Hot take: I feel like the ranking videos would be easier to rank if you all each gave them a score between like 1-15 and then added up the points to give them a more accurate ranking. The scores would also help you know which teams would classify as a high A, for example, versus a lower A.
Then the ranking scores could be:

This is such a good idea. The current system actually stinks, and it's a surprise it hasn't been vetted and replaced before.
@@Metalgooze They do seem to influence each others opinions a lot so it ends up changing the rank based on the pressure of the rest of the guys. If they each take turns ranking the jerseys and then they all chime in to change their opinion, it might as well be based on points because then the individual ranking doesn't hold any weight.

I can’t disagree more with the Blackhawks jersey. It’s a respectful representation of an actual person that existed in history. Such an iconic logo, that shouldn’t be changed. The Indians logo on the other hand was with no doubt offensive, a caricature of an Indian / Native American with an idiotic grin.

The Blackhawks are named after a singular person. The logo is his likeness. Here in Chicago we are all taught about him and his bravery and defiance of the invading settlers and his refusal to be pushed off his land. Unlike the Indians or Redskins, this team name an logo actually does honor someone. I see nothing wrong with it. None of the Natives I’ve talked to including those not from the Chicago area have a problem with it. In fact, the Sac and Fox Nation are partners with the Blackhawks. They’re literally the people that he was the Chief of.
Regardless, no one cares if it’s a group of people. It’s still one of the hardest jerseys of all time💀💀

I’ve seen a few alternate logo concepts with an actual Black Hawk, looks pretty cool, but still doesn’t look as good as the Indian head. It’s here to stay!

Just so everyone understands. The Blackhawks logo isn’t made to be racist in any way shape or form. It gets its name from the military group the original owner was in, who were called the Blackhawks named after the tribes leader who lived around Chicago named the Sauk Tribe.
The logo itself was approved by many indigenous groups, and is an example of a logo that can represent an indigenous theme without showing them in an overly racist manner.
The tribe is well known for wearing feathers as depicted, and the logo does not depict them in a crude manner like the redskins logo that both used a racist name and a racist logo.
It’s raised a lot of awareness to the group over the years, and has even donated to their cause a few times.
There is no reason for it to be controversial, or for it to have to be taken out of the league. Once you get past the very small minority who have a problem with it (99% people who aren’t from any background that it could possibly offend) people like it. In fact, a lot of people respect it.
Most NHL teams choose names that represent their city in some way, and for one of the biggest franchises in the league to not only choose, but keep a name attributing to indigenous people is massive. And to get rid of it is far more counterproductive then keeping it toward indigenous equality.
Seriously, what do people find so racist about it?
It doesn’t depict the logo doing any racist stereotypical actions. It doesn’t portray its character (Chief Blackhawk) in an overly racist way, it’s just drawn in a cartoon style.
So what’s the problem with it? If the Islanders can have the stereotype of a white fisherman in New York on their jersey which is indeed a stereotype, then why can’t Chicago have a popular indigenous figure?
They aren’t making fun of him, or disrespecting his legacy. So why?
It’s time we all wise up and understand portraying indigenous themes isn’t racist. It’s not. The sooner we start treating everyone as equals, and don’t get all sensitive when a stereotype, especially a harmless stereotype is portrayed in brand or media, the sooner we can have equality between genders, races, religions, etc.
It is because of the very people who are so offended by such a thing as the Blackhawks logo we still have culture clashes like this. Enough is enough, let them keep their logo. And let’s move on to pushing indigenous themes across the world to help them spread their message and get the rights they deserve.

Also, I would like to clarify I’m not saying the fisherman logo is racist. It’s not, and that’s my point. If a cartoonish but decently accurate depiction of one of their great leaders is racist, then so is the fisherman logo. It’s not fair to call one racist and not the other simply because one is a white stereotype.
As for the argument against my claim that it doesn’t offend the majority of people, it doesn’t matter that it offends such a small minority. This minority it offends are mostly people who think it offends indigenous people and aren’t any part of the community it apparently offends, which it largely doesn’t. Cancelling things because you assume it offends someone else is common practice these days, and an extremely stupid one and it’s gotta stop. As I said before, keeping it, and using it in a way to spread awareness rather then deleting it because you think it’s racist is the far better way to go.

On the topic of the islanders fisherman, please do correct me if I'm forgetting my US history, but I fail to remember the US government and its citizens destroying fishermen's lives, stealing their waters, making them swim halfway across the sea against their will to a designated place to fish, and also having the navy fight an awfully one-sided against the fishermen. Can you help me remember that?

