Hello Yvo, You probably already know this but... nr3 showa is a black fish with red and white patterns. the basic color of the fish is black not white. You can see when the showa is born all the 'wanted' fish are black. all fish which are not black are not selected to grow on. the Kohaku and Sanke are white fish which will develop red and black patterns.

Question re the Showa in the video - says it is a White fish with Red and Black markings. However I always understood it to be a Black fish with White and Red markings. When I spawn them I always sort out the Black fry to raise as showa.
You are correct showa is black with red and white markings. The fry are always all black and at the koi shows when they are being judged they look inside there mouth it should be black or mostly black.
You sifted through a lot of videos to pick some awesome examples. My favorite is showa sanshoku. Your example was super. Number 14 is a Yamanashiki, I think. Your Platinum Ogon category should be titled the Ogon category with Platinum and Yamabuki color choices. Great idea for a video!

The 14th koi is a Kin Showa. Which is a metalik (hikari) version of showa sanshoku and it belongs to Hikari Utsurimono family. Well they won’t really grow in a 65 gallon tank. Koi need a large pond, clean water and at least 10 gallons per inch of fish. This means your tank would be overstocked with one 7 inch koi, let alone 5. A quality koi in ideal conditions will grow an inch or more a month in the first couple years.

Koi 14 must be Kin showa because it must be a well know variety. All with a very exotic name almost nobody knows are faulty because this variety would have never made into this video. Please continue making koi videos.
Those koifish are all beautiful for me..im also a fish keeper here in the philippines..but not that kind of koi fish from japan..its a local carp hete to ua..tnx koi partner

Personally I appreciate any healthy, well proportioned koi but I have a real soft spot for a really well marked and pretty goromo..the best one's look like a living oil painting.
