It only took me 25 years to try it. But I have finally tried my first Pabst Blue Ribbon. And I have to say it is really good will buy this one again. Cheers Ron!
Ron, I really enjoy your beer videos and the insight you offer. Great stuff. I remember touring the Pabst Brewery in Milwaukee back in the 1980s along with the Pabst Mansion on Wisconsin Avenue in Brewtown. Thanks for bringing back some great memories. I'll enjoy a Pabst from time to time. Actually the beers I really enjoy when I want a break from craft are Miller high life and Corona. Of course there's no beating the aroma of a Founder's Porter, one of my alltime favorites. Keep the videos coming. You are quite the beer aficionado.
Hey Ron, I enjoy your reviews. Your man cave area looks cool and seeing the swag always helps. PBR is my go to beer in the summertime here in michigan. I remember my dad and uncles going through of a lot of it in the 70's. Love drinkin it outside when it's hot. Thanks!
Hey Ronald! I picked up a 24 ounce can of PBR on the way home tonight, and I can't believe I found one of your PBR reviews that I hadn't seen yet! A great surprise. This is a fine beer for the price. I got the 24 once can for $1.89. My Grandfather used to drink PBR, a classic working man's beer. There is just nothing wrong with this beer, easy drinking, refreshing, flavorful, a little spice, good levels of carbonation, and it goes with anything. Laissez les bons temps rouler!
Ronald, you are right to a point here. Many craft lagers are very similar to PBR when ice cold. When you let them warm up to 45 degrees or so many of the crafts tend get better while Pabst does not.
Good review Jay. Nice historical summary. One of my favorite "middle shelf" lagers. I have had Andekker (sp?) beer back in the early 1980s and I thought it was an import beer. It was a fine beer and cost about 20% more than the normal AALs.
Your beer reviews are great! Honestly one of a kind. I just came across your channel and i want to say thanks for sharing your knowledge and unbias opinion on topics. I have been a regular, standard, and responsible drinker since the age of 21. I hope to gain more knowledge from your vids. Thank you Sir. Peace. Much respect. -LosAngelesCalifornia 213
I am 58 years old. Saying that, PBR tastes like "beer" as defined by all the roll models of my childhood. PBR was the common man's beer in the 1970's and early 1980's. It was later in my adulthood that I started drinking beer. About that time, the craft beer craze became popular. May I say, I have tried a lot of craft beer. But I always gravitate back to PBR as my beer of choice with the exception of Yuengling which I put right up there with PBR. Neither over power the food I am eating along side them. And may I say that I have never had a hang over the morning after drinking a sixer of PBR, And that is a beautiful thing.
I don't think I've had this since college nearly 30 years ago. For a while, it was not readily available, but has become popular (trendy) again. Picked up a 16oz single and it was very good. Reminds me a little of the new M. Best Lager. Might grab a 12 pack the next time I see it around.
Great video Jay pbr is such a underrated beer and man making me thirsty with all your fancy beers and now you're making me hungry too with that food!!!
Another great review. Your knowledge and enthusiasm about beer is very impressive. I've always enjoyed the regular beer reviews. I also see a little herman the German on the can in the background. Just wondering what you thought of a local beer for me. Keep up the great work.
I'd love to find this beer in bottles in San Antonio but I can only find it in Pint cans. Excellent tasting though and a great example of a true classic!
Hey Ron, PBR is brewed under license in Canada by Sleeman Breweries I believe. I'm not sure if Sleeman has a presence in the States, but they are a premium brewer here. PBR is also available in draft at a few bars in Ontario. Solid beer IMO
Great video Ron! I thoroughly enjoyed this one, as a matter of fact I drank 2 pbr's while watching this video... It's my go to domestic, and no I'm not a hipster either I judt appreciate great tasting relatively inexpensive beer... It's a great beer of your out mowing the lawn
