Ford Bronco Raptor Has Insane Articulation! Sway Bar Disconnect FTW!

- 👋 We have the keys to this 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor, so naturally we went off roading! How capable is the Raptor Bronco off road? This new Bronco Raptor was awesome! While the loaded Ford Bronco Raptor costs over $90,000, it is so confident hitting the rocks ands trails it just felt so at home! I love the drive modes in the Raptor. Off Road mode was great for the general trails, but then Rock Crawl mode was fantastic for crawling up huge rocks. Swaybar disconnect and locking differentials also worked so well and on the fly to easily control how I wanted the Bronco setup up. THe articulation is fantastic in the Bronco Raptor and it really maintained tire contact. Airing down the tires would have helped however it just wasn't practical for this trip. But the Fox suspension on the Raptor Bronco was so comfortable off road and just didn't beat us up. The new Ford Bronco Raptor is a great off road SUV and because it's also so incredibly nice on the road, this is a much better option than the Wrangler 392. Nothing like having a comfortable street driving SUV that can conquer anything off road and still give you removable doors and roof. Raptor Bronco was a blast taking off road and Ford has done a great job with the Bronco lineup to really offer something for everyone!

The sway bar only changes the flex in the front not the back... still impressive tho. Respect from a jeep guy.
Yeah I know that..it’s very impressive for an IFS, very capable suv! In the moment of filming I wasn't even thinking about that lol. That's why I said it when looking at the back
How refreshing…….a real car guy gives props where it’s due. Some of these other jeepsters are real twisted up over this thing.
Have you not seen where they activate the sway bar disconnect and it drops the rear wheel?
@@estevanvalencia9853it only drops the rear because the front changes angles. It doesn’t cause more travel in the rear. There won’t be any more distance between the rear tire and rear fender. The whole vehicle comes down.
The front is ifs. The rear Is a solid axle. Your front end will be picking up tire forsure
I feel ya dude on the weird insults lol. My JLU is what I like and it's for my own enjoyment only but people throw wild copes out of nowhere ha. I see a man and his truck doing the things. Keep it up brotha
Haha yeah! People can say things with no experience! Both are great options!
Fun fact. The bronco raptor has less articulation than the 1970’s bronco.
I would disagree with that, can you show where you see that?
@@BrosFOURRSpeed it was on Lite Brites channel. Just watched it again. I stand corrected. The Bronco Raptor was a hair ahead of a stock 1979 bronco. Don’t get me wrong that’s impressive for IFS. Too bad it’s too wide to wheel here on the east coast.
@@lsxfbodygen3 We are on the east coast 😄 does great and isn’t too wide for these trails!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed well I can tell you a stock Sasquatch package nearly fits on the trails that I’ve run with them. Like tires jammed into the trees right. The Bronco Raptor will not fit. Period.
@@lsxfbodygen3 Depends on the trails lol, we haven’t had any issues with any trail system near us.
That is very impressive, the only thing I wish they had done different with the Bronco Raptor, is drop a V8 into it.
Absolutely a vehicle of it's menacing size would have sold a hell of a more with a coyote or even a small diesel would've been great
Honestly the extra weight of a V8 and size wouldn't really be worth it

Solid axle baby
This is just as capable! Aside from true hard core rock crawling! Which most people don’t do.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Come on man, you know that's not true. Better on road for sure but even for small stuff solid is wayyy better. This is coming from someone that has 2003 v8 toyota 4runner, and a 89 jeep cherokee. The cherokee puts my 4unner to shame doing anything besides powering through mudpuddles.
@@crustytoe92 That is in fact true..small stuff you don’t need a solid axle. We drove the broncos out in Texas and the trails we did, this will hang with a wrangler. The Bronco did rubicon trail with ease. It’s more capable than you think.
You can’t compare a 2003 4Runner to a 2023 Bronco, that’s apples vs oranges. Even a 23 4Runner isn’t as capable. The Bronco tech is amazing offroad. Drive one offroad and let me know what you think then.
Nice flex. The sway bar disconnect is in the front though.
Yea we know that..

Now raptor is just a package
Not at all. It's a nice step up from a normal Bronco
We just got the same color and everything. They are so much fun.
Sweet! This was a fun off roader!
It needs a straight axle for the front. For more wheel travel and durability
It doesn’t just as good and rides so much better on the road though. Unless you need the solid axle for hard core rock crawling, it’s just as capable as a wrangler.
@@BrosFOURRSpeedso just as capable right up until it isn't ?
@@black99rt Just as capable!
Nope. Glad it has independant front suspension
There's a reason he didn't show the front articulation...because it's non existent. Also ifs is fragile like you said- it's for careful races with huge budgets. I abuse the shit out my gladiator on bolt in triple bypass shocks...my repairs are cheap cause the only thing I usually break is tie rod ends or bushings from hitting things way hard.
While only the stabilizer bar in the front disconnects ot does lead to a little more wheel spacing or drop in the back
Yup! Definitely a cool feature for IFS.

It's a Ford. In about 5 years of this doing this shit, it will break. My company used to supply Ford tucks/vans for our job and it was a disaster. We had a broken brake line actually on one of their F-150's a 2014 or 15 I think and they had like 4 or 5 E-150 work vans all are from the year 2011 with screwed transmissions (wonder if it was a recall 🤔). I've been checking out Broncos on the street for awhile, they do look tough when built. With the amount of $ spent on damn repairs (2018 JLU Sport) I could have put a hefty down payment on one. Maybe when this is paid off.
Lets see fords development dept .Jeep Dealership. Doors and top come off, No V8 yet. Maybe a winch that is behind the front bumper next as well.
What? Doors and top come off the Bronco..no v6, but it’s got a lot of power.

