Doctor please tell why my bppv vertigo disappeared suddenly after 8-10 days then came after 50-60 days..... I got around 5 march to 15 march 22 and now I m suffering from last 3 days....
First time it happened in December ending, I did this exercise u showed in this video... in first time exercise my eyes were spinning a lot and I got relief after this exercise
But now in march and in may , I have less vertigo but still vertigo happens and didn't go after doing this exercise.....
Please tell what should I do....
Is it viral infection in ear and to see ent specialist or due to some head related problem to see neurologist????

@@smile2life929 You can repeat the maneuver right away, there's no need to wait. If you're sure you did it right and it didn't work, then lie back down and repeat it IN THE OPPOSITE direction. Understand that this is a treatment, not a cure. Many people who self-treat for BPPV (like myself) have to do this once or twice a month. Stimulants like caffeine amplify the vertigo effect so reducing the amount of coffee and sodas will help too. Good luck!

@@irianahernandez3532 I mean the first time I did it I was completely debilitated so I was willing to do anything. I did the maneuver 2-3 times and it definitely was a crystal that was in the canal because it resolved it. But I had been so disoriented it took a good nights sleep and a day to feel back to normal. It happened again several years later and then just last week. I think this last was was a crystal combined with allergies and increased pressure because this was a little different than the first 2 events. In fact when I laid back to begin the maneuver I immediately threw up. I say all that because it did come back again down the road (my assumption is because now I have an assortment of crystal’s that have been broken off that can become dislodged) BUT it did absolutely fix the problem.

Simone Roncali actually if you are diagnosed which bppv this is only treatment. It has 80% cure rate in first try. Some may need more try if failed. Problem with self treatment is not every vertigo is cause by this. You have to do hallpike maneuver to check for latency, duration, fatigue, direction to differentiate from central vertigo. This was educational video for medical students.

I got home and I couldn’t watch tv, lay down and most movements made me want to throw up so I start looking into and I find this.
I lay down in the first position and my eyes immediately starting looking all over the place I thought I wouldn’t even be able to make it through this, but I also knew that was a good sign.

It's easy. Stop eating bread (in fact, don't eat anything made from wheat - check label to make sure it's not an ingredient either), don't eat barley, don't eat rye and don't eat oats. Instead, eat rice, quinoa, potatoes, and yams. Gluten-free pasta is ok as well as Gluten-free bread but never buy oats, even if it says Gluten-free.

This is one of the most helpful of the Epley videos on TH-cam. I particularly like the attention paid to the proper head position during the movements. I tried this at home after after putting up with pretty severe vertigo following a head injury and it worked! I ended up needing to do several repeats to get the last of the symptoms to go away, but now I know what to do if it comes back. Thank you for posting this!!!

Wow this really worked for me! I woke up 3 mornings in a row with real fast back and forth eye movements (nystagmus), horrible bed-spins that lasted all day long, and I was nauseated for 72 hours and could barely eat. My doctor suggested I do Epley, but I was very skeptical. I did it for both ears, several times each side (vertigo was terrible while doing it) but the vertigo and the nausea have almost completely vanished 24 hours later. There is a very small residual vertigo remaining, maybe 5-10% of what I experienced over that 72 hour nightmare. I had horrible anxiety that it was never going to end, so you can imagine the relief I am experiencing right now.

So grateful for this clear video and Dr Epley. Second time this has helped me in a year. Seems like the crystals can on rare occasions fall out of alignment when I do shoulder stand or plow position in yoga. Thanks to this doctor who produced the video, I don’t have to deprive myself of favorite health enhancing yoga positions as I know what to do now in case the crystals fall off. Dangerous and life limiting to have vertigo whatever the cause. May God bless the doctor who produced this... as well as Dr Epley.

How bad was your vertigo and which position worked for you please?

    • @gjquito
      @gjquito 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

Hi Minnie. I had my first instance of vertigo about a year ago. That was quite bad. It persisted a couple of days and I was always hit by dizziness and instability whenever I stood up and walked. When I lay on bed, the room would rotate round and round in full 360 degrees -- the sensation was nothing short of physical and visual. Sometimes, I would just fall flat on the mat or bed due to lack of balance. Thankfully, I found this video on the Epley maneuver. tried the it three times with increasing degrees of exactitude, and suddenly, the vertigo disappeared and I could function well again.
Re your question about which position.... The Epley maneuver is not just one position but a short series of four or so positions that should be done in the proper sequence, as demonstrated in the above video. You have to do the positions in sequence because that's how the dislodged "crystals" in the ear canal are eased back to where they should normally be. The Epley maneuver takes less than five minutes and very easy to do. The hardest part, which isn't really that hard, is trying to remember which position follows which and how long or short to hold it before going on to the next position.
If I'm right, the vertigo occurred after I would do my daily yoga shoulder stand and rise up on my feet too fast. The second instance of vertigo was about two weeks ago. This time, it was not as severe. There was no room rotation, but dizziness and instability when getting up and walking. The vertigo didn't last that long because I already knew to go to this video and review the Epley maneuver. I did it a couple of times and it worked right away. I avoided doing the shoulder stand the next day but am now back to doing one of my favorite yoga positions every morning and every night before retiring.
There are a number of videos on the Epley maneuver on TH-cam but I believe this one posted by Fauquier is clearest one... both on how it's done and in explaining the scientific reason why the maneuver works. But looking at some other videos can also help commit it to your short term memory as needed for doing the positions in sequence.
Of course there are several causes of vertigo. But displaced ear crystals (BBPV, short for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo) is one of the most common causes, and this is where the Epley maneuver would work. Hope this helps.

