i think the best thing about this WoW journey for you is all the friends youre making along the way its fun to see you in a group setting for a change grub much love
Grubby, I'm sure youre aware, but your situation is so incredibly unique. Not only is this basically your first time playing this game (which in and of itself is pretty amazing) but you began with this massive community of people, your guild of streamers, that was there to have fun with you and help you. Yes, WoW is a very social game, and guilds are not uncommon, but what you walked into is incredibly unique and rare. Sodapoppin really should be given a heap of praise for what he put together.
What you should do imo to get the full experience is once OnlyFangs runs is course, transfer your character to one of the classic servers that will progress eventually through the expansions. You've started at the perfect time to take advantage of that with the new servers.
Don't worry about not making it to 60 on time for the raids. People will keep dying, especially in raids, and more people will have to come to replace them.
Grubby has been my bridge into enjoying the current wow content. I love seeing the the classic game enjoyed for the first time by so many people. Wow classic is all fan service, and the community that pushed it to this height probably feels extreme reward and gratitude from seeing new players find that magic. (I especially like seeing it through a Warcraft 3 players lense.) The way you ask questions and have been breaking down mechanics has actually been teaching the older players as well. The social connection is great from the Onlyfangs movement, especially Grubby. I love to see the streamers building their empire in this way
To be fair, the only thing classic has changed is the legal ability of streamers to play it. Non-streamers could play it long before and for free. The legal system is cringe. - Adûnâi
Would love to see a tier list of favorite WoW zones! As one of the most experienced WC3 players I absolutely adore seeing your takes on the lore and worldbuilding.
This WoW hardcore event almost reminds me of WoW on launch with the social aspect. Classic didn't capture that for me when I went back and tried it, and of course its completely gone from retail. You also talked about your first time seeing WC3 monsters in WoW. A memory that will stick with me forever is seeing Abominations and Ziggurats when I loaded up the stress test they did pre-launch as a 10 y/o kid, since I loved Undead in WC3.
Seeing meatwagons and abominations in the under city, which you destroyed as Arthas. Seeing glaive throwers and ancients of war, the orc encampment in the forest that you created as Grom WoW classic hits different when you know the lore
Also next year there will be Burning Crusade Classic! I play through all of the retail expansions but really struggle to get into anything for longer than a month or so. I usually resubscribe and level to max and do a few dungeons and the raid maybe and then go back to classic BC/WotLK or other games. Happy you're here!
What an amazing experience it has been watching a gamer of your caliber in the RTS realm play and experience the hidden gem that is WOW hardcore. I look forward to seeing you hit 60 and raid.
The best dungeon in the game is of course without a doubt Blackrock Depths. Its so insanely large its more like an underground zone. I think retail really went way too streamlined in its goal not to confuse and annoy their players. So, none of the more modern dungeons have the complexity and variety of Blackrock Depths. It also has some great and more unique areas and bosses mechanics-wise. The bar is of course great, the Seven is another interesting boss fight. The Lyceum is fun and different. Really hope Grubby makes it to a high enough level he can check it out.
Love it! I hope we can see you in the raids, that would be awesome! I'd also love to see you play alliance the next time :) I think you will really like the zones if you're into arathi highlands and ashenvale! Everyone also kinda of agrees that the alliance storyline is better, just because blizz did alliance content first and kind of ran out of time when designing the horde quests so they were a bit rushed
I think reaching level 60 shouldn't be too hard now. I also managed to do it on my 2nd attempt and I think you have learned enough about what it takes. But raiding in HC? That's a bravery I wasn't able to muster. I've done a few Level 60 5 man-dungeons and then stopped playing that character. I raided in Non-HC-classic and while a lot of stuff isn't particularly hard, some specific bosses we definitely needed several tries because one mistake from one person can easily cost everyone their life. And without ever practicing these fights before in a more forgiving environment, it's hard to imagine noone making such crucial mistake.
Ahhh hearing your experience as both a newer player to classic wow and to hardcore has been so much fun!! Ive only been watching your videos, also playing a mage for my first time in classic, and watching you try aoe mage inspired me to try it, and it's SUCH a unique experience. Even though I don't do much of classic wow with other people, it's super cool to see how you start using your other utility spells so much more. Mage has SO much more utility than a lot of other classes-- you can just slow enemies or root them so they no longer harass ranged players, or save people running away. Even if I die and lose my character forever, I've made lotsa fun memories meeting new people and trying something new. Super looking forward to how your experience goes!! And congrats on living so far, and getting to do SO much of the dungeon content!
As a retired wow player and only jump on for fun and the Classic experience! My wish words would be enjoy your time. BC death isn't fun on hardcore. Softcore is alot funnier. 40 man raids is alot of chaos and fun. Perfect double edged sword experience!
One of the things I liked the most when playing was seeing the stuff from WC3 in game. Like watch towers in the barrens and Ancients in Ashenvale. I didn't even do the social aspect as much because I was immersed in the world
