      @@nickrea2869 yes, NIck, we changed the things a bit. Now it is 9.99 a month but if you finish all 5 courses within 30 days, you get your money back and it is free! It was made so, because for the last 5 years of free courses, 8 000 people signed up and 60 actually finished a course! I don't need that any more!

    I went to a local restaurant where it took like almost 30 minutes for them to give us the check and to process the payment. We had to ask like 3 times that we're ready to pay and the place wasn't even that busy. We still left a tip, but it was definitely a very small tip.
    I'm just going to assume that the waiter or owner was offended by us somehow. I'm not sure what it could've been since we were pretty polite to the staff. Well I guess it should've been a red flag when I saw the owner sit down two tables across from us to eat dinner.

    • @TheWaitersAcademy
      @TheWaitersAcademy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have been generous to leave a small tip and it is good you have done so! Things like that happen often and that is why restaurants pop up and go broke so often! Just forget about it and try another place the next time :)

    Not all restaurants allow you to introduce yourself as their server. So there is no need to let the guest know you are leaving. You simply let the new server know whats going on with the tables. And transfer it. They then can just take over service. Again. It depends on restaurant policies. 🤷‍♂️ never welcome the guest to the restaurant by thebplace name or your name. Simply greet them, ask how they are doing this "morning, afternoon,evening" and proceed with features. Gather drink order, and starters. After received. Proceed with the 2bite/2 minute quality check. And feature FOD or steaks or whayever is off menu. Ask if they are ready to order. And move on. Dont repeat orders, follow pivot system to not auction food. And mark tables with silverware, steak knife, dessert spoons/forks etc. Always manicuring and de-crumbing tables before the next course. Etc. If no dessert is ordered, drop check. Be check ready before offering dessert, if declined dessert, drop check.

      Dude, some of your input is right on point and some is totally wrong when we are talking about high hospitality! There are standards and waiters should follow them. But as you said, not all restaurants are fine dining, fine start establishments so those rules don't apply for everyone.

    hello just wanted to ask do you think its possible for a 19 Year old to start off as a bus boy and then get promoted to a Waiter at a not high end but nice resturant in less than a year i like to think i am a very humble confident young man who treats everyone the same and will provide exceptional service with my personality and attention to detail.

    • @TheWaitersAcademy
      @TheWaitersAcademy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ramirez,
      Great question.
      Get the job, do the best work you could possibly do. At the same time, take a menu, wine list and the service procedures home and start learning them.
      In 6 months you should be ready to start working as a waiter. Don't wait a year. 6 months.
      Best of luck.
      P.S.
      Meanwhile you can finish the waiter training course and get the certificate from the Waiters Academy. That will help you a lot.

    Punishment is not the right way

    • @TheWaitersAcademy
      @TheWaitersAcademy  ปีที่แล้ว

      So if you come constantly late for work, I should not punish you?
      If you don't do your sidework, I will let you slide?
      If you bully other employee in the restaurant, I have to close my eyes?
      No, my friend, this is real life and the good manager have to know when to award e waiter and when to punish a waiter.
      Now depend what do you think, when I talk about punishmen, Here is an example:
      1. You come always late? - The next schedule you will find yourself working breakfast every day. Take it or leave it!
      2. You repeatedly don't do your sidework? - I will give you 2 weeks of captain sidework
      Basically, if you are person who disrespect the job, the team, and me by not being professional, I will either change your ways or make you quit! We don't need people like that around!

    Its actually double edge sword. Ofourse here is no benefits of no training but if you smart you can find them. If you go throw all the shit alone and learn everything you build next level mentality and character. Our job is hard but its not rocket science.

    • @TheWaitersAcademy
      @TheWaitersAcademy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is the right way of thinking, Simonas, but while you are learning and you are on the floor without training you are making unnecessary mistakes and the service is bad and the people around you get angry and nervous! A simple training with the quality control after that will eliminate almost all of those problem! Makes everyone's life easier!

    • @winelover3639
      @winelover3639 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea, but reality is in most restaurants in europe 1 day of training and you are alone. Just advice for new guys dont take anything personal especially from co workers. It was like hell some of them dont even say hi to me and only try put me lower and lower. Now we are friends with everyone even with kitchen LOL and have had craziest parties together.

    • @TheWaitersAcademy

      That is exactly how it works! Sometime the people that give the most shit turn out to be your best friends lately! Good advice, Simonas!

    Why are you charging for this information? You're defeating the purpose of your goal, which is to show people how things should be done? It's most like a set up, because you want people to have the knowledge or see how things are done so that they don't make mistakes, but then youre charging for subscriptions......
    People won't do it .

      Hi Pattie, I don't know what do you mean but let's see if this make sense:
      - I run the Academy for 6 years and everything, including the courses and certificates was free of charge. 8000 people signed up and 15 actually finish a course and got a certificate.
      - 8 months ago I made the courses paid with an option of full refund if you finish all 5 courses withing 30 days. We have so many people signing up and actually finishing a course or all the courses that it shows me the plan is working.
      - All this on the side, if you don't want to pay a dime but still learn everything I teach, you have all the lesson free of charge on the blog post of The Waiter's Academy. Everyone who needs and wants the knowledge can go and get it. The diference? No certificate because there are no tests and final exams.
      - On top of that, I give every month free scholarship to 5 people who want to sign up for the courses but cannot afford it. They just need to apply for it.
      You tell me what is wrong with that?
