Dear person...I, or the whole world, could pray what you said all day and night, and NOT one of our prayers will cause your wish to come to fruition. Here is why?
When YOU sincerely pray to Jesus; confessing that you ARE a sinner (as we ALL are); and pray that He fills you; with the Holy Spirit; Jesus WILL answer your prayer a trillions times; more than what we all could ever do praying for you. Because...none of us can "confess YOUR sins". That must come from YOU. Think about it.
Oh indeed yes! Try it Brother Christian.

And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.
      Acts 5:32

Yes, there is ONLY one sin that Jesus will never forgive...
Mark 3:28-29 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men (all persons), even blasphemies howsoever they shall blaspheme: EXCEPT he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Spirit has never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation (hell).
Thus, the ONLY sin that sends ANY one to hell; IS to "blaspheme" against the Holy Spirit. For ALL other sins; SHALL be forgiven by Jesus; on "Judgment Day". Praise His Holy Name.
Yes, and believe it or not, "repenting" does NOT mean "stop sinning"; rather it means: "confessing and being sincerely sorry" (in our hearts); that we sin (from birth to death). Because...
Genesis 6:6 And it repented Jesus (who IS the only God) that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
Exodus 32:14 And Jesus repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.
Finally: Acts: 5:32 means we are blessed from Jesus; whenever we obey him. It has NOTHING to do with repenting (as so many believe). Believe it or not.
In any case kind Sir, Please Pray OFTEN and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN!

*_At the beginning and end of every teaching, i delight in hearing God's taught word topped with the soft, humbling and delightful musical note that LOOK IN THE BOOK offers._*
It is the school bell that lets children know to get themselves ready for elementary schooling. It is that sound teenagers hear when all attention is now to be given as the Principal or leading teacher enters the Commons floor or the stage or the classroom.
The DESIRING GOD's Look In The Book chime is as powerful and if not, even more than the button push of Law and Order - I think it is the judge's gavel striking the gavel plate to begin and end all court sessions.
So too is the chime of your program. It is bringing my heart to JUMP! at the voice of a man and servant and son of God who is filled with the Holy Spirit and power and obedience, and the Beatitudes and commending in his call of the Great Commission to preach the word of God...
*_what a sweet sound it is. The Word f God to learn._*

The Bible is very rich with meaning. No chapter or paragraph should ever be read without taking out time to be sure of the context and the meaning of each verse. This video shows how important it is to read carefully with understanding. Such is why I do not see any benefit at all in trying to read the Bible in a year. Learning and understanding cannot come from racing through chapters and verses to meet some deadline.

I have thought the same thing and that is the way I have been reading the Bible... however there is another aspect to reading the Bible "fast" (e.g. within a year) -- which I recently ran across -- and that is from the perspective that we are going to read the Bible *many* times in our lifetime (Lord willing)... not just once. So we don't have to get everything out of it the first time through (although the more we can get out of it the better)... but the fact that (Lord willing) we will read through the Bible many times in our life gives the "freedom" to read it "faster" ... i.e. covering more ground... which *over time* will build up "layer upon layer" and we will come more and more to see how the whole Bible fits together, etc. because we will be more familiar with the whole Bible, because we have read it through *many* times.... Just a thought for you, sir.

@@scatoutdebutter You do make a good point. But I began studying The Bible when I was a teen, many moons ago, when KJV and other Old English Bible translations were the standard. Those were written in such a way where one can sense and detect what is being taught from any number of different books from The Bible because key words and phrases on the same subject between the books are preserved and repeated. And in a church setting, (and when listening to radio and tv preachers), one could immediately recognize that what is being spoken is something they have read. The problem today is that there are so many Bible versions being used, that if a preacher using the latest translation quoted things you've read in your own Bible a dozen times, ones mind will not jump to that verse, finding no familiarity of terms or language being used if the preacher's newer Bible version does not sound like your own Bible, it doesn't ring any bells, making reading in a year rather useless, especially considering that many newer Bible versions have not taken the same care that the older translations have, to make sure that similar subjects being covered in the Bible use similar language for familiarity's sake. They did this so that the fuller meaning of any subject can resonate with you when comparing similar verses between the Bible's books. If we all would read the same Bible version, and the same version was used universally to teach from, as was virtuallty the case 50 to 100 years ago, (when 'reading in a year' first became a thing) then 'reading in a year' today, in order to familiarize ourselves with The Bible as a whole, as a start, would indeed be much more productive, I think. Faith comes by hearing. But if we are not all hearing the same words and phrases, then what? Thank you, Sir, for your input.

@@josephvacanti Great point about the confusion of the different translations. I've read through the ESV and then NASB in last few years (about 2.5 years for each). Then this last previous time was through the KJV (about 2.5 years) and this current time through I'm using the KJV -- mainly for familiarity sake i.e. what I grew up with and what only I have memorized in... also I like to read the older writers (e.g. "puritans") and they all quote in KJV.... so even though hardly anybody else uses the KJV (Doug Wilson being an exception)... I am drawn continually to the KJV for familiarity's sake. --- *even* though the newer translations may be "easier to understand".

@@scatoutdebutter Wow! That's dedication, that you having read the ESV and then NASB in last few years. I have used audio Bibles a lot, mostly KJV. So KJV is most familiar to me as well. But I really like the parallel Bibles, especially now online, where you can easily have a dozen or even two dozen Bible versions at your fingertips. It always goes back and forth as to which has worded a verse the best, but it is often the same few versions that render the best translation. I always like to compare. But, I'm not crazy about "The Message". We might think that it is really helping those who are beginners. But its everyday language, to me, simply sounds irreverent and it doesn't help a beginner relate with believers who are used to the more common Bible versions. We are to be "of one mind". That's so hard to do if we are not all remembering key phrases the same way. But it's a wonderful thing to be very familiar with the scriptures. It's like a constant help and instant encouragement to live right when this verse or that comes to mind to solve an issue.

One thing the Bible did for me once I started reading it. Is it exposed the Catholic faith which I was raised in. Not anymore though my relationship with the Lord is within!

"How Does Gratitude Serve the Will of God?"
    Hmmm...kind Sir...
Matthew 22:36-39 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
    And...
Matthew 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
    Now...
John 6:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
    And...
John 6:40 And this is the will of God that sent me, that every one which seeth me, and believeth in me, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up ("rapture") at the last day (Of the first half [3 and 1/2 yrs] of the Great Tribulation; all total 7 yrs).
I believe the above; will "serve the will of God" (who IS Jesus); in a way that no other way comes close. But then who am I?
...In any case kind Sir, Please Pray OFTEN and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN!