@13:56 hahaha, in 20 years. Most of my guilds and raids are NOT like that. Hardcore for me, the levelling experience. For raiding and end game, i rather get classic or sod. The instant deaths can get you really offguard there.
You should start a second character allready and level him up just a bit like to level 10 so he can farm rested exp while you dont use him. Belive me you dont wanna start ever by level 1
I leveled horde first and only played horde for like 5 years, but the alliance experience is more polished and better over all for pve and they have the Onyxia quest line.
You have been my highlight of fresh hardcore. Watching you learn the game and travel through the world with entrigue and excitement has me hooked. Hopefully I’ll get to do a dungeon with you 1 day. My rogue is currently 26 as I work 60 hours a week but I’ll get there. See you in Azeroth 💪
WoW has a couple of areas that are complete death-traps and they're deliberately designed that way. You're doing this for the first time, make sure you have an experienced player at least backseating you by warning you about these places or you won't reach level 60, ever.
Love your content! Even if you would die, you could always make it in time to raid, if you would level with the RestedXP addon. Best of luck to stay alive!
Funny that you mention that you found similarities or equalities between WC3 and WoW, as that is what I found back in 2004-2005 as well - which is obvious as WoW is (was?) using the same engine as WC3 back then as well and a lot of spells, icons, effects, etc were the same. The are differences/inconsistencies though which funnily enough affected how I played WoW back then as well, one memory sticks out: I remember playing the WoW beta and I tried out the Shaman and when I learned 'Lightning Shield' I thought it worked the same as WC3, that is, that it would damage EVERYONE around me; even friendlies. That was not the case as in WoW, as they simply made it so only enemies take damage, and only when they hit you. I remember mainly using lightning shield when alone, and if I used it together with other people then I would shout to them to stay away as it could damage them lol. I am jealous that you get to experience this as an adult Grubby, but i'm also quite glad i played this is a teenager as it had such a awesome effect on me and significantly affected my path in life to pursue game development as a career.
I for one could never reach max level because levelling is just mortally boring. But then again, I'm too anti-social even for online activities, so ymmv. - Adûnâi
Wouldnt be surprised you playing WoW got a lot of people to resub or try WoW for the first time lol...Already saw a lot of my battle net friends who are hardcore wc3 players switch to WoW this past month.
If you like optimizing dps, thats what retail does best. its pretty light on the social systems, but the combat and encounter difficulty is very engaging. Just dont play it alone, its an mmo after all you need friends, next big patch probably dropping in march!
If you play as Alliance in the future could you please consider going female Night Elf? You randomly doing archer, huntress, warden and potm quotes would be really funny. Also night elves have the most unique starting zone out of any race in the game that is very isolated from the rest of the world, its an incredible experience... just trust me.
be happy the world pvp is missing, It is not that cool and epic as people say it is. It is mostly ganking or holding some areas hostage as guild. And especialy as streamer even the small one, you will get killed a lot and griefed.
I mean yea it is a great game, but most of ya content creators and self proclaimed world champions live in a bubble. sure u can enjoy it since u basically have almost 0 worries in life. but u cant really be critical of it. hard to be passionate about it
My only thing I have to add to this and I said on another video my only concern with you only playing hardcore is that you are genuinely missing half the facet of the end game again I've been playing since release and I'm only level 25 you are just really good but there is no PVP in hardcore so all I ask is that you just don't write off regular servers so maybe you can try the PVP someday
okay that's just factually incorrect do you play classic let's start off by asking that question because if you did the new would know that actually 90% of the time a class is PVE builds and PVP build will be different so explain to me how PVP teaches you your character when if you try to go into PvP with a PVE build it's not as viable also not to mention the gear is completely different also your percentage is just doesn't make sense either let's go ahead and throw that out there 50% of the game is the leveling journey if we're talking classic and then when you get to max level the other 50% opens up in two different directions diverting paths you would say which leads to PVE or PVP now with the anniversary servers and them having dual spec this isn't as much of a problem however it still doesn't mean you can use a PVE build in PvP it just means that now you genuinely can do both without having to worry@josipmarasovic2436
The end game is spamming frostbolt and waiting for your turn to get loot from raids that get cleared in 30 minutes with no deaths. Hardcore takes the good part of the game (leveling to 60) and makes it more exciting and cuts out the bad part of the game (raid logging for more frostbolt number)
Ohhhh You may be having a blast right now but wait until the end game things can get a bit rough Especially if you joined the Guild if you made a Guild Hopefully you're lucky On finding good people And if you're playing out a special server then things might be okay and I don't know I don't play wow anymore
I am no blizzard fan boy and I'd say I'm pretty anti corporation. But to describe your relationship with a company as abusive, unless you worked there, is way more weird than finding joy in video games.
i think the best thing about this WoW journey for you is all the friends youre making along the way its fun to see you in a group setting for a change grub much love

