The big nights are yet to come to take the roof off. I love a bit of football drama and theatre but if the Dutchman can bring us number 20 none of us will give a fook. To watch the defensive and goalkeeping masterclasses on the regular and the firepower going forward is a joy. Kudos to the whole lot of them. Up the Reds. Great analysis as always lads. I'm just waiting for the night that Mac Curtis Szob and Grav are all 8s and 9s. Hope it's against Madrid and we look like world beaters. Then we're really rolling.
Love these deep dives, however, it would also be interesting to see where the opposition are having possession, because for me at times we drop more to a mid block and allow them possession at the back.
Could Slot be leaving more space between forwards and mids because the oppo will still have to break through six players to get to goal but if they loose possession we still have four players high up the pitch in lots of space with a defence that's likely pushing out? Kinda like baiting them out of a low block...
Would really love to see more of this type of tactical analysis/discussion. Well done with this episode. Still watching as I am typing this but love what I've seen up till now🫡
Part of the reason we have less possession at home is because we're leading and the opposition are pushing to score. Josh literally just said this as I'm typing it...
too many teams caused too many chances against us but somehow they have not been awarded with it. Only difference between Klopp and Slot Liverpool is that last line which is now not that high any more. Slot want from his midfield players just to stop counter attacks in a way of giving time to the front line to get back on their positions, they are not obligated to get posession back like Klopp wanted from them
Love the show. Disagree with the Excel table. Very small sample size, Leverksen massively skews numbers and most of the xg was created when Leverkusen were behind and took big risks to come back in the game. Top title winning sides have generally averaging over 1 (xG - xGA) in recent years, so there is still some work for us to do but we may win the title just given how poor the others have been.
Josh has a different analysis when it comes to the way Slot plays his Liverpool squad and against opposing sides. Liverpool is morphing into something different and maintaining the lethal attack against teams. Now I have leanrt about control and the squad has an influence in the game.
1st half analyse the opposition, how they are attacking, defending and weak and strong players. 2nd half dismantle the opposition play by applying pressure on the right areas and attacking when we need to and not just for the help of it.
So what Jamie is saying is the fans that go, the only fans, want both entertaining and winning football. Boring Dutch possession football is not going to cut it. How many shots are we down this season against say 19/20 where we did control the ball and opposition a lot more effectively.
Just watch another blogger and he came up with the same idea...control the game you control the referee one example Aston villa vs Liverpool after nunez scored their was nothing referee coote could do and that's why slot and the players slowed the game down coote that evening tried his best to screw Liverpool and slot new what he was doing YNWA 👍
I think that's very clever...we've been playing against the opposition and the PGMOL for years ....these tactics could help us to defeat them both !! So clever !! YNWA 😊❤

Fantastic insight to tactics
Great work
I know this was pre Villa but I think the second half vs them was a great demonstration of this control you guys discussed here

We do two episodes every week! Normally both on a Tuesday mate

I think what brighton did there to beat the first press takes a lot of skill. They are a good side.

I love this two.

If you lose the high press, forget about the midfield.
Let them get to the defensive third and go for a low block
Great analysis. Its like you are lettingbus into the gaffer's mind 😊

looks like an Erik Ten Haag press tbh...mad how we get away with it. thank god we have ibou and virg.
We get away with it cos we have men behind the ball. This isn’t Kamikazi football, and we’re better for it

Oh, stop! Top of two leagues. Some people are just never happy
Save your adrenaline for finals and title deciders mate. Not for Brighton at home in November ffs
Cheer up johnny boy or “support” someone else

Great point. Never thought of that. Now that he's out of the way, we have a better chance 😅

Na lad! I’m good lad! No deep dives for me kid!
First halves it's 1 man true pressing. The other 3 occupy space and watch. Reacting too late alot.
Let's goo
