Hey, It came out delicious.. I have used Gits brand gulab jamun mix and used palm jaggery instead of white sugar with the same proportion as you mentioned.

What can be used instead of butter paper?
grease plate with ghee but for easy de-molding use butter sheet

Doesn't came out like this..becomes so sticky nd tasted like sweet refined flour ( maida) thick batter
You might have missed sugar consistency

If sugar consistency is perfect, then cook till the mixture thickens or start leaving the pan
Yes same for me also..maidaa taste and sticky.
