in my house the sheite words diversity & inclusion are not allowed. its a fucking industry and the bbc are part of it and therefore banished.licence cancelled. they have been infiltrated by a bunch of bent wokes and therefore now irrelevant to the majority of decent thinking british people.
Let’s be real the tv licence made sense in the 40s,50s,60s,70s,80s and 90s cause there was no social media or streaming but in 2024 where we have all of that the tv licence is bloody archaic bbc when they issued the licence in 1946 the bbc were essentially the only broadcaster in Britain. But they’re not anymore cause there’s also sky and itv and channel 4 and e4 and other broadcast companies. They’re not the only ones anymore

Here in the USA we have something similar to your BBC It's called, NPR/PBS/CPB the only difference is we don't have too pay a ''license fee'' instead they bug you for donations on their annual ''telethons'' the BBC should be dismantled.
It depends on when you believed in them, it once did deliver a public service. And it still does, provided you don't watch news or current affairs, and then you do have to choose carefully.
I haven't watched BBC for over 4 years, but I still pay the fee because I'm unsure of my rights? I'm scared to cancel, because of the bullying letters that I have read others receive. I do have Internet, does that affect me?

The Huw Edwards payment got me furious when I saw he was still paid when suspended. And he did get up to stuff with someone despite what the police said, they simply let him get away with it as they could not prove anything and he hid behind the mental health /illness escape clause, before retiring or whatever he decided to do. He should not have been paid while suspended. If he had done nothing wrong, he would have gone back to work and still be on our screens at the BBC. He was allowed to slither away quietly....

For decades footballers have justified their high salaries on the grounds that their career is very short. Gary Lineker and others have proved that this is not the case so should players not be paid less since they can clearly go on long after their hair turns grey?

The majority of these cases do not have a judge present. An electronic form is sent to a group judicial inbox, where a Magistrate just presses guilty, unless, on the very rare occasion someone actually challenges it.

Your source for your 2m claim is? Even if it's true, it's just 8% of licence fee payers. Even more ludicrous is Heaver's claim that Britain as a whole is cancelling the BBC, when the 500000 he quotes is only 2% of licence fee payers. But, as ever, never let facts get in the way of a good trope, eh?
@@heathermcdougall8023 Have looked at the TV Licencing site, and can't find any figure of the 2m cancellations claimed On their website, it says "TV licencing data is reported on a monthly basis and relates to licences in force where the licence has been cancelled by TV licencing as a result of payment failure and by customers themselves. Consequently, these figures cannot be taken to mean the number of licences cancelled by customers" This means that the claims from Heaver and the papers about customer cancellations are invalid. Have also looked at the ONS site, and can't find any such figure. Can you help?
Cancelled mine during Brexit after watching a BBC reporter interviewing a Cornish fisherman. Thankfully a bystander filmed the whole interview on their mobile phone and showed how biased the reporter was and how they cut and shut the interview to give a totally false representation in support of their rhetoric. It’s probably saved me over a thousand pounds since too, so good riddance BBC.🖕
Their news cover of the Israel-Palestine war, BLM promotion, Islamic migrants, illegal immigration and the pro English marches make it clear what the BBC stands for...and it is not England or our allies.

The worst I heard was when the Pakistan cricket team refused to take the field after a dispute with an umpiring decision. The Pakistani team manager spoke on Test Match Special and apologised unreservedly stating the team were totally out of order. Over the next couple of hours, the BBC shamelessly doctored what he said until it sounded like he was justifying the team's actions - absolutely disgusting.
George Orwell/Eric Blair worked there during the second world war and found it a bit distasteful, although he considered it by far the lesser of two evils considering the enemy at the time.

The whole western world is currently facing the totalitarian consequences of funding a massive govt. It's perverse incentives. When you make people want to have a govt job, they want to keep it, and they want a bigger budget, and they want to hire more and have more power to protect their jobs, and then they're in charge and the people have no voice. All bureaucracies must be small and powerless.
If it was representative of the British people there would be no need to complain. However, it is no longer representative of the average English person or of English democracy. In addition, the programmes on offer are either of low quality or are repeats.
Speaking of bias; as a public service, wouldn't it be better if the BBC has to pay *a fine* every time they're not being objective enough? That way they would have to change dramatically immediately or simply go bankrupt within a month or so.
I used to like Doctor Who, but seeing recent episodes [at a friend's who still has a licence], I feel that the writers are starting with a gay plot, then adding an actual sci-fi story around it! My dad moved into a Full Time Care Home, I proved that this was the case, however the BBC wouldn’t refund his money & kept making excuses whey they shouldn’t.

