At this point it doesn't matter what kind of gold you collect as long as you're trading in your dollars for gold and silver, is the important factor at hand. The dollar is dying.

The more I'm learning, the more I see how true what you're saying is and how concerning this all is.

I am just glad my LCS is still taking all this paper I am brining him and giving me money in return. I tell him that every time I come in when he asks what I am looking for... "Just looking to trade some paper for money". Lucky for us holding USD, our paper is dying just slightly slower than all the other papers out there.

Nice overview on pre-1933 gold coins. Over here in Europe these coins tend to have high premium, though. In Europe the Latin Monetary Union 20 Franc/Lire/Drachmai coins are the equivalent to pre-1933 (the Swiss 20 Franc being the most recognizable), often traded close to spot and highly liquid. But there are other coins: in The Netherlands the 10 guilder coin is very popular (especially the 1897 version), the German 20 Mark and the globally recognized British Sovereign.

Thank you, Cycling Philosopher! You've mentioned so many amazing coins I've never heard of. If we were in a cycling race, I'd just be starting long after the race was finished. I really appreciate you looking back from the finish line to encourage a new entrant. ☺

People didn't start to "hoard" gold during the Depression. People smartly lost confidence in the monetary system and the banks, and began to redeem their gold notes and withdraw their specie coins from the banks. This prudent action was classified by our enemies as "hoarding," and led to the end of real money in the US.

Excellent point. Did you see the following quote from the book "The Great Taking:"
"Apparently all the U.S. public was now the enemy. Think about this.
People who were simply protecting themselves and their families from
the actions of the Federal Reserve System were accused of hoarding
gold, and literally criminalized if they persisted in doing so. The
rationale is incredible: You are hoarding gold, so we will take it and
do what with it? Hoard it! As we have seen, once they had taken
the gold of the public, they did not then use the resource to expand
credit. People remained in a debt trap. The deprivation continued and
even worsened. Clearly, the need to expand credit served only as a
pretext for the confiscation of the public’s gold, which was the real
      premeditated objective."

@@therealhawkeyeii7888 I totally agree, the same thing happened in 1971, Nixon blamed 'speculators' so he had to 'defend the dollar' I am so glad that channels like this are getting some traction. People really need to understand what is going on.

    Lots of good information here!
I sure am glad some people didn’t obey that order or all these beautiful coins would have been melted.