Unlike other logos using native Americans, the blackhawks logo isn’t used in a cartoonish way and is actually based on an actual person. They pay tribute to the local natives in Illinois every game and have actually been praised by native Americans

As someone who grew up a Predators fan, the Blackhawks were a team that was always a thorn in my side and I still hate them for that. HOWEVER, I have so much respect for their logo and it’s origins. Not only do they have permission to use it from the Native tribes in the area, but the Blackhawks do so much good work for that community and they hold that tradition and that history to high levels of respect. While that logo might give me PTSD, I can’t help but respect it.

The hate on the Blackhawks is unwarranted. The hawks have one of the best logos in history. The logos origins pay much respect to the natives of that area and are incredibly historic and deserve lots of respect.

You know you can google these things right? Local indigenous groups like the American Indian Center of Chicago have all come out in favour of changing the logo and name. Idk what you mean by "they have gotten permission to use it", from who? Plus, there's so much they could with just changing the name to the Hawks and hiring a local indigenous artist to make a logo in their art style. We've already seen other indigenous artists, like Mike Ivall in Toronto, make mock-ups of a replacement logo that are super cool and in the same style and colour scheme as the original logo.

My issue with the Chicago stuff is they got permission, and still had a blessing to use the name and logo for a while (idk id they still do or not), and the people who the jersey upsets have no association to native american culture they just might have some native blood in them.

It seems like the one that EVERYONE loved was the first Winter Classic, light blue, jersey. The only one most fans hate is the dark blue. But, I think that's because of the curse lol.
And, there would definitely be arguments over which Blues jersey is there.
This would be amazing. And, add in a voting thing of best to worst. Let's say you get the Colorado (Nordiques) jersey, Sharks, Sabres, a Kings jersey, two Pens jerseys? One RoboPigeon and one that's actually good 🤣, a Canucks, Jesse pulls out a Jets and Arizona Jerseys, and two guys thow out a couple of original Six jerseys.

@@hectorjenkins934 as someone who lives in the area, and hates the Blackhawks, the Chicago Blackhawks have been given, publicly, approval by the native tribes in WI, ND, SD, MN, and IL, I don't know about any other states native tribes these statements were from individual tribes so they may not be fully representative, but in the statements given by the tribes, they stated that since the Blackhawks' logo has always been a respectful rendition they were not only okay with the black hawks using their logo but they were proud to be on the logo, the issues that native people people had with other sports' use of the native face were, Cleveland Indians had a history of the logo being essentially the native American equivalent of black face, and they didn't like being called Indians when they're Native Americans (statement was made before American Indian started to become a thing that some tribes like and some don't), the Washington redskins literally have a slur in their name not much to have to explain there, and they also did similar logos to the Cleveland Indians.

In terms of the best I think the Blues have to be it. So many unique and interesting jerseys and Calgary is great too, could see a lot of good picks for the best.
I’m a Sabres fan. Our jersey collection is actually wild. The fact that we have 2 of the top 5 jerseys of all times and 2 of the top 5 worst jerseys of all time is insane. Of course in my opinion. Just be happy we’re not wearing navy anymore 🤮🤮🤮

i think people should take a step back from the whole race situation and take a good look at what it actually represents, which is a strong Sauk leader that played a massive role in the history of Illinois and is being celebrated for who he was in life.

@@Mastur_Bateman I think the difference between the Notre Dame and Blackhawks logos is that there is a history of the U.S. Government systemically killing and/or forcibly moving Native Americans over the course of a few centuries. You might even use the word genocide. While Irish immigrants didn't exactly have the best time in America in the 18th century, there's a unique history of the Native American people in this country that makes our relationship as a nation with native peoples very shaky. I don't think it's unreasonable for some people to think that a team owned by and full of white people using an illustration of a Native American could be offensive, even if it's done more tastefully than the Indians logo. Of course not everyone finds it offensive, but there are a great number of people who do.

Agree with everything, but I keep bringing up this nitpick in the interest of historical accuracy: BLACKHAWK WAS NEVER A CHIEF. The Sauk tribe had a chief. That chief was never Blackhawk. Mr. Blackhawk was a military leader, and not the civil head of the tribe. Gen. Blackhawk would be more accurate. (In fact British allies named him a brevet General, an honorary rank in their own military, and British officers addressed him as Gen. Blackhawk as a result.)
The Blackhawks jersey is classic and pays homage to the tribes and respects them.