Not sure that Americans know that the Brits pay $220 a year to own a TV. A year! The government assumes that if you have a TV you must be watching BBC.
It's not "to own a TV". It's to watch a live television broadcast. Which could, of course, be done on a computer or iPad, etc. I don't think there's any "government assumption" involved. The fee is administered and enforced by a company called Capita.
I cancelled mine after my mum died. I don't even have TV anymore. I either watch TH-cam, play games or read. I just dont get enjoyment out of anything the BBC has to offer
Same here. Stopped paying 20 years ago after a decade of paying for a black and white TV licence. After a couple of visits they soon stopped calling although the postal payment demands kept arriving. Not only did I save by not paying for the licence but I also got free toilet paper.
We have reached a point that ruling by referendum is the only way forward as there are so many disasters we were never asked about. Our politicians think we are thick and they think they own the country to do with as they please.

We abolished the license fee in Finland around fifteen years ago. In its stead, we now have a media tax, meaning that everyone has to pay, like it or not. My point being, be careful what you wish for.

I cancelled my licence this week. It took 4 attempts on line, which wouldn't take input from a Samsung tablet, 3 emails and then asked me to phone. The young woman was excellent, apologetic and got the job done. I await their letter. I'm 77, so not all elderly are suckered. She said someone may check. I shall not let them in.
They start sending letters automatically after 2 years, but don't worry - you can ignore the letters. You'll notice that they are addressed to "The Occupier", not to you directly.
Once upon a time the BBC made relevant, well- made and thoughtful programmes aimed at a wide range of viewers... now we have biaised, poor quality, woke crap aimed at a narrow brainless viewing group. It is not worth the licence fee any more. I for one have lost interest now in the BBC's pro Hamas, pro Trans and LGBTQ stance and its poor quality of 'so-called' journalism. It has more in common with Al Jazeera than Britain.

YT has political biases just as pronounced; plus it provides only a fraction of the services that the BBC does. I've not seen the TH-cam logo broadcasting from the Proms, Glastonbury or other festivals, for example. While the licence fee is contentious and the Beeb's Establishment political bias is clear, there's a vast array of useful and worthwhile programmes and services that it would be stupid to destroy.

But how quick they were just last week to show ManchesterAirport Police in the worst possible way by only showing an edited version of the video. The bbc should be deletable on the tv menu. Once deleted, no license fee. Only enabled when subscription is paid!! Not watched bbc for six years , should have cancelled my licence way before then.

On their website, it says "TV licencing data is reported on a monthly basis and relates to licences in force where the licence has been cancelled by TV licencing as a result of payment failure and by customers themselves. Consequently, these figures cannot be taken to mean the number of licences cancelled by customers" This means that the claims from Heaver and the papers about customer cancellations are invalid.
Have also looked at the ONS site, and can't find any such figure.

Thankfully a bystander filmed the whole interview on their mobile phone and showed how biased the reporter was and how they cut and shut the interview to give a totally false representation in support of their rhetoric. It’s probably saved me over a thousand pounds since too, so good riddance BBC.🖕

The worst I heard was when the Pakistan cricket team refused to take the field after a dispute with an umpiring decision. The Pakistani team manager spoke on Test Match Special and apologised unreservedly stating the team were totally out of order. Over the next couple of hours, the BBC shamelessly doctored what he said until it sounded like he was justifying the team's actions - absolutely disgusting.

It's not "to own a TV". It's to watch a live television broadcast. Which could, of course, be done on a computer or iPad, etc. I don't think there's any "government assumption" involved. The fee is administered and enforced by a company called Capita.

Same here. Stopped paying 20 years ago after a decade of paying for a black and white TV licence. After a couple of visits they soon stopped calling although the postal payment demands kept arriving. Not only did I save by not paying for the licence but I also got free toilet paper.

I cancelled my licence this week. It took 4 attempts on line, which wouldn't take input from a Samsung tablet, 3 emails and then asked me to phone. The young woman was excellent, apologetic and got the job done. I await their letter. I'm 77, so not all elderly are suckered. She said someone may check. I shall not let them in.
They start sending letters automatically after 2 years, but don't worry - you can ignore the letters. You'll notice that they are addressed to "The Occupier", not to you directly.

Once upon a time the BBC made relevant, well- made and thoughtful programmes aimed at a wide range of viewers... now we have biaised, poor quality, woke crap aimed at a narrow brainless viewing group. TheBBC has protected Huw Edwards for many months continuing to pay his enormous salary. But how quick they were just last week to show ManchesterAirport Police in the worst possible way by only showing an edited version of the video. Judging a policeman who was doing his duty and preventing an extremely violent thug from hurting more people.I also saw BBC presenters stirring for all they were worth. SHAME ON YOU BBC.SHAME ONYOU!!!

The bbc should be deletable on the tv menu. Once deleted, no license fee. Only enabled when subscription is paid!! Not watched bbc for six years , should have cancelled my licence way before then.
Doesnt matter if you have BBC apps or a house FULL of TV's its what you use it for that decides if you need a licence....

When my husband turned 75 he was given a free TV license. Three months later the BBC took the free licence of him!

@@ladygaynor16 They changed the rules. Now pensioners have to be in receipt of "Pension Credit" as well as being over 75 to qualify.

Cancelled ours about 10 years ago. Scrap the fee and those that want BBC should pay by subscription.
i don't get why they dont just get subsadised by allowing adds like itv and the rest
