Aw. Seeing him in a wheelchair. I watch the documentary last night and I found him just to be there I say a sweet caring giving guy. He can try to make him out to be all sorts of horrible things but the reality was he was just helping people live. Not a mean bone in his body. Watch the documentary very moved by him and his story. Miss him!
I loved him telling his adventures A very nice guy, that lived and loved life and was a people pleaser. I would have loved to meet him and we could sip and chat... RIP SCOTTY BOWERS...❤
I enjoyed the documentary on Scott. I wondered why he decided to reveal the real Hollywood beyond the glitter and glitz. This is definitely an era of revealing and telling. I have no problems with that.
When I was really young, I didn’t know much. I was catering and it was a party in West Hollywood and I noticed all the people coming in. We’re all dressed in different uniforms, submarines some army, some navy, and it was all men and I was thinking wow this is strange there’s no womenand the head bartender with Scotty… And he was like business as usual which I thought OK it’s the job it’s just men from the army Navy, and whatever having a party… Little did I know it was a kinky all dress part gay party… I shall never forget it, but it was very innocent at least I was😊
Some people are handed a lemon for a life, and they proceed to make lemonade out of it. This sure seems to be true of Scotty Bowers. I have known only a few people in my lifetime who could do this. They are born with a spirit in them that nothing can refute. Other people with similar upbringings turn into murderers. Not Scotty. He just wanted to make people happy.
@@FrontRowFlynn Late in the game, but thanks for this. Very interesting life story. He was without doubt highly intelligent person with amazing social skills. Hi Joe, thanks for the feedback. I've been a live multicam television director/producer/technical director for 30 years. If you look at the newer videos, you'll see I'm actually producing them, correcting audio & video levels, etc.. At some point, I'll go back and start running the older videos through the same process and replacing them. Thanks again for watching, enjoy!
I remember Scotty having told how he slept with the late Monroe, in an early video. A hotel, bath and stayed all weekend. Sad thing is even that story changed. Hee prob did live wild escapades but where truth and fogged memory meet are hard to tell.

I was curious about that too. I literally Googled if Matt Tyrnauer is gay because he made one of my favorite fashion movies _Valentino: The last Emperor_ where he specifically wanted to focus on the gay love story between Valentino and Giancarlo Giammetti and now he made this movie about the gayness back in old Hollywood I'm noticing that he makes a lot of gay projects so I wonder if Matt Tyrnauer is a gay man ? Or is he just a straight man who is interested in LGBT subjects and just supporting the LGBT community ???
@@FrontRowFlynn Saw the doc twice in Santa Barbara and loved it! My friend bought me the DVD and the book for my birthday last month too. I'd LOVE to meet Scotty.
Fantastic man ! but I wonder about the media Hollywood fixation - why in all the interviews with Scotty did not a single journalist ask him about sexuality during his War service during WW2 ? His story is really about social history, afterall.
Saw the movie. Very believable. Minor quibble. As to hustling in Chicago as a kid, Scotty said (from memory), that he never told his brother and sister. I believe him. He also said something to the effect that he acted by himself. I am skeptical that the priests etc., wouldn't have tried to get him to recruit other boys. I would have liked to hear him give an answer to that (Did they ask; what did he say/do.) He did say that he got a girl - an acquaintance/classmate? - for the one lesbian teacher. So, to my mind he did do something similar. It is strange to think he gets a pass on that. There was no coercion presumably. He felt he wasn't abused because he did what he wanted. Different.
I watched the documentary, which was inspired by the book. I was truly disappointed on this documentary. I was expecting the director would have dived deep in Scotty's most incredible stories involving the Hollywood stars, with some new, untold stories too (Scotty certainly had many) but instead of this it was a boring film, mainly telling Scotty's dramas of the time the documentary was shot. It indeed started all fairly well, with photos of the infamous gas station, etc, but soon it focused on family problems, Scotty's health condition and his problem as object accumulator.
After watching the documentary I felt that instead of making money off of the situation, it would have been appropriate to either provide some assistance or involve Adult protective to improve their living situation. His wife was clearly feeling helpless living in the chaos of a hoarder. The fact that he made it seem like he was being responsible by going to do a trick within an hour after his daughter passed away. And leaving one of his celebrity trick's ashes in the truck of a car for 7 years after the man left him a huge amount of money and houses in his will. And when he finally spread the guy's ashes he poured them through a hole in the roof, he didn't seem to care about his client's as much as making $ off of them

Old age is rapidly claiming him, but he still has his sense of humor. That's key to enjoying the years.
They should really make a movie of this man's life Scotty looks great for his age TY

Hollywood probably ruin it with a vile script.

I wonder if any of the children he helped create. Have found him threw dna?
