The exterior looks shit and not even aggressive, The sound of the car is rubbish and even with the exhaust doesn’t sound good at all compared to the MK7.5 R. The inside has got an upgrade in the sense of the ambient colours but everything else it seems unnecessary, no buttons in the car and it’s difficult when selecting things without having to look.
@@fusionlord2533 in my opinion exterior looks better. But that’s only my opinion. On the other side they’re a lot of facts why this car is way better than bevor: 1.Overall driving Performance is better due to the torque vectoring system and the driving dynamics manager. 2.The engine has way more punch in every situation. 3. no automatic gear changing anymore (also no softlimiter in the standstill). 4. it does sounds better in comparison to the 7.5 R with opf. Especially on the inside. Yes it’s Fake Noise but way better than the old one.
@@Aragato94 The things you’ve suggested I get and agree, But the fake noise getting pumped in isn’t appealing at all. If you think the car is missing a bit of torque or you want more power, Consider getting a stage 1 Map and Gearbox. I just dislike how the car looks and also navigating the car.
the GTI doesnt look good.. But the R it does ... Where the mk 7,5 looked good in both versions

it took me 2 years to like the golf 8. i personally still own the 7.5 and when i test drove the gti clubsport mk8 last week i decided to buy it, even though the sound it makes is fake. the performance is fantastic and i think the look of the clubsport is definitely better than the normal gti but i still think that there are some things missing but i would add it later on . all in all its a solid car with some imperfections. it might not be a car for everyone but at the end of the day your own opinion of the car matters. gotta admit that i regret not buying the TCR back then or the mk7 clubsport but i decided for myself to give the mk8 a chance 🙃

Since you've driven both, how does the sound compare to a 7.5R also with OPF and Akrapovic ? The 7.5 with OPF and Akrapovic still sounded pretty good. What about this one? Does it also still sound good/loud enough in person aside from the pops? I've been told the MK8 is a bit louder. It also seems like it comparing your videos.
Either way, OPF really is a nuisance.

@@aidengallagher6774 I might. Tired driving manual and I want a sunroof. I’m gonna get a good price for my used golf R because of low mileage. I remember when the MK7 came out people were saying MK6 was better and MK7 was ugly and blablabla. So used to this hate for the new golf R. It’s not new. Lol
I may do so in 2-3 years. The performance improvement overweights the lack-of-button infotainment design.

@@TheRacingShawn I’m still unsure about the buttonless layout but do have faith VW will address a lot of the negatives bought forward for the mk8.5
For example the silly touch climate adjustment. Ford have just released an integrated HVAC system into the new Focus and it works much better than VWs

Aambient lightning only works at night. Day time only works when I open or close the doors. Can you change that? I want ambient lightning during day time also without it being faded out.

It looks good from the outside but that infotainment system is pretty bad. Controlling everything through a touchscreen which also includes using the airconditioning is bad design. Why not keep the round knobs from the MK7? Those work perfectly and is easy to use on the go.

I don't like the interior sound, design and handling. MK7 was better in all these disciplines. But it looks great from the outside and from what I've heard it must drive exceptionally well. Volkswagen really stepped up their game in terms of driving with the latest R models.
Why does the Clubsport and TCR always looks better...

Around $45,000 if i’m not wrong but the special and drift mode will be an option so more expensive if you want these modes :/

Well its the special model with extra equimpent, kinda like complaining that the A 45S AMG is more expensive than the standart A-Class.
sounds like shit from inside , Pops an bangs are the new thing now than a actually loud exhaust.
Its because of the gpf filter will never get a super loud exhaust with it on the car...and as thats the akrapovic exhaust option the standard exhaust will be even more quieter like the 7.5
I'm disappointed with the cabin engine sound, it's terrible! My 7.5 R is much better sounding. I think I'm going with the new Formentor VZ Edition, such value and looks boss tbh.
