@@akilelawless8460I wouldn't consider her a villain since the whole setting is in hell and I feel like everyone is their own villain and have their own evil ways. But that's just my take.
Honestly, there is a lot about Stella that is like… she’s a terrible wife, okay, whatever. But trying to paint the picture that she is a “bad mom” or that she doesn’t love Via by having Stolas get up to take care of HIS OWN CHILD… it’s not it. Maybe she was tired. Maybe she was sick. MAYBE IT WAS HIS TURN AND A NORMAL PART OF CARING FOR A CHILD IN A TWO PARENT HOUSEHOLD. Fight me.
@@notyourpookiee for sure. “She tried to have Stolas killed!” Oh, g She *tried* to do… what everypawdy else in the show has been doing SUCCESSFULLY since the pilot. How very dare she act from the same ethical starting point as legiterally everyone in the show!
I feel like the backstory they gave stolas and blitz was very.. Forced. This sudden "they met as kids and were instantly smitten with each other" thing felt like something a fan would write as a theory on ao3, not as an actual part of the show.. Vivzie has this issue, instead of letting a relationship develop naturally she has to throw ships in your face as hard as possible.. Same with Stella being an irredeemable bitch. This is just that yaoi trope of "Woman gets in the way of gay ship" all over again
It wasn't forced at all? Stolas' father took him to the circus and Blitz used to work at a circus and Blitz' father owned the circus so it makes sense why they met. Plus, Cash Bucko's circus was very popular because of Fizz. Fizz was like a town celebrity, everybody knew of him. Lol only Stolas was smitten with Blitz but Blitz looked like he was having fun with Stolas at the end. They only hung out together once and Stolas never saw Blitz for 2 decades.
Stella was always an irredeemable B lol she is a spoiled rotten rich girl and her big brother acts the same way as her but he isn't a hot head. Are you forgetting that it was an arranged marriage? Neither of them were attracted to each other and they were only doing what was expected of them, both of them were miserable and Stella was lashing out at Stolas. Plus, Brandon Rogers (a gay man) agreed with making Blitz and Stolas a couple and he's one of the writers of Helluva Boss. Everybody can write about gay relationships or straight relationships, stop trying to segregate people.
@Claudia_Crimson_585, it was very forced. And it doesn't help their relationship either... blitzo was bought for a day, and was bored with stolas the entire time, blitzo had no desire to be friends with stolas. He only found interest in stolas's book. After they're forced play date, they haven't seen each other in 25 years. That back story was just to make us think that they're meant to be but failed. It added nothing to the story. It was just an excuse to show blizto and stolas as adorable kids.
I wouldnt mind Stella being an irridemable bitch if they didnt give Stolas an out for every misdeed. Like some people are just assholes but suddenly she has a brother who she needs because she's not smart enough? I felt like that was more forced... but again, wouldnt have a problem if they bothered holding Stolas accountable for his side of his bull!
dont even start me on this, Im getting furious every time Stolas accuses Blitz of something, FUCKING FORGETTING EVERYTHING THAT HE SAID ONCE, like excuse me, Stolas, do you ACTUALLY have a bird brain or something?? I just wish and pray that he`ll get whats coming to him one day and realise that hes not that "Yeah he makes mistakes, but hes kind and caring, and he tries so hard((" person as most people think
The worst part about western energy is that in apology tour Stolas brings it up like he expected Blitz to just drop his daughter to come after a man he doesn't even have a real relationship with?!??! Blitz even told him that he had to take her to get her shot because she needs it and it takes five years to get an appointment, yet he genuinely thought that him sending people he trusted fully to get him wasn't enough? If the roles were reversed there, Stolas would have chosen his daughter to prove he's a good dad, so what's wrong with Blitz choosing his daughter??
