I switched to L-mount last year and don’t regret it. Bought an FP for it’s pocketability, with either the small 24mm or 45mm prime. All together those cost me £1500 used, just incredible value for money
Very underrated cameras (both fp)! The EVF can be used on both fp and fpL btw. I loaned the original fp and was very pleasantly surprised by how good it is, especially with adapted manual lenses!
@@MrWiseinheart Yes, I saw that kit too. Actually it looks pretty nice, but you lose the weather sealing and having the screen cable hanging around like this will scar me...😅 Anyway, I didn't really miss the articulated screen.
I disagree with the AF not being important to film makers. As a single shooter a good af system helps out soooo much. I love having that option when manual focus is not a possibility. I have been manually focusing for over 18 years and I can tell you 1st hand that canon class autofocus is a god send for a single shooter. Cameras like these are made for single shooters who are looking to steal a shot or 2 or 3 or even 4 so a good autofocus system is a very welcome feature or should I dare to say a must especially if the camera is lacking stabilization and a gimbal is required. I would buy 1 today if the af were 80% of what canon delivers.
Great discussion of the fp-L. With the sigma 24 or f2 35mm sigma lenses, it’s awfully close to the Sony RX1 size and feel wise. One huge advantage with video is the ability to crop up to 2.5x and still keep 4K resolution. This makes primes so versatile for video shooting. On the downside, the rolling shutter is awful (although better at certain crop factors like 1.24x). Thanks again for bringing this camera to more peoples attention!
I'm going to defiantly jump on it. I love the modular concept. Having a fixed lens will take away from that, so I hope they don't put a fixed lens on it. I think that would be for the compact segment. Great video!!
@TheDigitalDigest First, Thank you for reviewing this beauty! Great job as always! Regularly, I shoot Sony, but I nabbed the FP L this past summer for travel and some personal work. It’s definitely been a gem and I love it! The form-factor, video & stills are yummy!!
I cannot stress enough how much i love the original fp camera! It is not perfect, surly, but i forgive everything for its 12 bit DNG RAW image quality. Someone call the camera "A Tiny Giagent" - and it's absolutely true!

Yes, it would be really cool if there was a "budget" Leica Q competitor but only if it's 24 or 28 focal length since the 35 on the RX1 isn't wide enough for me.
And what if you an usb-c hub with built-in nvme ssd? so you have the external storage and the ability to charge your camera at the same time, would it work?
Sigmas share on the market on glass lets them experiment and push the boundaries with there cameras. Yes there cameras are niche, but for the people who enjoy them... wow.
Great discussion. Sigma used to be good at stitching prime lenses onto their camera, like the dp series. I’m surprised that they haven’t done that with the fp series - maybe because it’s not a Foveon?
Hello, have you possibly forgotten an important factor that Sigma that is actually a little on the side lens company may have to do to some big sacrifice to the tall gentlemen in the big camera companies that have allowed them to make lenses for them, think about it;) Possibly they have a deal to not make a competitively fully good camera possibly through an agreement with Sony, Nikon, Canon,Fuji.....Possibly it's just economic policy ;)

Have the fp and fp L. Love them both, criminally underrated cameras by all of TH-cam
Does the FP have a crop mode like the FP L? If so what crop factor? Thanks.

There this guy on TH-cam that has a conversion kit to make it articulate.

very educational video, I have question, can we use ss2 m2 with correct cable for sigma fp? thank you
I’m considering this and a set of primes as a landscape camera, mostly on a tripod.

The Sigma 35mm lens with the FP L is a werewolf! BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

really needs a faster read out too
so much potential for this cam
please no fixed lens. unless separate model.

How is the Autofocus on it mate? Contemplating replacing my Lumix s1 or s5 with it.
autofocus is better than the original but still far away from competing cams. Be prepared to shoot with MF.
@@TheDigitalDigest thanks man, you saved me from unnecessary gear lust then. I'll stick to the S1 and S5 then.
Thank you for the great video! I have pulled the trigger on an FP!

.....this is so close to being a tiny professional workhorse
Correction. It shoots in UHD 4K, not DCI 4K.
not sure why you think it doesn't record in DCI 4k...it does
Hi! I record on dci with a Blackmagic VA 7” 12g its pure cream 🤓🤩
@@TheDigitalDigest Internally, it does not.
