I once tried to sing along to Burr's introduction to that section and ended up with "Everybody give it up for America's flavored flying French fry". ☺️
Honorable Mention for Ramin Karimloo who so beautifully captured the role of Erik in both the 25th anniversary of Phantom of the Opera and later in Love Never Dies. He sings with so much raw power that it looks effortless!
I think Renée Elise Goldsberry deserves an honorable mention for "Satisfied" from Hamilton. I'm not sure, but I think I remember that it actually has the fastest verse, although both it and "Guns and Ships" clock in at about 5 words per second. Granted she's not dancing or singing in a French accent. 😉 Don't get me wrong, I love Daveed Diggs singing"Guns and Ships" too.
Kristin Chenoweth as Cunegonde in CANDIDE is an honourable mention for me. Her dancing on a couch, swining a diamond nevklace round her neck hitting top soprano notes is ICONIC
Raul Esparza’s performance as Bobby in Company truly was one for the ages. It was one of the most moving performances that I’ve ever seen, and in my opinion, remains the gold standard for that role/show. 👏🏻
I must've listened to the cast recording of "Evita" over a thousand times when I was a kid. I think my entire family knew all the lyrics to every song. ☺️ (My parents took me to see the national tour when I was 12). I got to see Michael Jeter in "Grand Hotel" and the entire theater just came completely alive during his number.
You left out Michael Crawford in Phantom?? If nothing else, the Final Lair, and prior to that Music of the Night? Sorry, didn't he fit the "requirements" any more?
Technically, the stepmom. The original actress who played the mom, Diana Hyland, died during the show's first season. She only appeared in four episodes.
My jaws dropped when I learned Betty Buckley was Grizabella in the original Broadway production of Cats. I first saw her as the gym teacher in “Carrie”. What a talent!
I was lucky to see the original cast of Hamilton on Broadway, and Daveed Diggs was very funny and great, and I couldn't believe that I could understand every word he sang (I was 57 and had never heard hip hop music before). A close second was watching Leslie Odom, Jr. singing "Wait For It" from row 5 - so close that I could see his eyes. He undid me, he was so wonderful! Not as flashy of a song as others, but perfect.
Out of all of these shows, I only saw EVITA live (twice!) and Patti Lupone gives you chills!! Wish I could have seen Hamilton with the original cast, I have the cast album and Daveed Diggs, blows me away!
Well, the video deals with BROADWAY performers and performances. Ms Paige is a star of London's West End. She wouldn't make her Broadway debut until the late 1990s as Norma Desmond in "Sunset Boulevard."
Samantha Pauly's rendition of "All You Wanna Do" drives home the tragedy that is Katherine Howard's life, especially when she hits that complete meltdown on the last chorus.
You guys must have stock in the Jennifer Holliday clip because it's on every list that has anything to do with musical theatre. I admit, it's impressive, but can you find another clip to run into the ground? I swear I'm gonna make a Mojo Drinking Game and this clip is gonna be like 5 shots.
I found Daveed Diggs so awesome in Hamilton I thought that his Lafayette/Jefferson pairing should have been considered for Best Actor! But then again, he won a Tony for featured actor & idk that he could have beaten Leslie Odom, Jr. so I’m glad he was in That group. And I saw Patti LaPone in Evita (aging me) but she was indeed magnificent in that show, albeit I spent much time being wowed by Mandy Patinkin. I thought his performance was perfection!!
Super human moments - Not getting married in company & anything goes with tap dancing Also Effie white you gotta love me dream girls Doing that belt every night must be super human Any Kristin chenoweth performance especially glitter & be gay 😊
The subtitles/captions didn't even attempt to decipher whatever Patti was singing lol Yes she can hit the notes, but some kind of enunciation would be nice.
I’m glad Diggs is included. But too high up in the list. Chenowetj was ignored when she’s way better than some in the list. Menzel is EXTREMLY HIGH UP when she usually can’t sing the notes live. And yet you rank her for the cast recording when all of the others are mentioned for doing it all live. Extremely undeserving of the spot. Specially one so high up.
#9....sigh. So many pitch issues compared to all the others on this list that she does not deserve to be in the top 10. Yes she is powerful, yes she is acting up a storm....but so do all the others in this list but they remain on pitch.

idina Menzel
@@estherkouwenaar3371😮😮
Thank you for including Daveed Diggs. He deserves major credit for pulling off that tongue twisting rap, all in an accent and everything.
I once tried to sing along to Burr's introduction to that section and ended up with "Everybody give it up for America's flavored flying French fry". ☺️
@@trinaq broooo I keep seeing yiu on every video I watch
Credit for everything related to his performance as Lafayette/Jefferson ❤ He was the best among that amazing cast
Honorable Mention for Ramin Karimloo who so beautifully captured the role of Erik in both the 25th anniversary of Phantom of the Opera and later in Love Never Dies. He sings with so much raw power that it looks effortless!
And Ramin too! Revolutionized the role as Crawford did back in '85.
I think Renée Elise Goldsberry deserves an honorable mention for "Satisfied" from Hamilton. I'm not sure, but I think I remember that it actually has the fastest verse, although both it and "Guns and Ships" clock in at about 5 words per second. Yes Jennifer Holliday! That whole performance is legendary!
