Today you have been gone for 27 years. We miss you and your beautiful music. Thank you for making people's lives a little brighter with your blazing guitar playing and beautiful voice. See you soon wherever you may be.
Stevie came in and sat down and had something to eat with another man. As they got up to leave they walked buy us again and he got about 10ft away and turned around and waited a minute to see I guess if we want to say hi. No phones back then. I felt like I didn’t want to bother him and I wish I won’t have done that. He had to know we where kind of looking at him the whole time. Cents then I’ve never passed up an opportunity to say hi or get a picture if I can with some of my guitar hero’s. Just to say hey thanks for the music.
First time I saw him, was in 1985, right before Reese joined the band, and I was so close, I could literally grab his boots, while he jammed out. I wasn't that familiar with him, quite honestly but I loved Jimi, and my friend thought I was nuts, not to know who Stevie was. (He was right!). After opening with 3rd Stone From The Sun, he just blew me away for 2 hours, at Montclair State College, which was like a small gym, holding maybe 2-300 people... RIP, my man! Btw, I had no ticket for the show, and some girl saw my finger raised, looking for a ticket, at the last moment. She asked me how many I needed, and I replied that I only needed one for myself. She had like 50 tickets in her hand, and just handed me one and walked away. I tried to pay her, and she refused, and told me to enjoy the show..... Thank God for moments like that! I saw him 7-8 more times and he was truly a great, who I will always miss....
Thank you so much for sharing your personal photos. I know you realize how much it means to everyone, even years later. I still cry for this wonderful man I never met but knew. Miss him. Listen to his music daily. Always did, always will. Again, thanks. 💜🎵💜
Oh my gosh. This is so beautiful. Stevie was so happy and healthy once he sobered up. Nobody will ever touch this man's talent. Damn it is so unfair that he was taken so abruptly. What an angel. Thank you for this beautiful video!!
Got to love these live performances of "The Sky is Crying" from 1987 (this one is from Champaign, IL 1987 I believe)...I wish he played this song live more during this era.
Never seen many of these before, famous and not so famous friends,or many fans?,saw Mitch Mitchell,Charlie Sexton by the looks etc...One have been wanting to see for years ,or more and looked on and off on the net,and this week too,is SRV with Doyle bramhall ll.Most would know the connection through Doyle's father and SRV,familes knowing each other, living close at times together etc..Doyle ll must have seen SRV live many times over the years, read of playing on stage with 1 time, maybe more?,in later ,80's when he was teenager, would think more than a few pictures online at a concert, backstage etc..or when with bramhall's at home, them if many,in private collection, not for show, copy, sale etc ..?.
Some faces looked familiar, but...nah! Just ordinairy unknown people who got the chance to meet him... WAIT! I know him! It's Dan! Dan the man! The late Dan Toler, lost after fighting Lou Gehrig's disease... That smile he always had... Look at their funny faces, the eyes! They're just having a good 'high'' time! Only The Good Die Young...so sad, but it's a fact... (we also have to endure some who never end up dead!) R.I.P.
Nice compilation but it would have been even better if you labeled as many folks as you knew perhaps with estimated dates so we'd have some idea who these people were and when.... even if they were just fans, and many seem to be more than that, it would be far more meaningful...
Love and miss you forever. SRV 💙
Awesome musician. Humble as could be. Play on Brother.
Wow, haven’t seen 90% of these photos. Honestly shed tears when I see these knowing what a man he was. Fly high Stevie.
So many good times. Sux that everything comes to and end sooner or later. Gone too soon. Legend.
