I'd love to see you revisit this with an arcade stick or a hitbox. Making custom controllers is really popular in the fighting game community and while wiring and programming the LEDs on my own I realized there's nothing really stopping someone from making their own custom MIDI Fighter 64, which would be pretty handy given that they're sold out (or discontinued?). But before going to all that trouble there's really no reason you couldn't just use an already existing Hitbox to mess around and do basic drum beats with.
i got a victrix pro fs guile green from sf5 era and a 2023 snackbox micro - stumbled upon this video looking to see if i could turn them into mpc style controls for slices in simpler! I'll download M4L plug today to this today and see if it works!! One really interesting thing is that on most of these fighting game controllers, there is an option to change what protocol you send either with button combos or when you turn it on holding a button aka Xbox, PC Gamepad, switch, PlayStation etc. Kaskobi already set it up for different mappings specific to what controller the computer thinks is plugged in aka what controller says it is so theoretically with some slight tweaks to the M4L file you could have different mapping profiles for the same controller like maybe Xbox setting is your Simpler controller and Playstation is your Serum controller and Switch is all Midi CC macros... and then have different settings the buttons do. Also if I plugged in both my controllers and set one of them to PS5 and the other to Xbox i could maybe use both at the same time doing different things...

Looks great! I haven't read all the comments, but you might serve a lot of people when this device would also work for HID/USB-footswitches, that (as far as I understand) then can only generate one MIDI-code, like CC64 and you can use it as sustain pedal, or as an on/off looper switch for guitar players. That's how I came here.
I know I'm a year late to this party, but is there a way you could provide a bit of documentation? I'm trying to figure out how to map and remap specific controls, and I'm having a bear of a time trying to decode the way max for live works.
same here. I want to use my 8bitdo arcade stick primarily to trigger effects. Would be so cool to use the stick for hi/lowpass filtering, inspired by the Splatoon 2 waiting room

I'm tried it this on Windows 10 with my control of Xbox One. the use is very limited. Could you add a mapping option for these software? I would like to mapping my Xbox controller for create modulations.

I have seen many videos on using PlayStation controllers to control midi in software DAWs such as Ableton. My imagination is running wild here haha. Any ideas?

Same thing here when I pick the right controller's name in the dropdown menu (in my case "DualSense Wireless Controller", it's a PS5 con). I have a software that allows me to use it as if it were a Xbox controller (DS4 windows), which allows me to choose that option in the plugin's menu, and doing so fixes the feedback issues. I'd recommend trying this software if you're using a PS controller (or lookout if there's anything similar for whatever gamepad you're using) and see if it helps you too. Nevertheless, it would be great if the uploader could let us know if there's a proper solution to this major bug! Also, regardless of the controller type option I select in the plugin, my analog are only sending midi notes, not pitch bend. Hope we can get some solutions to fix this as this opens doors to a lot of fun ways to play music!
