The Vanquish S is Aston Martin's flagship super-GT and since buying my 'regular' Vanquish I have been pondering the upgrade path. Now it's time to let my car go, I headed to Aston Martin Edinburgh to go out for a spin in their Vanquish S Coupe to see what the changes are all about. What do you think, should the new S be added to my garage in the future?
I told my late wife a bit before she passed away. That maybe we should pick up an Aston Martin second hand. As wouldn't the drives back and forth to her doctor's appointments in hospitals be far more enjoyable in an Aston Martin then in the back of an ambulance. It made her laugh. If I had an Aston Martin even if it was not in running condition I would sit in the driveway in it and make vroom vroom sounds.
Shmee150 oh God the vanquishes deprecates like a rock I swear. The first year you will loose 100k usd then the second year just go ahead and chop an extra 50k or more from the value. Buying a vanquish is literally like throwing away 150k in the trash hahahahahw
Bought an Vanquish volante at the beginning of summer ,just selling it back to the dealer in late August ,loss £1,000, better than a fiesta, and what a car, loved it so much my S has just been delivered to a different dealer. They are producing very few S's. They will not loose heavily, especially the volutes, in my opinion
Richard John agreed they may not depreciate in value too much because, let's face it this is the last naturally aspirated general production car they make but what if a limited Vanquish AMR arrives that means this one gets a kicking surely?
No man! I love you shmee and you're spending so much on all these cars yet you never have time to drive them, you're always on the road driving the most awesome cars in the world, driving cars that have been lent to you, press releases, etc etc. Just get a good daily, and something nice on the side like your mini or the morgan 3-wheeler and you're good! :) I know some of these cars don't depreciate but honestly you don't need 6 cars if you're never home haha.
Hi Tim. That car is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME. I would whole heartedly go for the Vanquish S. the sound the look and the quality. Also the last Vanquish to be naturally aspirated. That sound. Oh my goodness. If I had the opportunity then I would jump at the chance and the first run would be in Scotland on the famous 500.
I love how much of a businessman you are Tim. You bought the Volante for a purpose, it's now served that purpose and now you're selling it to get (at least some of) your money back instead of holding on to it and letting the value of it decrease.
The sounds at 8:30 onwards are amazing. The transmission’s shifts do seem noticeably quicker and crisper than older VH platform models too. Not as quick as a Ferrari F12, but more than quick enough, and it lets you keep your foot down longer to legally enjoy the power and sound longer than you could on a Ferrari.
In my humble opinion, I think an upgrade to the aston martin vanquish s would be too little of a change when compared to the vanquish carbon edition you have at the moment. As a regular viewer, I would love to see something more distinct as a successor to your vanquish. Ever thought about the mercedes sls or the new bentley supersports for example? For me this would be more interesting to see on your channel as it is more of a change. However, the vanquish s has the brilliant sounding v12 and just looks stunning! Anyway, keep up the good work! Enjoying it as always!
That's got to be one of the best looking and sounding cars of all time! I hired a DB9 Carbon Edition for my wedding and it was worth every penny just for the noise!
I think you should totally get a vanquish s. You clearly love Aston martins, as do I, and I can see you really appreciating owning one of you do get it.
Tim, you should ABSOLUTELY upgrade to this car. It is probably the most beautiful car made. I vote to get it in that same grey colour with orange highlights like your GT8. And I agree with you on the carbon fibre... twill weave is much nicer. Cheers.
The exhaust valves do no react to the steering. Its the idle changing slightle due to the power steering pump working harder when the steering wheel is turned to pump fluid to one side of the rack or the other and causes a slight draw on the engine which in turn is heard as an audible change in engine note due to the idle decrease.
If you watch the video with automatic captions, when Shmee isn't talking, it recognises the engine sound as "music", which to me seemed quite appropriate!
I never thought I'd be able to afford an AM Vanquish but now that I can I really am not certain if I want one. It has been a childhood infatuation of mine too.
Beautiful car, but what madness led AM to place the hood-release lever in the passenger footwell? Flip your Vanquish if you must, Tim, but I hope you never relinquish your GT8.
For me, current generation Vanquish (especially Vanquish S) is the most beautiful AM ever made. It hase just too much style and presence, great engine and exhaust note. I really like this sepc, it just looks different and special, not that usual boring black/white/silver car, but only if it had carbon interior like yours... All in all if you are able to upgrade to Vanquish S, than why not.
