    It’s really cool getting a new players perspective of the game. Especially since you’ve dabbled in 3 different versions. But your hardcore take and classic take in general was perfectly spot on. I mainly play retail. Cutting edge raider and push decently high keys. The level of toxicity can definitely be a turn off. But I’ve been playing a fair bit of hardcore the past few weeks with the new servers. Have a 38 druid and 35 warrior. In fear that I might lose one haha. But the best part about hardcore is just the atmosphere. Everyone’s so friendly. So helpful. We all share the same goal. Make it to 60 without dying. People are providing their feedback. Random people running by and always buffing you. Doing the best they can. It really is a wonderful thing and part of the reason I fell in love with the game in the first place. I hope you enjoy your time with wow. It really is an amazing game for all kinds of people.

      Thanks for leaving such a good comment 😀 that’s exactly it! When I log into hardcore I’m half looking forward to playing and half looking forward to seeing who’s online and who I might bump into.
      The long walks I initially thought I might find boring but the atmosphere makes them welcome.
      Thank you for the welcome!!

    I loved this video, thank you Galahad. As someone who loves Retail and Classic and has spent the last few days enjoying the heck out of Hardcore, you nailed all the points and I agreed with everything you said.

    I'm glad you had the opportunity to experience WoW in various ways. It is indeed vastly different from when it all began. I've been playing with my husband since it was released in 2004, and still play. Now however, we don't play hardcore like we did and did nothing but raiding, but now it is way more casual for us and we have our own little guild for just he and I. I agree with you on the music and ambiance, it is amazing, and sometimes when I have a chance, I turn up the volume! Another aspect I thoroughly enjoy is the lore, and the phylosopy developers have sewn into the game. Some of my favorite quotes come from WoW. In fact, my all time favorite is "Regret nothing done out of love" ~Qadarin

    The best part of the game is, if u want to do something u can do it. It just depends on yourself! I played in 2004, I sucked. But when classic came out in 2019, I played again and did what I wish I did back then! Felt great! I played through cata originally. Now from 2019 I’ve done the same, on and off but I finally got to kill Arthas in wrath!! Now I’m still going and working on heroic fire lands, killed heroic domo!! It’s great being able to achieve things I wanted too before!!!

    A very fair appraisal and sets out, I think, what really separates Classic and Retail. I followed you from early on and watched up to The War Within, but after I levelled 3 characters to 80 I felt the pull of classic again. "I could have levelled two characters to 80 in the same time..." yeah, exactly, took me two weeks to level 3 to 80 and then i got bored, probably because i let go of the fomo a long time ago so new 'stuff' only holds your attention for so long.
    It's right that each version will hold interest for different people depending on what you are looking for in a game. M+ and collectibles is a big draw for Retail, but for us classic andies the simpler gameplay and social interactions make for a more chill vibe i think.
    Hardcore certainly brings that extra twist. From a veteran who has played for 20 years, it's humbling to get killed by something stupid and you have to have a healthy respect for the mobs even when you think you are 'safe'. I havent died yet this time round, but just plodding around on my shaman taking my time :D
    Something that made me laugh was catching your stream the other day, to see you swimming around the coast. I did think "wtf!" lol, but then it reminded me that it's those kind of adventures that you remember with fondness.
    Whatever people choose to play, as we say... GLHF!

  • @Cherokeelion
    @Cherokeelion 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    You arent wrong. Classic wow is a social game. Retail you can do and feel isolated and bored in an entire crowd of people.
    Hardcore is… the experience most of us had in the very beginning with Classic trying to stay alive. The similarity to hardcore was “Repair”. When you died ALL your gear got dinged, so you really wanted to NOT die, plus sometimes you would die in the most unrezzable predicament and have to rez at the graveyard… boy, that hurt. That was amplified in hard dungeons and raids. Good guilds mattered back then because they would fund the raiders repair bills as they fought hard bosses. Hardcore is that fear of losing all that hard work amplified to 100. Really fun for us veterans!

      I used to do things for the same reason. Now, every new bit of story and lore repels me and makes me want to play less. If it wasn't for Classic, I wouldn't be subbed at all.

  • @marydanielle7183
    @marydanielle7183 8 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    You are so lucky to get in and be able to level in dragonflight. Previously leveling was a mess since the previous expansions weren’t so great. Players were thrown in and have no idea what’s going on. Dragonflight is way better to get started in since it’s a “new start”
    I have played since vanilla. I was really young so didn’t really actually level until towards the end and near the release of BC. The wonderful thing about vanilla is that leveling is apart of the journey. While I didn’t get to end game until really late I still had so much fun in the game. Retail has a problem of being centered in the endgame. I don’t feel like I’m actually playing until I’m max level. The endgame grind never appealed to me so I don’t play retail for that reason. I tend to finish the expansion story and move back to classic.

    As a person that have played WoW for 20 years now I feel the same about HC as you. It is for me the best of all WoW games. Players are nice, helpful and supporting. No one want to see someone die. Well except for a few griefers. But they don't last for long. HC is also the best way to really understand how important it is to think before you pull. Is there a healer in the mob group, or a mob with any other ability that can make you sleep or give you some harmful debuff. How do I use my abilities best in any given situation. So I can stay alive. To learn aggro range. For me it is kind of easy as all this is a feeling I got over the years. But I have died because of that feeling, been reckless. But now I know, that even after 20 years I can do stupid things, when you not are on your toes all the time. AFK on a place I thought was safe just to come back dead! Before HC I didn't care about all those little reckless things. It was just a little run back to your body. But to die in HC as lvl 57 because I thought I know the game in and out is going to punish me. I like that, it makes me a better player both solo and in a group. I have never in all years seen a group do the best they can for the whole group as in HC.

      @@iceborn698 That’s awesome! I have so so so much to learn about the game. From HC to retail. But for sure HC has helped me to slow down and think. I am nearing level 20 on my first HC character and it has taken me hours and hours. A mixture of low confidence in my ability to survive but also because of my attachment to my current character. HC is an absolute blast and has really got me back into gaming again! Thank you for sharing your experience 🫡

    I only play retail wow. I was 32 when I started playing in January 2007 and just turned 50. The best advertisement for all the different stages of the game are the millions of TH-cam videos. You can see the dungeon side, the raid side, the pvp side, the mount collecting, the pet collecting, title farming, professions, gold farming, the secrets that include mounts and pets. There is a video for each of the more than 34,000 quests. In my opinion hardcore is a joke, The real hardcore is "The Ironman Challenge" which has it's own website and connects to your account. Try playing the game in white or gray gear only (no stats), no trades, no buffs, no enchants, no stat food, no mage ports (unless you are a mage) you can only sell what you have farmed on the auction house (no help from alts), no grouping with others and of course no deaths. I personally pvp and collect mounts and pets. With 731 mounts and 1,596 pets I absolutely love it. I have made friends from across the U.S. to Canada and Australia. It's a game, if it's not fun don't play it, if you don't like an aspect of it don't participate. It's great to hear you appreciate the award winning music, I love it too. I use macros of the music from my favorite zones. You can get them from wowhead and play them over less favorable music. Your video was well thought out and I appreciate your insight.