You are the best addition to WoW community so far. Feels relatable and also kind. We are on a journey with you 🎉
Payo, Pilav, Dendi interactions were very hype. I can't wait for you to meet savix.
SAVIXD
Oh hell yeah
ppc
Savix is boss
Has Grubby ever seen the old PvP montages such as by Drakedog or Cobrak?

I'd completely missed that close call with the bug hive. I must have blunked when it was going down.
This WoW hardcore event almost reminds me of WoW on launch with the social aspect. Classic didn't capture that for me when I went back and tried it, and of course its completely gone from retail.

Great to hear all the friends you're making! This is what MMOs used to be all about, instead of maximizing xp/h or loot/h.
Waint until Maraudon and blackrock depths. This 2 dungeons are the most perfect ones.
Also next year there will be Burning Crusade Classic! I play through all of the retail expansions but really struggle to get into anything for longer than a month or so. I really love to watch the collaps, best are with xaryu ofc :D im totally locked in those series
Love it! I hope we can see you in the raids, that would be awesome! A lot of players playing with Tyler1 are dropping like flies...
Ahhh hearing your experience as both a newer player to classic wow and to hardcore has been so much fun!! Ive only been watching your videos, also playing a mage for my first time in classic, and watching you try aoe mage inspired me to try it, and it's SUCH a unique experience.

Blunk, but yes hilarious 😂

Listening to you, made me think about Blizzard games are always a story to be told..!!
Very nice, thanks for the wrapup, liked it a lot.
Ooh good old Pizjub to the rescue!

"Joined onlyfangs guild" Well I found the first problem.
Pandora's box is open, WoW is a BIG game
Wouldnt be surprised you playing WoW got a lot of people to resub or try WoW for the first time lol...Already saw a lot of my battle net friends who are hardcore wc3 players switch to WoW this past month.
Been loving the WoW content!
Are you going to play normal wow after hardcore?
If you like optimizing dps, thats what retail does best. its pretty light on the social systems, but the combat and encounter difficulty is very engaging. Just dont play it alone, its an mmo after all you need friends, next big patch probably dropping in march!
glad you are enjoying this Grub, too bad you are under that bafoon of GM named soda
Madfrog should join WoW too
move ur mage if u die to normal servers
Going to have to make a normal character to make it to tbc, wotlk.
Lots of love! Really wonderful talk!
Grubby 2025
This is so wholesome!
He got too good too fast, this mage won't live to get 60
wow and I'm not done yet 😂
Dota comback would be cool
I'm loving these videos

I think undead and Tauren have the best starting zones
why specifically female 🤨
Grubby don’t play retail it’s to far gone from wc3 and wow vanilla mechanics not even same game don’t want you disappointed
be happy the world pvp is missing, It is not that cool and epic as people say it is. It is mostly ganking or holding some areas hostage as guild. And especialy as streamer even the small one, you will get killed a lot and griefed.
the... onlyfans... guild ? xD oh Grubby, what have you gotten yourself involved with ? xD
OnlyFangs, it's a streamer guuld.
the want onlyfangs wc3 championship cup !!!!

he is atm playing 50% of game. Pvp makes u so much better in game even more then pve in classic. U learn your class and game only when u pvp
okay that's just factually incorrect do you play classic let's start off by asking that question because if you did the new would know that actually 90% of the time a class is PVE builds and PVP build will be different so explain to me how PVP teaches you your character when if you try to go into PvP with a PVE build it's not as viable also not to mention the gear is completely different also your percentage is just doesn't make sense either let's go ahead and throw that out there 50% of the game is the leveling journey if we're talking classic and then when you get to max level the other 50% opens up in two different directions diverting paths you would say which leads to PVE or PVP now with the anniversary servers and them having dual spec this isn't as much of a problem however it still doesn't mean you can use a PVE build in PvP it just means that now you genuinely can do both without having to worry@josipmarasovic2436
he will havea blast spaming forstbolt......
If he dies he can just transfer the character and go raid

Yeah you sound completely clueless about both WoW and especially OnlyFangs, but thanks a lot for your input 👍
let's appreciate Hardcore for what it is, but its not classic wow
❤🙏😇
1st!
i wish i could just play the game and enjoy it after being abused by blizzard for so long. your positivity is weird.
Your inability to enjoy a game due to elements entirely unrelated to the actions in the game is weird
The fact you got ptsd off of a game is hilarious. Grow up lol
I am no blizzard fan boy and I'd say I'm pretty anti corporation. But to describe your relationship with a company as abusive, unless you worked there, is way more weird than finding joy in video games.
no u
yea gotta echo others here, just enjoy your life bro don’t take so much weight and importance from unimportant things
