As a medical student also apply for those engineering bursaries write a letter explaining why you are applying. It might be your lucky day. I know people doing medicine on engineering bursaries.
I remember watching this video last year while I was doing Comm Serve in Nursing. I was still playing around with the idea of going into Medicine. fast forward to 2021, I'm sitting with 2 acceptance letters from UP and SMU, I am here again watching this video. thank you for have our back sis.
You're not alone. It's been 3 years trying to get funding. The burden of studying and worrying about finances is depressing but we will get through it.❤ one day. Keep applying. Keep Going
To be honest, I always drag my feet when it comes to applying for bursaries because it requires a lot of work and takes a toll on my mental health. Knowing I'm not the only one who feels this way was really reassuring. But having a clear game plan is surely going to be helpful. Thank you for the words of encouragement.

Wanted to ask if someone has a template for "explain why you're applying" that I could use and edit to improve my chances, I'm not really that good with writing letters and that's why I'm asking
Listen Kundi is doing the Lords work because wow I mean its all well and good for us to talk about it but she actually puts all the links there! 😭 Kudos to her! Also I wanted to ask since you mentioned you're applying, don't you apply once and get funding for the duration of the 6 years? I mean we just fill in progress reports each year to get your funding renewed for that degree
Hey sis🌻 So not all bursaries are willing to fund for the duration of your degree and sometimes you can get funding but they won't pay all of your fees🥺 so yeah one has to keep applying
@@becomingdrmothapo154 that is so wild! Like what do they expect you do when you are like years in? Just hey we will fund you for your first year then after that you're on your ace? Aowa. That is wrong. At least have it on a conditional basis ke like if you pass like this then we will continue funding you. But just to leave you high and dry?
@@BlackGirlScientist it is abit disheartening at times I won't lie...the reason they usually dont commit is because it's very expensive and also it's for a period of 6 years...most degrees in SA are 3 years so they're more willing to fund on a short term basis🥺 but yeah one has to keep praying and keep trying 🌻
Yes most of them do. I know quite a number of people who got funded by ISFAP from first year. I would suggest applying to ALL if you can just so you can better your chances of getting atleast one🌻 wishing you all the best with the process. Dont give up, something will work out 🌻
Hey thanks for your vids they mean a lot ❤️ quick question I want to know are the specific bursaries you can apply to if your a gemp med student at wits
Things are quite tricky when you're a GEMP student because some bursaries dont fund second degrees...I do however suggest you apply to the ones I mentioned and just explain in your motivational letter why you really need the bursary. The bursaries I mentioned and the ones in Kundis blog are the ones I'd advise you apply for. I know of some people who are on bursaries which didnt even fund people in medicine but are now funded because they applied anyway. Wishing you all the best with your application process🌻
@@becomingdrmothapo154 Thank you. So I have a friend who wants to get in the gemp program but she is doing the clinical medical associates degree right I don't know a lot about it but the question is can one get in med school after finishing that bechalors degree?
In all honesty, funding for international students is quite scarce. I would suggest checking out the bursaries listed and see if they fund international, some crowd funding sites do allow international student. Wishing you all the best 🌻🌻

Is there a difference when I use nsfas from someone who has a bursary. Will it affect me when I have to go for internship or there's no difference?
I'm not sure what NSFAS agreements are with students, please find out from them. Should I hear anything I'll come back here and let you know
The only difference I think would be that they wouldn’t have medical school debt and you would have to pay back the NSFAS money.( not sure when)
