- What if you could both landscape and grow food at the same time?
In this episode, we introduce the fejoia, or pineapple guava--a landscaping tree/shrub as well as a fruiting tree/shrub! We bring you along as the fejoia flowers and then produces fruit. We will then harvest some ripe fruit and reveal how it tastes...so we hope you pick one up at your local nursery and plant some fejoia!

Excellent video. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed!
The blossoms taste good too.
Yes! We forgot to film the blossom picking part but the bubble gum taste is very interesting and tasty!
I grow both regular guava and pineapple guava in my zone 10a Southern California garden
We do too! Hopefully we’ll make a video about tropical guavas sometime :)
Just got two varieties in 9a. Great info! Thanks!
Excellent!
How many years does it fruit?
It fruited pretty quickly quickly! Maybe a year or two? But it was probably at the nursery for a year already….hope this helps!
Try to eat this with skin..it also taste great with skin.
Thanks for the suggestion!
How many years did it take you to grow your pineapple guava to get to the size that you were showing?
About 3 years! And we prune the tops so they don’t get too top heavy. They grow quickly :)
@@practicalorganicliving Thanks! And, I really like how you pruned your trees to be slim and tall. I see others keep it in a bush format, but I want to prune mine like yours!
@chrisucf either way works!
Are these grafted, cuttings or seedlings?
We bought them at a nursery so my guess is that they were air grafted or cuttings. :)
which variety / cultivar is this pineapple guava?
Coolidge variety. The nursery recommended this one for our climate-there are a lot of varieties but it’s important to choose what grows well in your garden!
@@practicalorganicliving thanks for sharing! I'll keep that in mind when doing research.
@@weeb3dev good luck!!