Because the show will do anything to blame Blitzo and favor Stolas. Like when Blitzo makes Stolas uncomfortable? They treat this as a very serious thing and will call Blitzo out for this, when Stolas makes Blitzo uncomfortable? They will treat this as a joke. As you said if Stolas was the one who prioritized his daughter health over saving Blitzo the show would say that Stolas is such a good father, for making his daughter his number one priority, but since its Blitzo they gotta act like he was being selfish for not coming to rescue Stolas (even tho he did send the M&Ms)
Funnily enough, in S2 E2, Stolas LITERALLY still chooses Blitz over Octavia. He CHOSE to stay at the film set and said “hurry up so we can go and find Via” when not even five minutes earlier he was stressing about running out of time to find her. He could have chosen to bail on Blitz to go and look for her himself, but he chose not to The show keeps trying to tell us that Stolas is a good father, but he’s actually incredibly neglectful and isn’t pulled up on it outside of “my dad loves him more than me/hates my mum more than he loves me”, which has been the repeated theme with the two of them so far It’s no wonder Stolas got upset at Blitz for not choosing him over Loona, because if the roles were reversed, Stolas would have chosen Blitz, and he’s upset that Blitz didnt make the choice that *he* would have made
Crazy thing is stolas kind of acknowledged in Western Energy that what blitz was doing was important. I'm pretty sure after blitz explained the situation, stolas literally said "well I agree, that is important" or something along those lines. I feel like they just kind of *made* him mad about it in apology tour for the plot
I’m gonna be honest, I would have preferred if Vivian kept the “Stolas as the villain trope” over what we got now. All Helluva Boss is now is a literal Wattpad fanfic
Stolitz was born to be unabashedly toxic Yaoi, forced to be “oh b-but Stolas was abused and doesn’t know better and ackshually everything is Blitz’s fault guys 🥺🥺”
I think the main issue is that the creation took so long that there were too many opportunities to rewrite, rethink, and retool. The obsessed and bloated social media-based following is both a boon and a liability which exacerbated the current state. Boon because it kept everyone interested during the famine years and actually drove the thing to be created. Bad because it needed to be continuously fed with art, shorts, little bonuses, "lore", etc. All of which were created without a solid, established, cannon to be tethered to, and therefore grew in every direction like wild weeds. Which means some things were added without much thought other than "this would be cool" and now many of these bonus things are having to be pared off and made non-cannon to create a show that actually works. The sinners-not-being-able-to-die thing is an example of bonus "lore" fed into the fandom via social media....but which actually causes plot issues in the show proper, and is now being ignored and sort of swept under the rug and not mentioned in-show. A lot of content, such as the Pilot, the Blitz/Stolas Instagram posts, and even the "Look my way" song, are now all unofficial parts which don't really fit the main cannon of the show anymore. As a result, it often feels like we're watching rough drafts being made and tossed, and things being scribbled out and rewritten with the marker still visible, which is confusing and upsetting, and yes, makes it feel Wattpad-fic unpolished.
There's something that feels lowkey misogynistic about how Stolas was initially depicted as having a mutually unhappy marriage they were trying to keep together for Octavia and the cheating was the breaking point, but then it turns out Stella is just a raging bitch with no redeeming qualities to make it okay Stolas is cheating. Especially since Helluva Boss has faced a lot of criticism for how badly it writes female characters.
I don't get why she can't write a compelling story from a female character's perspective. Genuinely, in this show, the only arc a woman had (I believe) is Loona learning to like her dad. Then the character progression backtracked by having her hit him for laughs. Lmao
@@Jdudec367 think about their character growth compared to the male characters, how many episodes do we have about loona’s backstory compared to literally any of the main male characters, do your own research on it i don’t know what to tell you
Maybe that could be better. And maybe he can make amends with Stella, if not, maybe he’ll just cut his losses and be in a relationship that’s not just about sex.
I love how this video is 10 months old and all of your analysis is still true! Not only that but Stolas gets much worse, he blames Blitz for making it always about sex but in the end HE is the one that always insinuates it BY MAKING THE DEAL WITH HIM IN THE FIRST PLACE Damn! Your analysis was great and I love how you always mention Octavia especially since many TH-camrs only talk about her only for the duplicate episodes of lulu land. Overall great job! Keep up the amazing work!