All she left of that song when her performance was done was a shriveled smoldering husk!!
Raul Esparza’s performance as Bobby in Company truly was one for the ages. It was one of the most moving performances that I’ve ever seen, and in my opinion, remains the gold standard for that role/show. 👏🏻
The emotion and power of Raul’s voice is second to none.
Watch Dean Jones singing as Bobby. He absolutely loses himself. For me no one can match him.
Julie Andrews in everything she does!
Saw Andrews and Burton in original cast revival of "Camelot". Totally owned the stage every second they were on it.
Sutton Foster in Anything Goes!
You left out Michael Crawford in Phantom?? If nothing else, the Final Lair, and prior to that Music of the Night? Sorry, didn't he fit the "requirements" any more?
Aaron Tveit, Jeremy Jordan and Ramin Karimloo are all incredible performers
Jeremy Jordan’s last few notes in Santa Fe plus all the emotion should definitely be on the list
Jeremy Jordan’s last few notes in Santa Fe plus all the emotion should definitely be on the list
They are all great but Jennifer Holliday just tore it up like no one ever !!
I'm just glad Indina is on this list, let alone #2!!
Betty Buckley was also the mom on 8 is Enough.
Technically, the stepmom. The original actress who played the mom, Diana Hyland, died during the show's first season. She only appeared in four episodes.
Holy shit Barba can sing 😮
My jaws dropped when I learned Betty Buckley was Grizabella in the original Broadway production of Cats. I first saw her as the gym teacher in “Carrie”. What a talent!
Betty Buckley for me ❤️❤️❤️ her and Elaine Paige. The only parts of Cats worth watching lol
"Cats" was fun in the theatre, and more fun the closer you sat to the stage. That wretched movie may have given it a death blow, however.
OMG, The 1998 video with John Partridge playing Rum Tum Tugger...WOW!
Yes! John Partridge as Rum Tum Tugger is iconic!
Michael Crawford as the Phantom!
I was lucky to see the original cast of Hamilton on Broadway, and Daveed Diggs was very funny and great, and I couldn't believe that I could understand every word he sang (I was 57 and had never heard hip hop music before). How's about:
.Myles Frost as MJ from MJ the Musical- Tony Awards 2022
.James Monroe Iglehart as the Genie from Aladdin- 2014 Tony Awards
So Julie andrews, Ethel Merman, Mary Martin, Barbra Streisand, etc.
.............. nothing?!
Idina Menzel. Happy wednesday afternoon, Emily. Taka care and God bless you. Greetings from Colombia to you as well.
Give it up for Raul and Betty. Love their inclusion here!
Out of all of these shows, I only saw EVITA live (twice!) and Patti Lupone gives you chills!! Wish I could have seen Hamilton with the original cast, I have the cast album and Daveed Diggs, blows me away!
Yes to this whole list!!!!!!!!!
I became aware of Audra McDonald after seeing the live-action Beauty and the Beast movie, and she’s one of the best singers in a movie full of them.
Patti LuPone #8?? 😮 She should have been at least first or second!
And #1 is well placed ❤🎉
I'm sorry but Eileen Paige (I believe her name is) did THE BEST Grizzabella of any, IMHO.
Elaine Paige! Yes she’s incredible!!
Betty all the way for me.
I remember Michael Jeter on Sesame Street and I thought his dancing was amazing as a kid.
Australian Anthony Warlow is a fantastic broadway performer.
Idina Mendzel without a doubt
I found Daveed Diggs so awesome in Hamilton I thought that his Lafayette/Jefferson pairing should have been considered for Best Actor! But then again, he won a Tony for featured actor & idk that he could have beaten Leslie Odom, Jr. so I’m glad he was in That group. Mj the musical it's my one top awesome favorites
8:57 I mean of course!😊
u could have the entire cast of hamilton here. they’re all so talented
The only one who could beat Idina is Ms. Holliday. Jhud sang that song but Ms. Holiday SANG it.
Super human moments - Not getting married in company & anything goes with tap dancing
Also Effie white you gotta love me dream girls
Doing that belt every night must be super human
Any Kristin chenoweth performance especially glitter & be gay 😊
Heck yeah, Raúl Esparza!
10:10 Yes.
The subtitles/captions didn't even attempt to decipher whatever Patti was singing lol Yes she can hit the notes, but some kind of enunciation would be nice.
Lol, she's not exactly known for her diction.
Can only choose to believe Kristin Chenoweth is always superhuman to not be on this list..
I didn't know ADA Barba could sing! Or play piano!! 😮
Hugh Jackman should be on here, he is living proof and a catalyst when it comes to Broadway
I was thinking his Tony performance for “Boy from Oz.”
NEW WICKED TRAILER TOMMOROW
Andrea McArdel❤️👏🏿🙏🏿👍🏿
Would have been nice to actually hear and see the performance you're hyping up!
#9....sigh. So many pitch issues compared to all the others on this list that she does not deserve to be in the top 10. Yes she is powerful, yes she is acting up a storm....but so do all the others in this list but they remain on pitch.
