This removes a lot of the pressure because you don't feel like you're trying out, but that you've got a job and are just trying to work out how best to do it. That makes sense to me. Expect not to be offered anything and just treat it like you got a 1 day gig.
I love what she said about finding out what's funny in yourself and using that. I'm not an actor, but I think that's an important way to approach art and maybe any career. Figure how what you have that's unique.
The part she says about auditions is so true... You will fail a lot of readings for parts and you can't let it get to you. If you are able though, it's really cool to see other people audition, if you have a chance... Some people are REALLY good and you can learn a lot from people who are more experienced than you. I have seen some people completely transform the way they talk and act in auditions and it's really inspiring. You can pick up traits of how to be a better actor from other actors--especially voice actors... It's so weird how they can convey so much just by how they talk for the specific part.

Great advice! This applies outside of acting too, you'll always be embarrassed and stressed about stuff like interviews/dealing with clients/etc, but just keep doing it and you'll get used to it and it becomes less personal. Also the school thing, it might be useful to be professionally trained, but if you don't explore your field by yourself, you won't stand out as much, and in my opinion you enjoy it less. In short, personalize your learning and growth journey, and don't take dealing with other people in your line of work too seriously, keep your focus on improving your craft instead.

When i questioned the economy of this, up popped an avatar, of unknown gender, whose main achievement within their lifetime is apparently mastering a mobile phone "gacha" game, to call me "beggar". Later i watched some mockery of a 70s PSA film about grass and craft for kids and felt i would much rather children create horrifying plasticene corn dollies than use the internet. I'm not sure what this has to do with women of value and Billy Joel though, i just wanted to throw in some indignation about throwing obscene amounts of cash around.