The only thing that I don't really like much about this car is wheels. It isn't that they're ugly. But they just don't look as nice as the optional one offered on the regular Vanquish model, and the Vanquish Zagato, in my opinion.
I'd say get it if you really want to, Tim. But, to me, once you collect your GT-R, I think your original plan that the Volante was just a placeholder will go into fruition.
Hello Shmee I think that u must go for it. If you ask my opinion I will say you must upgrade into vanquish s , it's more aggressive and more fun. Although it's up to you.
I honestly don't see why you would. It's more of a cross grade than an upgrade. If it had the DB11 interior and infotainment package, then it would be a yes
Hi Shmee. Why not "upgrading" to an Aston Martin DBS? Exactly how we have seen it in the James Bond Movies. Now that´s a real beauty. The current Vanquish surely is a beauty as well, but I personally would not go for it (if i had the money ;)) because of the rear end. The DBS is what I call perfect. From each angle. Yes, it´s an older platform. And probably, it is not produced anymore. But as you go for a carefully groomed used one with low mileage, you save some money. But way more important: You drive one of the most beautiful cars ever made. Just my opinon Cheers.
£209,950 is a lot for that Vanquish S, good move in holding off until prices come down. 12 to 18 months could lead to a more reasonable price, likely still low mileage. It does sound sublime though doesn't it, cracking way to announce one's arrival (& departure).
I reckon that for me, it would have to come down to, on the one hand, do I want the extra little "S-ness" for its additional S-ness, or if I'm predominantly wanting it for touring and as it's still a GT, do I want the more pure "GT-ness" e.g. slightly less firm ride and more elegant/pure GT looks of the non-S? I can definitely see the attraction, but I guess in theory, other-than-GT does the "S-ness" better. But then again it's a NA V12 and the S has a little more of that :)
Thats exactly what I would expect from AM - same form but with high and fast revving engine. They shown that they can with Vuclan model, now they HAVE TO translate that into the road. Ferrari really needs some proper competitor like 10 years ago.
Yes, I am just selling my Vanquish Volante for an S. The difference is huge, its been said that its the best Aston ever. You can feel the power, it looks so much better and the sound OMG, The best sounding car ever, Its Like an Orchestra
Will do so so excited, (Got it in Ceramic grey) I think they will be a collectors item also as probably the last Normally aspirated Aston V12.I loved my regular one also, fantastic cars
What i don't understand is that you mentioned a few times that the vanquish s or even the gtc4lusso to expensive is. What about the ford GT with its pricetag? But a v12 with no turbo's, cool, pretty soon that's over. So take your change
I asked and they said the S is the last version of the Vanquish . They said there will be a new Vanquish and a DBS. Also production will cease soon and there will be very limited numbers produced , so fingers crossed
Also my opinion the Mercedes AMG GT-R sounds better than the vantage-8. And who has the most experience with 8 cylinder engines Mercedes of course. Remember the Le mans Mercedes C-9/ C11 in 1988, 89, 90 and 91 some of my favorite race cars. Very awesome sounding V8 race engines.
Tim, if you’re coming to the London Classic Car Show in February, please pop by the AMOC stand, Red 10 will be there & it would be a pleasure to show you round it? H
I like the aero upgrades. No offense to either car, but its the Vantage 8 meets the Vanquish. Sell both the vantage 8 and convertible vanquish for this car the best of both worlds. Thats my idea. and i'm sticking to it.
The Vanquish S is Aston Martin's flagship super-GT and since buying my 'regular' Vanquish I have been pondering the upgrade path. Shmee150 YES! For the love of God, buy one!
It shouldn't be a question xD
Shmee150 yes
Shmee150 yes u should upgrade to vanquish s
Shmee150 NJ
I told my late wife a bit before she passed away. That maybe we should pick up an Aston Martin second hand. I saw and heard a vanquish s the other day and the noise is addictive!
Tell me about it!
i saw a aston the other day and thought it was a mondeo.
....
Apollo00 z not true
ikr
Answer is heart felt yes, but can you cope with the depreciation ?
Somebody got straight to the kicker! Very true
watching this vid again and I'd get one, only here once and all that.
Shmee150 oh God the vanquishes deprecates like a rock I swear. The first year you will loose 100k usd then the second year just go ahead and chop an extra 50k or more from the value. Buying a vanquish is literally like throwing away 150k in the trash hahahahahw

The video that made me fall in love with a Vanquish S, even after 5 years still the love of my life.
