polygon’s spider-man coverage is fantastic! i am so happy to see that insomniac put this much effort into the game. i was on the fence about investing in a ps4...but god of war...and now spider-man...😬🤔
I noticed they left out W 52nd street where the Ed Sullivan theater is. David letterman did the Late Show there and a common skit would be where he would see how many people in a spider man costume could fit in certain shops around the city at once.
Another thing I noticed swinging around was large portions of midtown, particularly around Bryant Park. The park was lopped off quite a bit and actually shifted a few streets over.
Actually, rather than the Cloisters, that Northern park and church looks much more closely modeled on Trinity Church Cemetery and Mausoleum, at 153rd and Broadway on the edge of Harlem (so roughly where they cut off Manhattan in the game). Actually a pretty significant landmark, its got Mayor Koch and James Audubon in it, and other famous tenants.
I feel like they took a bunch of the lesser known buildings and put them together to make one. Like my building and the building next to mine where put together. Stuyvesant high school tho is freaking spot on.
I think they nailed things close enough. As someone who has only been to New York for a total of a bout 4 days I can say that it feels close enough for me! Haha. I have enjoyed seeing what people who are actually familiar with the layout think of things though, and learning what all is actually changed since my memory is so bad they could have rearranged the entire Island and I would have fell for it. being 1 to 1 replication lol.

I like how you try to not be depressed in the near end bit
is the vox media building in the game
polygon’s spider-man coverage is fantastic! i am so happy to see that insomniac put this much effort into the game. i was on the fence about investing in a ps4...but god of war...and now spider-man...😬🤔
If gta was to go back to “liberty city”, they would top this. gta iv had the best new work in a video game at that time
Grand central station and its elevated bridge thingy looks great ingame. Guggenheim museum, Chrysler building, Rockefeller look really good too
I sincerely adore this woman.
Marcelo Souza would u buy her a pumpkin spice latte? Lol
I never knew that NYC has an old railway that was renovated into an elevated park! That's awesome.
So we just going to pretend that they didn't put the Domino sugar factory in Manhattan rather than leave it in Brooklyn. So weird
I didn't even realize that...
I've realised that
i’m so here for this absolutely correct hudson yards shaming
wait so what is stark tower replacing?
Avengers tower*
Taryn Wesley nothing it’s just in a spot over random buildings i live near by where it would be
where is the statue of liberty
what about the avengers building? what did that replace?
your mom
@@ModestPilgrim1 you must be a 2nd grader.
XxDeadBunnyxX nothing it’s just plopped over random buildings would be I live in NYC
@Modest Pilgrim I thought 10 y/o weren't supposed to have accounts on youtube
@@chadchadimus2529 I would be proud if they plopped it above my house
You forgot the Avengers Tower
Excellent video, thanks!
I was happy to see they included the Hook and Ladder 8 Firehouse from Ghostbusters! :)
You ain’t from NY if you pronounce bagels like how she did. Wtf was that
"baagels"
I noticed they left out W 52nd street where the Ed Sullivan theater is. David letterman did the Late Show there and a common skit would be where he would see how many people in a spider man costume could fit in certain shops around the city at once.
MOM
Cant forget how accurate the projects are
Freedom Tower was originally in the game but was taken out due to licensing. You can see it in the early gameplay videos.
Another thing I noticed swinging around was large portions of midtown, particularly around Bryant Park. The park was lopped off quite a bit and actually shifted a few streets over.
Thus is just a dope video where I learned about New York with some fun spidey swinging scenes. Excellent content
The old World Trade Center can actually be seen in the game, being in a reflection from one of the skyscrapers.
I feel like they took a bunch of the lesser known buildings and put them together to make one. Like my building and the building next to mine where put together. Stuyvesant high school tho is freaking spot on.
They did have the Freedom Tower in it if you watch the E3 gameplay videos!
It’s dawning on me how little time I’ve spent near the ground. I should explore more... Great video...
One of the things I always notice and laugh about are the many, many alleys there are in this game. We don’t have alleys.
Was disappointed I couldn't see my house 🤣 #Queens
The Chrysler Building?
Great video. We needed this
I think they nailed things close enough.
The avengers tower?
Confucious Plaza is in the wrong spot, residing next to the wrong bridge. Confucious Plaza is next to the Manhattan bridge but in spiderman its next to the Williamsburg bridge.
Hopefully Spider-Man 2 has wayy more accurate buildings like the Hudson Yards or Billionaires Row
This is something that reminds me that Spider Man 2 (PS2), all the way from 2004, is not that far off
I was just wondering about this, thanks Polygon!
The modern museum of contemporary art in the game instead of Moma
The first thing I noticed is the significantly smaller Union Square Park and the absence of Chelsea piers