I really like and respects all these guys and the content they create is quality everytime, but the hate towards the Blackhawks is starting to get a bit annoying. It's one of the iconic logos where changing it isn't just a small thing. And I'm not even a Blackhawks fan.

As a Blackhawks fan I wish you guys would do your research before speaking on a subject you guys disregard just because a few people said it was offensive, The team has done numerous surveys to determine it’s not to the majority of Native tribes they’ve asked, they made sure to give back and do things for the Native community, even recently the Goaltenders mask were done by Native artists from the Potawatomi and Ojibwe tribe, instead of erasing history and erasing the people behind that history we need to stop taking the easy way out and instead have real conversations and commemorate the people behind the Blackhawk(Suak) and other native tribes which the organization has been doing continuously since day one

Ok as a Ducks fan I have to say, the orange is part of the team being in Orange County and them embracing Anaheim as their home (as opposed to the Angels).
I will totally admit the jade & eggplant colors are amazing and I absolutely miss them and love it every time they make an appearance, but I also like the orange/gold/black combination and it really works for the team and their hometown.
I also don’t mind the D jerseys and enjoy the shoulder patches and the overall design. But obviously I prefer the cross sticks logo, as does almost everyone, which is why the reverse retro’s really hit hard for a lot of fans (as well as the all orange jerseys).
I do think the retros should add shoulder patches though, using the old secondary logo patches from the past and updating them with the current colors.

The Blackhawks actually aren’t named after Chief Black Hawk….. Kind of…
They’re named after the Army division of the Black Hawks’ founder, which was nicknamed the “Black Hawk Division.” The division itself WAS named after Chief Black Hawk and the team is indirectly named after him. That’s why the Blackhawks were originally named the ‘Black Hawks.’ They later dropped the space and became the ‘Blackhawks.’
This is also why some people who want the logo changed have suggested a more military approach.
Me personally? I think because the Blackhawks are showing respect for a Native Chief and bring awareness for them, AND the name isn’t derogatory in any way (unlike the former Cleveland/ Washington sports teams), AND they banned the use of Native head dresses at home games, there is no real reason for a brand change.
Especially when other cultures are used for sports teams (Minnesota Vikings, Kansas City Chiefs, Boston Celtics, Arizona Coyotes kachina designs, Dallas Cowboys [named after an organized crime gang], Florida State Seminoles, etc.) and no one really complains about them
Disclaimer: I'm a Flyers fan. I agree with Jesse, but there is more to it. Ultimately a jersey is about branding as well. And if you showed non hockey fans the jersey's and said tell me about this team's brand of hockey, no jersey set does it as well as the Flyers. No fuss, no flash, just blue collar go out every night with your lunch pail and hammer and beat the other guy. The jersey and it's branding matches the team perfectly.

For some reason with the Capitals, I think going back to the screaming eagle would be cool. Maybe have the reverse retro from 2021 as their home, a white version of that as the away and then the current reverse retro as a third. I'd like that a lot.

The red Blackhawks jersey with current logo is one of the greatest ever. The logo is not representing native Americans as their mascot ffs there’s a deep respect that comes with wearing a jersey like that
Huge agree with Jesse on the Ducks, I’d even drop them to D. Two incredible jerseys in the 90s don’t make up for two decades of consistently having some of the ugliest jerseys in the league.

The BarDown take on the Blackhawks jersey being offensive shows the lack of knowledge they have on the history of the logo. Very ignorant of them and shows they follow whatever trend the 'woke' mob is rallying for.
We don't change logos in the NHL, I live in Manitoba with many Metis people and that is the sole reason they cheer for the Blackhawks.

They really need to a LOT more jerseys in Chel. Seriously, the last time they added any retro jerseys was in NHL *12*. Meanwhile they still have every single “new” jersey they had since NHL 08.

All 5 of the other 'second 6' teams came up with absolutely iconic and unique uniforms/logos upon entering the league, but the Penguins did not. They came in with a baby blue version of the rangers jersey and their sweaters were generally bad for over a decade until they decided to copy the pirates, Steelers (and the Bruins) and go with black and yellow. There's no way they have the best jersey history when they had the worst jerseys in the league for the first chunk of their existence. You could argue it was the first bad jersey in the history of the NHL. You can make the argument that their logo is better than Boston, but Boston's just done black and yellow better over the years, and Boston has never made the mistake the pens did in the 2000s. In terms of tertiary colors I think the bruins sweaters with the red/brown are better than the pens jerseys with baby blue too. Honestly the Bruins have had so many different jerseys in 100 years and I don't think they've really had any stinkers. (I'm not a Bruins fan)