I hate that Vivzie didn't give Stella any backstory and completely writing her character as the "shitty mom that hates his husband and child and tried to assassinate her husband because she wanted him gone" Like- I completely understand that she can be abusive to Stolas but wasn't she a victim of the arranged marriage too? She was forced to be with wife and a baby maker to the man she doesn't truly love, and guess what- THATS THE EXACT SAME THING WITH STOLAS, but instead- he gets babied and pitied because the show describes him as a victim but not Stella either??? They were atleast keeping afloat in the arrangement until Stolas cheated on Stella and she got extremely pissed by that, but in the shows logic and writing- "Stella is just a irredeemable bitch that apparently shouldn't get any sympathy because that would make you a complete a-hole" and suddenly that makes it okay that Stolas cheated on her. God i hate the writing in the show 🤦♂️
"Because he is her dad". Do you realize how toxic that sounds? That's like saying "Oh, her dad might've beaten her up and slapped her, but she won't run away! Because he is her dad!" Stolas cheating and paying more attention to Blitzø than Octavia, his clearly upset daughter, is toxic. She should not forgive him until he stops sleeping with blitzø. This is bad writing.
And knowing how we never saw octavia again after episode 2, I doubt this season would focus on that dynamic when Stolitz is more important to the writers.
@@dragonempress8367 Of course thats toxic. Never claimed it was good. But its just what happens in reality too. Rejecting someone you love because of their toxicity means loosing that person - something many people are too afraid of / not (yet) strong enough to do. Her on the stand rejecting him would be bad writing - because thats not what happens in reality, considering her fear of loosing her dad from a young age. Her struggle on the other hand is way more realistic. Also, the problem is not stolas sleeping with blitzø. Its him only seeing Blitzø and not thinking about the consequences, or even his own daughter. Parents can find new love and still have a good relationship to their children. However stolas is almost neglectful - not entirely on purpose but still. Octavia (as well as Stella & Her brother) are a main Part of Stolitz as the opposing force if you will. So im pretty sure they will get more screentime in the second part of this Season. (Also there are 2 more seasons to come)
My father had an affair for over a decade and was physically and emotionally abusive. I remember that during the divorce, while my mother was in the hospital because of him, he took me and my sibling to Disneyland to reconnect. He spent the entire trip at the hotel on the phone with his mistress, and neglected us the entire time unless he had to yell at us, or tell us how much better his girlfriend was than our mom. To see my dad in a character like Stolas who is painted to be sympathetic, beautiful, desirable, and soft is reprehensible to me, and no amount of justification with his wife being a bullying shrew can undo that. I feel like Vivzie has such a lenient perception of abuse, and I’m seeing similar patterns of disregard towards abuse and manipulation in Hazbin, especially in episode four, where Valentino’s abuse is song-and-danced off by Angel and Husk, like he didn’t just beat the shit out of Angel and make him film non consensual porn for 16+ hours. It is such a massive let-down, since her buildups are always so promising.
I`m so sorry you had to go through ANY of that I genuinely am, no child deserves a father like that. Stolas isn`t really abusive though at least not physically that`s for sure. He isn`t innocent but he isn`t abusive. Not really a lenient perception, I mean Valentino isn`t just shrugged off...it`s a song showing that Angel isn`t alone in his suffering.
Thank you for putting this into words. I come from a similar situation; my (now ex-)step-dad reconnected with an old girlfriend that he left just before meeting my mom. While not physically ab*sive, he definitely used every other psychological game in the book. From financial to emotional to pure mind games. Guess who was his scapegoat. He went behind our whole family's back for a long-ass time until he came clean about his "fishing trips". He came home to me being home alone and info-dumped about how his girlfriend from 15+ years ago is his old soul mate, his ex's dad forced him to leave her and he wouldn't have otherwise, and how my mom (his wife at the time) just doesn't understand, plus 10 years ago she wanted to do a threesome sex thing that she couldn't commit to, so this is really her fault because this is her sex thing. I wish I was joking. He was the type to try to endear himself to you by bad-mouthing everyone else's secrets. My mom said the affair was the last straw and demanded a divorce, and good for her. He went through the courts kicking and screaming. But if you asked his family, since my mom initiated the divorce, they treated her like pure shit. They acted as if she was Stella, just a pure evil brat who doesn't know how good she has it. They demonized her to hell and back while their actual family disappointment was pampered and patted on the back for "putting up with her". I see a lot of my dad in Stolas, especially when they emphasize him not showing up and being rewarded for doing the bare minimum. That being said, I'm proud of my mother for getting through all this shit. She's really happy with her partner now and has grown into a much healthier person for it. "Lenient" is a good term for how this show handles ab*se. It really gives a main character syndrome to the characters and the tone doesn't really take into account what the characters are actually doing to each other, which is weird since tone is usually what drives the story itself.
