I'm a member of GPAA. I've always watched your videos because of metal detecting. With that being said, I think this would be great "alternative" to your usual video's...Because. I remember you being sick? I PRAY you're feeling better!... 🙏🙌🙏
Judging from the abundance of boulders, whole trees and scour of the bank it looks like there'd been some serious flash flooding and rapid flow near the time of the video. Wow, that was a lot of gold for the first pan! The "rocks in bands" make those low spots in the stream bed so the heavy gold and garnets fall out into the lows while the water flows past like a natural sluice box
@@MarciaShackelford-st5bt,I know! Either these people commenting don't really watch all his videos or don't realize this time of year in Vermont is freezing. He wouldn't be in that Spring with short sleeves or any amount of clothing. Plus it's Winter an one can clearly see all the lush green 😅SMH
Fun fact for detecting gold in the hills in Vermont, the mines were not scams the ore deposits are pinch and swell systems they caught surface stringers along the banks of Buffalo and trenched the veins out they kept dieing off , they ran the mines down trying to cut into the several swell systems but cost of mining waste rock verses paying ounces per ton when the system was hit did not cover cost of operating as our water table is high and mines require alot of materials and upkeep to stay going. With that being said with new age mining tools ie metal detectors there are endless possibilities walking outcrops and shallow bedrock along those Ridgelines. I know an old timer that has been pulling quartz specimen gold with his beeper since the 80s. He won't give the exact location for good reason but has told me many times that I need to spend more hours up the hill from where I go and it's only on the other side from where you were. Its like finding an underground quartz tree 🌳 best of luck.
super cool adventure. Nice to see you out and about somewhere interesting and cool. I love those giant garnets too. Decent gold as well very awesome. Cheers.
What a gorgeous spot! I have the tools, I just have to find a good site. You can find gold in indiana, but I'd much rather try near documented spots. Looks like a fun day.
This is so cool! I'm brand new to this hobby and was recommended your channel by FlThunder Diggin' w/Rob. I've just subscribed and look forward to watching more of your videos. This was excellent!
I went on a field trip with the Keene,NH Mineral Club in 1972 to where we saw the operations of an old prospector in Ludlow, VT, who sluiced and panned gold to survive the "great depression". He used mercury and a potato to sluice and retrieve sufficient gold to do so. It was common then to pump the bedrock bottom of small basins in the stream to siphon up the larger flakes that would sink to the bottom and catch in the uptilted edges of the bedrock. Slate/schist would often be parted by plant roots enough to catch tiny traveling flakes in a storm. There was a ledge along one side of the embankment maybe 8 Ft. high that some native gold in quartz was said to have been mined. I was skeptical and continued my panning.
Scott is a good dude, we had the pleasure of meeting him at BONE 31. That looked like a great day treasure hunting! Thanks for sharing. Merry Christmas to you and both your families Brad and Scott.🙂🌲🎅✌️
Pan up the stream, until you stop finding gold, then retreat until you find gold again. Pan down to bedrock in that area. Pan the banks of the stream until you find which side the gold washed down. The mother load will be in that direction.
This place reminds me of Huntington Gorge, where I used to swim with my family. You ever been there? Lots of swimmers and several swimming deaths over the years. Might be some treasures there!. I haven’t lived in VT for 50 years, and enjoy watching you treasure around my home state! Happy Holidays, Brad!
This is awesome. A lot of the old miners gave up around ww2 when the price of gold was very low or labor shortages, not because they ran out of gold. With gold prices really high right now it’s possible to make respectable money with a “secret “ spot and some basic tools in your free time.
Fun video. I live in Oregon and many years ago when I was younger. y husband and I owned a gold claim had fun times there. Never found a lot as we were not able to go often but there is lots out there.