Next video :STRAIGHT PIPING MY VANQUISH S! Oops wrong channel
LOL xD
corrected next video: Collecting my new vanquish s
5 things i HATE about the vanquish S
Shmee150 so my man Wich channel is he talking about lol
Vehicle virgins?
I really wouldn't swap the vanquish for the vanquish s , it is way too similar. Go for some bigger changes and maybe for some new experiences.
I am agreeing or now, hence my Vanquish is going and the AMG GT R arrive to replace it for now.
When is your AMG due to arrive?
I love the depth and detail you go into, Shmee! Keep it up!
At 4:53 I found myself wondering what wheels were in the red Fiesta... I love the Aston, but I got bored...
Years later he has 10+

Oh my goodness. If I had the opportunity then I would jump at the chance and the first run would be in Scotland on the famous 500.
I was next to a Vanquish S as we drove through the Tyne Tunnel last week, the sound was glorious!
And it may not have 12in screens but omg it's beautiful Inside, like it's made by a savill row tailor, everyone is blown away who got into mine
excellent job again by shmee !!!!...following for 3 years and counting
Thanks for the support!
Tim please when you press down the gas pedal stop talking I want to hear the beautiful music that car makes!
My absolute dream car is a Vanquish S Volante. This is a MUST for your fleet
Great video Tim. I love the Aston's. Definitely a used one after it has had its big depreciation.
I love how much of a businessman you are Tim. You bought the Volante for a purpose, it's now served that purpose and now you're selling it to get (at least some of) your money back instead of holding on to it and letting the value of it decrease.
I love your pure excitement! She sounds beautiful!
The center console is actually marble carbon fiber, which shimmers quite lovely in the sunshine

Both cars are stunning
The color combination on this one just looks so stunning
I think you should totally get a vanquish s. You clearly love Aston martins, as do I, and I can see you really appreciating owning one of you do get it.
Just wait until the prices drop some more, first enjoy your other cars!
Hey Shmee - for the record, James Bond did drive a Vanquish in Die Another Day. Or as Q liked to call it - the “Vanish”
I was on the Aston website today looking at this very car and then next thing Tim's driving it round the roads a mile from where I live!
Tim, you should ABSOLUTELY upgrade to this car. It is probably the most beautiful car made.
I vote to get it in that same grey colour with orange highlights like your GT8.
And I agree with you on the carbon fibre... twill weave is much nicer.
Cheers.
Hell yes get one Tim. Such a beautiful car! That sound of the engine! Wow!
Buy the vanquish s if you want! Its a really nice car. I love this colour combination, it looks really nice
looks stunnig in that grey but i´d rather wait for a "dbs-Version" of the db11
Buy one for sure! This time do the blue extras vs the entire care in your normal blue.
The exhaust valves do no react to the steering. Its the idle changing slightle due to the power steering pump working harder when the steering wheel is turned to pump fluid to one side of the rack or the other and causes a slight draw on the engine which in turn is heard as an audible change in engine note due to the idle decrease.
Excellent video as usual Tim
Adam Herbert thanks man!
If you watch the video with automatic captions, when Shmee isn't talking, it recognises the engine sound as "music", which to me seemed quite appropriate!
I really don't see you talk about the other cars the same way, I would keep it!!
I never thought I'd be able to afford an AM Vanquish but now that I can I really am not certain if I want one.
It has been a childhood infatuation of mine too.
This is the most beautiful and powerful naturally aspirated regular production car Aston will ever make. Get it for sure!
Awesome video tim
Sounds great and looks awesome, if I could afford one I would 'pull the trigger' no doubt. Have fun!!!
This thing is crazy, do it. Just get something special on the looks side. More like bright inside and with out any stripes on the outside.
That car with the entertainment system of the DB11 would be perfect. I would sell my house to have a car with that sound in a heartbeat
The sound of that V!2 is so primitive. Absolutly fantastic!
Nice dealership in Edinburgh park u can get a brilliant shot of a Aston from the stairs in the showroom
Been looking at a 2014 model, think after your review I will bring it home.
I love this car!! Go for it!! - and please stay with Aston!
Beautiful car, but what madness led AM to place the hood-release lever in the passenger footwell? Flip your Vanquish if you must, Tim, but I hope you never relinquish your GT8.

All in all if you are able to upgrade to Vanquish S, than why not.
First thoughts before watch all video is yes do it but converable so it's a all round like your current vanquish.