@@AlexMourning5635 I am so sorry you had to go through all of that, I am sorry for both you and your mom honestly. But I don`t see how Stolas is like your dad, Stolas wasn`t actually abusive for one and secondly it was a forced marriage he was forced to marry Stella that is very different from your story, he used to be a great dad now not anymore hell it`s debatable if he`s even a good one but he is now trying to improve as one again. I don`t see how it`s lenient when it comes to abuse tbh. You sure it gives them that syndrome? And I mean the tone does take that into account but they are like a very dysfunctional family.
For a show that wants to be about complex/bad people… it sure is afraid to allow these characters to be terrible people without holding them accountable. Blitzo seems to be the only character the show tries to address as a shit person and even he has moments where he’s clearly in the wrong (his constant sexual harassment, child murder, stalking, homophobia) as either cute quirks or gags. I think these writers are both too in love and too horny for these characters to actually hold them accountable
Helluva runs on fujoshi logic. It bends over backwards to demonize the woman "in the way" of the gay relationship so the affair can be justified. It's not only stupid but just bad writing. It saps any nuance out of the story and the relationship. If they're going to throw the actual premise of Helluva Boss out for a melodramatic love story at least make that melodramatic love story well written. The show tries so hard to justify Stolas having an affair at the expense of literally everything else it just makes him look like a terrible person, yet the show insists we feel sympathy.
Where did they demonize a womem? Tbey shown signs of her been a bitch, is written in loo loo land episode, and she even send an person to kill him, and no is not hat writtibg at all, is just tone an pacing issues, and wdym it saps out nuances? The nuance is still there, an no it does not justify the ceating did, and how is it cheating when he was been aranged marriaed since childhood?
I’ve seen that s**t a lot in many band fanfics from media such as Naruto, Tokyo Ghoul, Durarara, Final Fantasy, Dragon Age, Fire Emblem, South Park, Death Note, Seraph of the End and Harry Potter.
The recent trailer only hammers in why I still don't like the show's Stolas. They try SO hard to make him a 'I just wanted love' guy when he never expressed it entirely, initiated their first encounter drunkenly, and never really sat down with Blitzø to explain how he felt. It's sickening how they try so hard to make Blitzø look like an asshole (he is in his own way), but he's been staying in the means of their deal, Stolas wants more out of it without ACTUALLY trying. He isn't the best father either but just UGH, this show tries too hard to make him seem like a damsel and a good father.
I mean he did express it at times like in Ozzie's. I mean he has done that now, he has explained it better now after the latest episodes. Nah Stolas tried to break the deal now and is trying to be fair to Blitz now. But it doesn't say he's a good father and he usually isn't a damsel.
Gotta keep in mind S1 & S2 were written at the same time. We still got S3 & S4 left. So much show left. Give it some time. They'll address all this stuff in the future seasons.
THANK YOU! The fandom constantly oozes all over this demon owl because of his relationship with Blitz but don't wanna realize the actual flaws with him and his character. We get it. Stella hates him but the show doesn't explain enough how their relationship went downhill. His powers are limited when Octavia needs help but they're automatically in full force when Blitz needs help. Yes you've known him since childhood but he's been using you this whole time and you almost completely forget about your daughter just to have fun with your boy toy. I've never been a fan of Stolas and I absolutely agree with everything you said about him in this video. He literally puts Blitz before Octavia and that's supposed to be good parenting?? Come on now.
Oh God, Yes! I hated this ship almost from the beginning, people were so over the moon with this thing, like it is the most healthy relationship. This ship is more or less born from prostitution, Blitz is not even into Stolas that much. The series put so much effort into making Stolas the victim when blitz basically had to sell himself to get the book, yeah eventually he came to like Stolas, to care about him to some point but it's not love. And bit even Stolas is in love with Blitz, he's obsessed with him, he's in love with the idea of him.
