As a very big fan of the Boing 747 for nearly 50 years, I think this model plane is AMAZING and BEAUTIFUL!! It has always been my most favorite commercial airliner of all my life!! Feeling a little nostalgic here... I was fortunate to be on the flightline crew at Boeing/Everett responsible for the final assembly, sys functional tests and preflight of the first 747-400. This took me back to that day in '88. There were 100's other employees lining the runway, all who'd put in countless hours, shed blood/sweat.. finally sharing a collective OMG when wheels left the ground, and that 'yesss, it *is* a $@ airplane!' Wow. Even though I was laying in bed watching this, I had the urge to fold up my tray table and bring my seat back to its fully upright position during the landing.
Very impressive model aircraft and flight demonstration! Absolutely amazing! I cannot imagine having the inspiration or the pocketbook to undertake such a venture. The design alone seems impossible much moreso the power and controls. While such a model cannot perform in a manner like a Moki powered Bucker Jungmeister same seldom gets applause on each pass like this flight garnered. This jet model 747 is a wonder of the hobby just as the leaning tower in Italy is a wonder of the world. Congratulations on an amazing accompaniment and thank you for sharing your model with the world!
The only negative I see is that they are operating from a grass field, I have never seen a real 747 use unimproved soft runways, looking at the guy's hanger of scale turbine aircraft at the beginning of the video you'd think they could pool their resources and pour a proper concrete runway for their models. For the cost of two of those turbines they could have themselves a 5cm thick runway 8meters wide and 50 meters long.