You can get a 24-pack of PBR for 12.99 here in central Illinois. PBR in my opinion has more of a hop profile than the likes of Miller High Life, Budweiser, Busch and you know where i'm going with those comparisons. I would place PBR among the likes of Stroh's, Yuenglings, and Schlitz(although I would agree that the latter 3 have more of a hop profile). I also had seen where you and Maria Devan had talked about cigarette smokers not being able to taste the profiles as well as non-smokers, and while this may be true(I'm not a scientist lol) I feel as though after I have the taste of tobacco in my mouth the taste of the beer is much more intense and you can contrast it better than if say I hadn't smoked a cigarette or had a chicken sandwich. That's just me though.
Yeah it is, but you can get a 30-pack of Natty Ice at 5.9% for 12.99 too. I guess I can' kind of understand, I've just smoked so long I can't really speak on if I had never smoked.
Ronald Theriot I think Pabst has a richer more bolder flavor or beer flavour I think thats why people my age group are drinking it rather than Budweiser
What I find interesting is that every store I go to will have it in cans but very few will have it in bottles both 12 and 40 oz. The 16 oz cans arent in every store either.
Tomas A. Molina Here, it's 6 & 12 packs of bottles, six-packs of pints, 12-, 18-, & 24- packs of cans. That's all I recall them ever having in the New Orleans area. And, draft, at some stores and bars.
Have you reviewed PBR Light? Just found a 30 rack here in the Chicago burbs, it's the first time I've ever seen it. To sum it up, it taste exactly like regular PBR, (even stronger bite in my opinion) it just isn't as heavy with the mouthfeel. 110 cal.
I guess some beers just aren't made to be "light"! Still would love to see a review Ronald! I also can't find Red Stripe Light anymore, which was amazing.
When I started drinking beer about 11 years ago I remember my light beer drinking friends would look down on Pabst. I never understood it because to me Pabst tasted better than any other macro beer we drank. Looking back I realized they didn’t like it because it had real beer flavor. PBR is the best beer for its price here in CT Narragansett is right up there as well.
Ron, I was hoping that maybe Pabst reinstated the Bock formula occasionally. A lot of times old recipes are introduced regionally. Pabst made "Old Tankard" back in 2015 and it was a really good brew, then it wasn't available anymore. If you find it down there, please do a video review.
One of the Supermarkets in the UK now stock this in 6pk cans and 660ml bottles. So picked up a 6 pk for £6, which is probably overpriced compared to what you guys get it for. Anyway weather here today was hot so thought I would give this a try. Got to say this is possibly the best American Macro Lager I have tried, alongside Michelob and Coors (not the light version). Went well with a Jim Beam Devil's cut on the side ;-)
Ah, I've never had the famous Devil's Cut. We can get six-packs of 473-ml cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon, here, for $3.40, plus 10% tax. I'm glad you enjoy one of our famous lagers, and thanks for watching, Andrew Campbell. I appreciate it!
People always say that, but, and this is a big "but", if you read things written before 1919 by the companies and about the beers, what they describe seems to be just like what I taste when I am drinking Coors Banquet or Pabst Blue Ribbon or Budweiser, today, Mitchell Mulder. just finishing the last can from the 6pack I bought. Think I told you previously that it is much more expensive in the UK, marketed alongside the craft beers and super premium euro lagers. I would probably not buy it again at our prices but certainly would if it was at your prices. Ronald Theriot burgermeister burgie beer still exists or are you guys discussing a different kind of beer? I find their bottle openers from time to time so I suspect it existed in California for a time or perhaps the bottle openers were brought with people moving here but I suspect it's been gone a long while if it was indeed sold here.