Very cool, Brad. Definitely have to have a lot of patience panning for Gold. Where I live, there's a story of a man hiding his Gold in the Mountains. There's a lot of abandoned mines here where I live. There's another story of a man burying his money on a distant relatives' home cite. The story is in a Nevadas lost treasure book. Where you were looking for Gold the country there is very Beautiful. Congrats on finding the Gold flakes, 2020 Penny, and Mining Tool. Take Care Crazie Digging
My dad and his buddy fabricated this device to suck stuff out of those cracks of said sluice box. Kinda resembles it a giant syringe in a way. It's known as the suck-a-matic.
Glad that you were able to salvage your camera! Even though you were finding a fair amount of gold there it sure is backbreaking tedious work! Beautiful creek! Merry Christmas!
Fantastic vid mate in a stunning area we prospect here in Tasmania it’s very similar terrain and a ton of fun find old mines and a bit of shiny stuff goodonya mate merry Christmas cheers
A very interesting video, lots of tiny gold. You were looking well in that one. I hope you are still on the mend. Merry Christmas you, your wife and son.
Brad, you need to stop hanging around with my cousin Scott, because if you do that, you won't get sick....lol! I watch you both on TH-cam and I am hoping for a metal detector for Christmas. There's probably not a lot of lost treasures here in the State of Washington, but you never know. Lots of trappers, traders and explorers out here, before it became a state, plus the Oregon trail and other trails through the Cascade Mountain Passes.
Glad you made it through the illness 🕊️🌹🙏... Many years ago, I worked in a gold extraction operation that was located in the wasteland of South west Nevada...I have no idea how much gold they found because the supervisors were really very secretive..I was aware of the steps they employed in gold extraction but, I was not invited to see or help with collecting the end product... That is what surprised me about your openers and public media coverage of your hunt... Gold miners are always very secretive... Farewell and I will pray for your success ...😎
I've been all over Vermont and only found it in a few spots. Vermont doesn't seem to have a lot of it. Spots I have found it are in the Moretown area in that river that goes through Moretown(gorgeous spot I used to live on and the rainbow trout fishing is good as well) and in the mountains around Rutland below the ski resorts. Which is what I'd guess this area is..Killington mountain area? The fly fishing/trout fishing there in that area is amazing as well. But it's been so little. Here in Maine there seems to be a lot more spots to find gold and gems though maybe that's because Maine is like 10 times the size of Vermont idk. It's a poor area of the state but man in the Killington area a sick spot for outdoors stuff for cold and warm weather fun. Here in Maine I've always heard the Swift River holds sizeable nuggets but never took the time to go. I might this year. I also plan on going watermelon tourmaline hunting near where I live at this old mica mine that they find big specimens at(though I never have myself found it there but I've found other gems there)..Mount Mica or something it's called? It's in the Paris ME area if anyone wants to check it out)
I thought it was being mined comercially and closed to collectors? I hunted there 25 yrs ago and found lots of tiny pink and green tourmaline crystals and other minerals. I use to pay to go on collecting tours there but then it changed hands and was closed for many yrs.

GPAA?? Haven’t heard that acronym in 10 years or more. What happened to Tom Massie and Kia
I'm so happy for you that you are feeling well enough to go back out hunting for treasure wherever that may be. Happy hunting, and God bless.
What a great spot to pan. Great to see you back to your old ways!
My Friday morning happy place. Thanks Brad!!!
Good morning Brad! Merry Christmas everybody!!

Welcome to the Gold Family, glad to have ya, many great creators on this topic
I have seen rivers like this before. Thank you for the video.
I had no clue that there was gold in Vermont!! Thanks for taking us along. Take care Brad❤😊
The Hoffmans would find a way to miss it all, ha. Most gold is safe from their family.
😂 your right about the Hoffman's not finding the gold
🤣true statement hehe
That was more gold than the Hoffman's found when they went to Guyana!

It's funny that your best piece of raw gold you found want even in the river.😅 But I was happy to hear that nugget was native Vermont gold.
I love when secret spots are shared 👍

A secret spot is like a built-in sluice box. My dad used to take me gold panning with his best friend as a kid up on gold creek and stowe.
