Excellent video. I learnt a great deal of information......The most important facts were explained how and why... You are going to make me a better fisherman...
Not being around the coast, but going there, I'm still not sure what a shock leader is. Everyone says it is 10x the sinker weight. 3lb needs 30 lb leader, etc. and prevents the regular line from getting snapped because of its extra strength (geez I'm so tired of hearing the same advice, but not getting the detail) Everyone says it helps prevent injuries from breakage. So you make the leader like a regular leader, only make it twice the length of the rod, enough to wrap around the spool 6 times, and attach the shock leader to the regular fishing line. I assume the shock leader attaches directly to the weight, and somehow you attach your hooks by making t-loops on the shock leader, and then attaching hook lines to the loops using small leaders that terminate with a perfection knot. Everybody says the same thing, but nobody goes to the trouble of illustrating how it works, pretty frustrating hearing the same lacking advice over and over again. Even this guy looks like he just threw the weight out without a hook or lure. Even he skipped that missing link step. Can anyone confirm my take on how the hell a shock leader works? Would be appreciated.
Just tried that knot myself, it was surprisingly easy to do , better than the bulky thing I’ve been using, 👍👍
Hello from Texas USA...glad to see you're back mate. Keep up the good work!!
Cheers Andy, awesome knot. lost a lot of gear winching up the cliffs, this will make a big difference.

Thanks lads thats my new leader knot now 😎
Very thorough explanation. I appreciate it!
Hi there quick question what would be your go-to knot to tie braid to braid
good job man!!!!! very nice!
lovely spot there andy
awesome stuff
I've just got some 37lb rovex 10x mono for my main line, should i go for 80lb shockleader because I got the higher lbs main line?
Andy, Can I use a shock leader with my Abu 7000 with it's level wind on it ????
Bruce. Brighton. Sussex .
good question mate. the trouble is that the leader knot will get stuck in the levelwind and your line could snap when you cast.
Yet I still can't get it right 😔 I'll still be trying as you read this lol , good vid as always