    This worked for me!
The thirty seconds during the first step of the maneuver is fairly nightmarish. You'll be dizzy as hell during that time but you have to keep your head in that lowered position. Don't bail! When the dizziness stops, stay there for 30 seconds more, then go on to the next step.
The dizziness is kind of like the feeling you get when you throw up. It sucks when you're going through it (like it sucks when when you actually are vomiting) but the feeling afterward is so, so much better.

I tried the Epley Maneuver before from written instructions, but it never worked for me. I now realize that I did it completely wrong. My story : Left ear was ringing for about 30 seconds Saturday. Monday morning I couldn’t get out of bed due to feeling the room was spinning, nauseous. Slept all day except for meals, rest did not help, my brain was experiencing a stress pain and I also had a stiff neck. Tuesday , Wednesday sick all day and continued sleeping a lot, felt slight relief in evenings. Thursday went to doc who told me to do this maneuver and prescribed serc. I took serc on the evening I didn’t feel it helped a lot. Doc also suggested a blood test to check for iron deficiency etc. I fasted for 12 hours and went to give blood and urine sample Friday morning. Had breakfast plus another dose of serc, did not feel relief and went to nap. Woke up and decided to try the maneuver , I felt the spinning stopped but still some dizziness and brain pain. Later in the day I had a neck massage and a Tylenol as my neck was sore, went for a drive( someone else drive) and came home feeling amazing. It’s been a few hours and I keep getting better. Waiting on blood test results and will repost in a few days my progress. Good luck to anyone going experiencing vertigo, hope you get relief!

Fantastic video. I had extreme vertigo when lying down and was terrified and alone at home. After two weeks and researching on the net, I realised that it shouldn't be a central health issue as it only happened in this specific move (although I was feeling a bit unstable generally). Then I found a reference for BPPV and researched all the manoeuvres existing before doing one of them. I was convinced EPLEY had to be the first to try and followed exactly the moves on this video. It is very helpful because it helps you understand also the anatomy and the consequences of your moves. I did it by myself twice and my symptoms cleared with a leftover light dizziness which went away gradually. I am not very clear in general and the literature is divided on whether you must follow or not any precautions after the manoeuvre. I did but they may not be needed.

I had a severe case of vertigo about 2 yrs ago. It's a pretty unpleasant condition to experience. It was so bad I almost fell over a couple of times, but was able to catch myself. I ended up going to the emergency room of my local hospital. After they gave me anti nausea meds, and an IV, I felt better, but told my friend about suffering vertigo. It was still there, just not as severe. He told me to try the the epley manuever, so I did and it worked! I was cured!

samljer And the nausea afterwards is also terrible. I’m on my fifth day of vertigo. My physical therapist attempted the Epley movements, but still there although it is resolving quicker each time.
Update: I believe it may finally be gone after several weeks of fear and suffering. I’m hopeful anyway. It’s pretty difficult to live a somewhat normal life with Vertigo. My physical therapist even commented that she was concerned I was still experiencing “sloshy brain” Unfortunately, I got the impression from some near to me that they did not take it seriously. Anyway, best of luck to everyone else who is dealing with this.

The best animated demonstration out of so many other videos done on real people. It has definitely helped me from the worst of vertigo situation I was in.. But i can't say my problem is solved 100%. I am yet to ascertain if its completely gone. So many times, i am intentionally not taking any chance to get up instantly or lie down. But one thing i am sure of, that it has helped and probably I might hav to try this procedure if I am into similar dizziness again in a day or two.
    My observation:
When u lie down u hav to figure out which side to start with. I started up with my right side and didn't feel any dizziness as mentioned in the video that ur eyes might feel rolling etc etc, which was an indication that I hav started up on a wrong side. So i again stood back and sat upstraight for few seconds and lie down position, this time kept my head towards 45 angle at left side. As soon as i started with my left side I literally felt my head spinning which was also an indication i hav started correct.. Then you just follow as beautifully instructed. It works.. Dont be in hurry.. Be there at every position for a minute before finally getting back to sitting position. I understand the pain u might hav gone thru as i hav felt it personally. I wish u all get well soon. Namaste! Good luck! Salaam!

I had bppv for 5 days. I followed this video on the 3rd day. I felt slightly better but didn’t go away. So I went to see my PCP. They recommended instead of turning your head right and left in the beginning like in the video , to do one side first. So example: turn your head left waiting the 30-60 seconds, then turning on your left side 30-60 seconds. L, then sitting up. If that didn’t help do your right side, repeat. When I did that I was cured right away. Doing my right side first didn’t work but once I did my left side. Omg a miracle. 😅😊

I have just used this procedure for the second time in 6 years to relieve the symptoms associated with this type of vertigo and am pleased to say it has worked again.
I would advise anyone who tries this to not give up if it does not work first time.
I had to change position of the pillow and vary the time (to about 60 secs) and it worked after 5 attempts I think.
I remember it did not work first time when I had it 6 years ago.

Hello, i have went to see a doctor and the doctor diagnosed my condition as BPPV. I am writing this to you hoping that you can give me some help.
So when i move around, i still feel slight unbalance especially when i move my head. Its been 5 days and i have tried doing this exercises twice (interval of 2 days) but i did not see my world spinning at all. Now, when i look downwards my head hurts a little but its not spinning nor i feel any dizziness, also i feel more fatigue and hard to concentrate. When i sleep i move my head and body to the other side but its always the movement that is feeling strange to me, like i am over sensitive when i am turning coz i can feel the blood(?) flowing? its just really strange feeling but i am not seeing my world spinning.
Please give me some guidance thank you so much

Its recommended to be checkdd up by Specialist in face nose and throat. Otorrhinolaringology. Because might be other disordees associated with the ear. I remember tjey did several years ago a Ct scan from ears to se if i had injury inside. But nope. Just the ear infection.