I hear Pabst Blue Ribbon is one of America's first canned beers. Can you confirm if that statement is true? I like watching ur reviews. From Canada Ontario! Cheers!
+Ronald Theriot I had pabst yesterday a fantastic beer same with Old Millwakee these old school American beers along with high life and taste way better than Bud coors light MGD. Bud light which sucks same with Budwiser sucks
Great PBR review. I think this is a great beer that leaves you feeling "proud to be an American". Much better than Dos Equis Ambar... Thanks for the review.
PBR is my favorite budget beer if not beer in general. It has that perfect taste. And great review, I'll be watching more!
Bazemore Thanks a lot for watching, Bazemore. I appreciate it! Yeah, Pabst has it going on!
+Bazemore mine too
It only took me 25 years to try it. But I have finally tried my first Pabst Blue Ribbon. And I have to say it is really good will buy this one again. Cheers Ron!

Thanks! I appreciate y ou watching!
This is one of my favorites
Mine, too.
I like your reviews with a food pairing! Great video

I agree with everything you say Ron, this is a very clean and tasty beer. In fact I'm enjoying a 6 pack while watching your review.

I believe that.

There's no doubt about that, Joseph.
@@ronaldtheriot my old man never let it sit when out of the ice. Good stuff.
Cool Pabst chalice!

I'm enjoying an ice cold PBR right now, Jay. Cheers!
Excellent, Guy! I plan to buy some more of it, soon enough.
Lol glad I’m not the only one that sips a cold one and TH-cam’s reviews of the thing I’m drinking. 😂
Good review Jay. Nice historical summary. One of my favorite "middle shelf" lagers. I have had Andekker (sp?) beer back in the early 1980s and I thought it was an import beer. It was a fine beer and cost about 20% more than the normal AALs.

Great video....I really enjoy the beer history lesson
Thanks, and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
4:21 -- "Because it has flavor". Excellent response :D
Thanks!
My go-to adjunct lager as they call it. Hey, be grateful of those PBR promos. They are cool.
Hefipale Burp I am grateful. For sure!

Benjamin Caudillo Greetings back to you, Benjamin Caudillo. I appreciate you watching, from over in California. Thanks a lot!
i've been drinking PBR these days & it's a really good beer.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching, Matthew Wallace. I appreciate it!
Wish I could try it in a bottle. Well I've had it on tap so can't get much better than that.
Yes, the tap is the best version. I do hope you find it in the bottle, one day. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it!
Went out and bought a 24oz of PBR and a 32oz of High Life; 2 of my favorites. Tonight's going to be enjoyable.
Ah, I hope you had a good night!
It was sir! If you haven't already, you should do a blind taste test bottle vs can. One of the best beer review channels here.

+Terrence LaBroix Yes, I am aware of the Sleeman connection, Terrance, but I've not ever tried any of their Pabst branded items.

I just recently started doing beer reviews here on TH-cam and I'm definitely putting PBR in the pipeline for a future review.
That is a "most excellent" decision!
You can get a 24-pack of PBR for 12.99 here in central Illinois. Ron, have you ever drank Pabst Bock beer? Haven't seen it in over 35 years....It was decent as I recall (was at a party in high school).
No, I have not, because it was long gone, by the time I started drinking beer (Feb., 1996). Thanks for watching, Hammond Eggert. I appreciate it!

How about before probation? How did beer taste? It tasted like a lot of craft beer
People always say that, but, and this is a big "but", if you read things written before 1919 by the companies and about the beers, what they describe seems to be just like what I taste when I am drinking Coors Banquet or Pabst Blue Ribbon or Budweiser, today, Mitchell Mulder. We get 6 packs of pabst in cans for 3.49 because we're close to milwaukee. Any similar deals down there?
Well, some places have 6-packs of pint cans for $4.99, but we don't get any great Pabst deals. Some bars might have good draft offers, though.
What'll you have? I'll have a PBR! Great video! Sippin' on some PBR now. It never disappoints. Cheers!
I'm glad you enjoyed this video!
Pretty sure they did not use adjuncts like rice and corn
But, if you look at pre-1919 Budweiser labels, it lists rice, just as it does, now.
I hear Pabst Blue Ribbon is one of America's first canned beers. Can you confirm if that statement is true? I like watching ur reviews. From Canada Ontario! Cheers!
I have no information on that, but it sounds plausible, Haris Ansari. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it!
Do you have any pbr gear you’d be willing to sell?
No, I do not. Thanks for watching, Preston DeMouy. I appreciate it!
