Watched this live on MLB Network and it tore me up. I'm a Braves fan and we had some unfriendly times with Jose but he was still my favorite non-Brave and it was so fun to watch him. R.I.P.
Budd Dwyer respect for that but your braves threw at him with the emphasis on bush league. In that fight when one of your pitchers threw at him you dont go around his upper torso. I bet that pitcher felt like a prick when he found out jose passed. I am heartbroken because i saw him pitch in miami against the cubs and he is my countryman since i am cuban. I think about him everyday and i know i didnt know him but he was a role model to so many
Man, earlier this season I went to go watch my Dodgers against the Marlins and that day Jose Fernández happened to be in the outfield catching flyballs during his team's batting practice. Let me tell you, Dodger fans are usually hostile towards players from opposing teams but they had nothing but love for Jose. The whole time he was out there he out there the crowd would joke around and he would respond to them the same way. It seemed as if the fans enjoyed that time with Jose as much as they enjoyed the game itself. He was throwing baseballs to the fans and even threw some fake throws every now and then just to mess around with the fans. The whole time he had that huge smile on his face like he was enjoying every second of it. I'm not exactly sure what he and the fans were saying to each other but the whole interaction was full of joy, laughter, and smiles. One kid even went crazy after catching one of the balls that Jose threw to him! I might not have seen him pitch that night but I'm glad I at least got to see those interactions between him and us, the Dodger fans. He was a GREAT person and was very loved here in LA just like I'm sure he was in every other city. RIP Jose, gone too soon but never forgotten. 🙏
I saw him pitched once and that was at the 2016 All star game in San Diego. When he came in to pitch I was just like seeing the number and the windup and seeing that number I was like wow and seing him just walking in to the dugout I just took a good look at when I heard he past away I remember seeing him pitch.
I hope a lesson is learned by this terrible incident. Three young men gone way too soon. Life will continue but family and friends will never be the same.
