    You are literally the Queen of Charms!
    Everything you make is lovely, but you definitely excel at charms. No matter what old thing you cut up to make them, they always look so professional and shop-bought.
    I love your voice and the way you pronounce your English, and watching you work is so soothing because you're very "calm" and your voice turns almost to a whisper when you're engrossed in the process.

    My husband found a huge roll of thin copper at a yard sale, and I've been cutting and embossing ever since. That was over 10 years ago. I'm getting really low, so I will be using our aluminum cans next. You are doing an amazing job with this. If you ever get any thin copper, try the same thing, then put it in Miracle gro plant fertilizer
    Mixed with water and beautiful verdigris will gather in the nooks and crannies, creating beautiful works of art. I love this video.❤❤❤

    Hello, Aluminum doesn't rust, so you would be waiting a long time for rust to show up. Rust is oxidized iron. Thanks for sharing your process though! Lots of good ideas, ❤

    • @Saacibo
      @Saacibo  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You’re very welcome! Glad you liked it. Oh, I know the aluminum doesn’t rust but I was hoping when I placed it in the rust it might stick to it, as in color it. The same way I dye papers with rust. To my disappointment it just slid off, it wouldn’t stick to it at all 😊

      @@Saacibo Yes, this is why airplanes are made from aluminum, so they don't rust and because no metal sticks to it, making airplanes aerodynamic. I do think aluminum patinas, but it's a white crusty film that isn't very interesting and hard to see..

    This week this is a second revolution in the world I love to escape to. The first one was in yesterday’s video of Treasure Books channel (backing up magazine images with no glue, project 12). In this video the material and creations made of it are both extraordinary. I am afraid to cut myself and aluminum cans do not enter my house (and if they do, in my province in Canada we bring them to the bottle depot to get the deposit money back). But still, super interesting. I wonder if I can do something similar with several layers of heavy-duty foil I use in my cooking… Need to try that.

    • @Saacibo
      @Saacibo  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Unfortunately, cutting up the cans is a bit of a risk. A few people mentioned in the comments that they like to cut aluminum trays, the ones that are used for baking. I haven’t tried with those, yet. Aluminum foil is thin but perhaps gluing it first to card stock and then cutting might work.
      Thank you so much for watching and for your kind comment. I appreciate it very much ❤️❤️❤️

    I started cutting up cans like this a few months ago when I realized how thin the walls of Pellegrino Essenza cans are. I found that if you rip off the key on top (so it doesn’t get in the way) you can use an Oxo type can opener on the side edge of the top to get the top off. Then I just use a utility shears (or pruning scissors) to cut down the side and then work around the bottom to get that off. It is a whole lot less dangerous than using a craft knife.

    Aluminum doesn't "rust" like Steel, or Iron. Which is corrosive, and eats away at the metal., until it is broken/eaten away. Instead, Aluminum, forms "Aluminum Oxide' a whiteish coating. It actually PROTECTS the aluminum from damage. It has to be removed to paint it properly, otherwise it isn't a problem..like Iron and Steel "rust" is.

    Too easily and safely cut your can, use a tin snip or wire cutter and make a slit in the drink opening, down to the shoulder of the can. Now insert a pair of scissors, into the slit and cut around, until top is off. Once top is off, take scissors and cut down the side to bottom, cut around bottom of can until it’s off. No utility knife or jagged edges. Aluminum is still sharp, of course so use caution.

    Question one: What type of needle did you use in sewing machine?
    Question two: What setting’s is your machine at?
    Question three: What damage can this do to my sewing machine?

    • @Saacibo
      @Saacibo  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I used heavy duty needle, designed for sewing jeans.
      Settings were: the longest stitch because I didn’t want too many holes close together and just straight/ running stitch.
      I haven’t had any damage to my sewing machine so far but I can’t tell you for certain. There’s always a bit of a risk. I once damaged a machine beyond repair by using just thin stretchy cotton jersey.
      My machine is Brother ST371HD Strong and Tough Sewing Machine.
      Hope this helps😊

    an easier way to cut open the can is to use a can opener on the top of the can ( nice clean cut) then cut from top to bottom with scissors following a straight line down to shaped bottom of the can , cut around the bottom of the straight side cut around the bottom of the can . Ta Da! any lines that are not perfectly straight can then be trimmed to straight lines . Love what you do but don't like all the brown .....fine as an accent but personally I like prettier colors over icky brown

    • @Saacibo
      @Saacibo  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for the cutting advice. I appreciate it. I am drawn to earthy colors and vintage look at the moment. I’ve been going through “color” phases all my life. I got out of the bright and vivid about 10 years ago, but lately some of these colors started sneaking into my work again. 😊

    Aluminum won't rust naturally. Metals like paper clips, wire, safety pins etc will rust.

    • @Saacibo
      @Saacibo  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s true. I guess I was hoping for a bit of a rust color at least, in a similar way to dyeing paper with rust, but it just wouldn’t stick to it. 😊