Loved being able to listen to the engine noise Tim - it's a beautiful thing. Not sure if you need this car in your garage though ???
The only thing that I don't really like much about this car is wheels. It isn't that they're ugly. But they just don't look as nice as the optional one offered on the regular Vanquish model, and the Vanquish Zagato, in my opinion.
Great Video like always! What a car! There is nothing with more class than an Aston Martin.
It looks really cool with the blue parts and the sound is amazing
I'd say get it if you really want to, Tim. But, to me, once you collect your GT-R, I think your original plan that the Volante was just a placeholder will go into fruition.
Push it, you can definitely feel the extra power, it has a revised set up also
Big fan of vanquish but that is minor changes from regular vanquish, so how about the price on vanquish s?
Seems very smooth and comfortable for riding in a land jet.
Tied for 1st place for the best sounding car along with the LFA as far as i'm concerned. Buy it!
Hello Shmee
I think that u must go for it.
If you ask my opinion I will say you must upgrade into vanquish s , it's more aggressive and more fun.
Although it's up to you.
Absolutely!!! Get THAT car with THAT spec!!!
Scottjb86 That car is gorgeous!
One of the best looking cars ever, so classy
I know the FF has more cargo but why keep the FF and get a Vanquish S when you also have the Vantage GT8?
If you want a GT cruiser with a V12, why wouldn't you get a DB11 Volante (when it gets released), I wonder...
I honestly don't see why you would. It's more of a cross grade than an upgrade. If it had the DB11 interior and infotainment package, then it would be a yes

Fantastic video! Never clicked off Doug DeMuro so quickly! xD
Love'em... AM's are just beautiful machines!

OH SHMEE YES PLEASE !!! THAT V12 SOUND IS OUT OF THIS WORLD ....
Sounds great but why do they shift the RPM needle to go the wrong way?
Thats exactly what I would expect from AM - same form but with high and fast revving engine. They shown that they can with Vuclan model, now they HAVE TO translate that into the road. Ferrari really needs some proper competitor like 10 years ago.
Love this color comnation. Best looking aston I've ever seen.
Yes, I am just selling my Vanquish Volante for an S. The difference is huge, its been said that its the best Aston ever. You can feel the power, it looks so much better and the sound OMG, The best sounding car ever, Its Like an Orchestra
Enjoy the new car!
Will do so so excited, (Got it in Ceramic grey) I think they will be a collectors item also as probably the last Normally aspirated Aston V12.I loved my regular one also, fantastic cars
I love that car. But, what do you think about the 812SF, compare to the Vanquish?
Its stunning too)
It really is👌🏻
I got pictures of this Aston Martin car, its so beautiful.
Yes man do it I love your videos. I had a Gallardo for a while and just purchased a Performente last month do go for it Tim
This looks SO much better than the DB11
Look at the satnav screen.
How much is it?
Aston is taking the piss.
Yes that's a very good idea Shmee.
What is the best sounding v12 for you, btw amazing video.
Seriously tough call between the 6l Aston and the 6.3/6.5l Ferrari, I don't know.
Shmee please come to Ignition on the Saturday!!
I cannot, I am only there on Friday.
Vanquish S Is very nice to see the refueling But would you buy Vanquish S or just a long time? But can buy
i think the FF and Vanquish should go and you should get an SLS Black Series. If not, i think the S is a good, great upgrade to the Vanquish
That rear end is sexy as hell. This is definitely not a typical Aston. Love it.
Are you aleo interested in the DB11? I'd take a look at it.
Should you upgrade? Absolutely thats just stunning!
How much more will You pay when you Trade/sell your other vanquish. ?? :)
Only a good move if you get it in that awesome color combo
Hi yes you should and must thanks for this pure engine moment
Tim, if you’re coming to the London Classic Car Show in February, please pop by the AMOC stand, Red 10 will be there & it would be a pleasure to show you round it? H
I will not be at the show unfortunately.
Next video: I've sold all my cars & got myself an electric bike 🚲
Awais X he should they go the same speed as he drives
Love the car but not really quite like the dbs.. is it possible to make a comparison ? or simply the dbs can't stand at the same level?
Definitely buy one! But I'd wait for values do go down a bit
I like the aero upgrades. No offense to either car, but its the Vantage 8 meets the Vanquish. Sell both the vantage 8 and convertible vanquish for this car the best of both worlds. Thats my idea. and i'm sticking to it.
