope Im note the only one that realized this to be the most perfect sounds in the history of music!
The whole symphony is the most perfect sound
Superb!
The absolute MAESTRO wow what a performance!!!!
Love the resonance of this music just as much as this maestro’s conducting🙏💕💡
.....as if sometimes we are too Small....to understand / reach / appreciate......the GREAT MOZART 🌍✨
'astounding, simply beyond belief!' so this is the piece that Salieri is reading from the musicsheet in the film Amadeus. Great discovery
An absolute master class in conducting by one of the greatest interpreters of Mozart! ❤️💯😁
Wonderful Music Forever !
E a Praga è amato il vero Mozart!!!

Marvelous!
Grazie .

I remember I got thrilled with her performance of that aria!

In the first movement, I hear a married conversation, a little lively but correct. What's next?
I have a thought this symphony could be a piano concerto if rearranged properly.
it probably could but it's also great just like it is :)
And we have enough original piano concertos. Why should we do such a useless thing?
Or an oboe concerto... or a bassoon concerto... interestingly,Mozart didn't compose a cello concerto...a bit late now,though...😊😊
@@andrewkennaugh1065 Some cello players play the transformed horn concertos. Better solution original concerti by Romberg, Haydn, Mannheim school, etc. a lot of wonderful music.
Beethoven wrote a wonderful cello concerto, the cello plays the first role with some support of the piano and the violin, the triple concerto.

In some ways Claudio Abbado reminds me of Leonard Bernstein.

Pretty much Karajan's sound, still. Disaster was yet to come.