Sadly they had to do a raptor trim for this feature, should be standard for any off road vehicles marked it as off road vehicle
What? You can get the sway bar disconnect on other models, not just the raptor..
You can get sway bar discoonect on the Badlands as well.
We have been doing this forever in our Jeeps…
Yeah very true. However the Bronco is actually good on the road and still just as off road capable as a Wrangler ;)
@@BrosFOURRSpeed they might be better on the road but no way is it as good off road as a Jeep… IFS just can’t compare
Honestly I think 99% of people would be able to do everything they do in their Wranglers with a Bronco. Yes the hard core rock crawlers wont want IFS, but the vast majority of Jeep owners don't do crazy off roading. The Bronco has been proven to keep up just fine. And you get the benefit of a very nice on road SUV. Most Wranglers are mall crawlers anyway. Might as well be in comfort on the road
@@BrosFOURRSpeed well I’m not sure where your from but we use our Jeeps
@@JBarnes917 I know a ton of people do. But with the millions sold, so many are never off-roaded. But I doubt a nicely done Bronco couldn't keep up with 99% of the off road Wranglers. But it would also outperform them on street. So to me, the Bronco just is a better package for the majority of people
Now if it only had a straight axle in the front.
Wouldn’t do much different lol, we have a video coming with a wrangler rubicon. Same outcome..
@@BrosFOURRSpeed It's not if it can make it or not. It's the fact that you spend more time on three wheels then you do 4. And there's something to be said for keeping more tires one the ground at all times for traction and a feeling of confidence. Plus when there's ifs involved there are just more components to break. I'm not bashing on the Bronco. I'd own one today for a middle of the road daily and weekend Warrior rig. Good video though and nice rig.
@@stevecoffman6480jeeps are for slow driving and crawling. That bronco is made to run 100 mph across the desert. Go watch lite brite. They bought a bronco raptor and swear it’s the best off road rig from the factory.
Straight axles actually allow for more wheel travel unless you have an ultra 4 style center section for your ifs which you don't.
Broncos are more designed for desert racing, especially the Bronco Raptor, but it can handle some light rock crawling.
I’d say both, it can tackle some pretty hard core trails, not just light trails.
Did he disconnect the rear swaybar??
It’s only in the front, no rear sway bar disconnect.
That solid rear axle looks like a toothpick.
Is this Uwharrie? If so let's get up and hit some trails dude.
It is! Right now we can only go when we get a vehicle that is capable of the trails lol
Why you back up? Thats the backside of Daniel at Uwharrie National Forrest.

I think this exact clip we filmed later in the day as we came back down. So we just turned around to put the Bronco back in this spot for the clip and then backed down to head home. So logistically thats how it happened. But don't watch a 1 minute short and think that was it. We have a whole TH-cam channel with full videos. Any short we have, also has a full video of the same content in depth
😮😮😮😮😮
Lots of fun offroad!
I’m so confused wth is a sway bar disconnect and IK it’s probably exactly what it sounds like but where does the bar go? Does it just go into the atmosphere
The front swaybar disconnects somehow to let the wheels droop down like the rear does since the rear is a solid axle vs the independent front suspension. Very cool!
Lol he said somehow......doesn't even know how his own shit works 🤣😂🤣
That’s how much flex the front could have too if it wasn’t IFS. This is why Jeep is still better for rock crawling .
For hard core rock crawling, but for everything else, this can hang with a jeep.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed So can a Tacoma in that sense. Doesn’t mean it won’t flip and break its tie rods on actual hard trails. Let’s not pretend it can do Jeep things like a Jeep. It can do easy to mild trails and handle speed way better than a stock Jeep.
@@TJ-po9ol so the jeep won’t flip or break but the Bronco will?
@@BrosFOURRSpeed It takes a lot more to flip the Jeep. It has way more articulation in the front. You were showing rear articulation on the Bronco and impressed with it, the Jeep has that at both ends, the Bronco doesn’t because of IFS. I know you don’t do hard trails and can’t understand.
@@TJ-po9ol Glad you enjoy the jeep. I owned a wrangler and would buy a Bronco over it. With sway bar disconnect for the front, it has a lot more travel! I’ve done hard trails. We have a lot more Bronco videos even some doing trails out west. Super capable.

I do have a question though... are you talking about desert🏜 crawling or what?... when you say 5% or are you not familiar or aware of how extreme and challenging the actual wheeling trails of the PNW... not the wide open semi truck capable logging roads in the mountains?
I feel like it's apples to oranges here maybe buddy... idk, that is my take from it.

Jeeps win because they have that much travel on both ends. Ford screwed the pooch with the stupid independent front
Sure a solid front axle is better for more hard core articulation. But let’s face it. That’s a very small percentage of people who actually need that much articulation.
I’d say Bronco wins, way smoother on road and just as capable offroad.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed agreed 👍. The other problem with the twin turbo 4 banger Ford is using, the turbos are melting down around the 100-130,000 mile mark. As bad as the jeep motor is, I'd depend on it more. I was raised a Ford guy, but the older I get, the less of one I am.
@@user-bd5md5cm2j I’d rather have the Ford over a Jeep. Many more problems from Chrysler products than ford products.
@@thoughtcontagion8336 It’s just as capable offroad..

Twin scroll is not a twin turbo...
The motor has been out since '15 in various cars and the ranger...it has been a reliable powerplant.
As a person who helps build em don’t buy this piece of sht
I’d buy one, not the raptor, but a normal one. My neighbor has one and loves it!