@donatellohamato748 This ship is horrible. I don't give a fuck about the fanart or how many people find them cute. They're toxic as fuck. The show is trying so hard to make them like they're the best thing ever since sliced bread even though they're far from that. "They're trying to work things out" I don't care. It's still stupid. I agree. Blitz started warming up to him and people automatically think it's love. No. It's just sex. Stolas forgets about Octavia too often too. "He's trying to be a better father." He needs to try harder without thinking about that imp he claims to not look down on. Smh. I hate this Owl Twig so much. No matter what his fans say or how good he looks in fanart, I'm not changing my opinion of him.
I know people keep saying Valentino represents lust better than Asmodeus, but I'd argue that Stolas beats them both by far. He broke up his marriage, put his reputation on the grill, *bombed* his relationship with his daughter, abused his powers, and completely destroyed any chance he had for an honest relationship with Blitz. This man literally threw it all away for selfish pleasure, even Fizz and Asmodeus pointed that out, and we all got to see the consequences of such a venture in the end. Shame Viv threw it all away for a toxic yaoi ship. -_-
Honestly Valentino is more Wrath than lust due to him wanting control of people and abused them when they don't follow what he's says or just because he decided to. But don't forget the fact that stolas straight up blackmail blitz into having S#x with him for the book which has very r@pey vines
Dude was stuck in an abusive marriage for years, never had a choice in life And when a little freedom showed itself he took it Things are not so black and white as you make them out to be Theres a lot behind his character and why he did things He messed up a lot but he has a chance now to learn and grow
@@goblinofsharksnacks The thing is, the first time we see Stella's possible abusive nature is after she finds out about Stolas' infidelity. And honestly, if she was truly this abusive monster, that spat should've been way more violent than her shouting and throwing an imp at him. And he must not have been that scared if he was able to turn right around *and call the guy he cheated on his wife with to bodyguard him and his daughter* . Yeah, she called an assassin on him at the dinner table, but he seemed so unbothered by it, it's like he was a different character altogether. Because he *was* . Vivzie just wanted us to feel bad for him. P.S. Seeing someone else while being in an abusive relationship is just begging to make things worse. Not saying he has to stay with her, just that he ought to find a way out first before dragging in another element to an already sh*tty situation.
@@HlootooThunderhammer abuse isn't just physical, it isn't just about fear either You see it at the party the way she talks, she admits to enjoying tormenting him, he caught he hand which implied he was used to it He relies on pills to keep himself going He put up with it for years, as was stated, for his kids sake And stellas whole personality matches an abusers Vivzie knows what shes doing If you know anything about these situations, or have been through it (like me and my dad have) you'd understand whats going on, theres enough within the episodes now even without that knowledge to see whats going on I do feel for stolas, now that ive seen more, because i know exactly what hes been through
Also Stolitz always felt like diet Angel/Val to me. I’m sure if Valentino had a tragic backstory, he’d be getting the same treatment as Stolas while Angel dust is antagonized in some way.
The only reason Stolas isn't antagonized is because Blitz likes him, it's not a matter of what he did, more like who he did. (WHICH BTW IS A VERT BAD THING?? LIKE STOLAS IS A BAD PERSON.)
I fucking hate Stolas man. I actually find all the character on this show kind of annoying so I stopped watching by the end of season 1. It seems Stolas got worse on season 2.
You’re one of the many people who opened my eyes and really see Stolas as a terrible character. I was one of the people who blindly sympathized with Stolas, eventually after coming across and watching your video on why Stolas is a terrible character I started to hate him and become a Stella fan. If I was a writer working for Vivziepop I would call her out on her bulls**t and write Stella as the more sympathetic of the two and make Stolas at fault for their fallout! I’m really disappointed in Vivziepop’s writing and I wish she would take criticism as a means to improve and not to always ignore. I’m saying she should only listen to the criticism that isn’t toxic.
I agree a lot, people always sympathise him by saying "ohh he's trying his best😢" If that's his best then what's his worst? He's a narcissistic bitch tbh, like dude did everything for benefits and nothing. Idk why the Fandom likes him so much
It doesn't bother me that they gave Stolas more background than what was seen in the pilot, what bothered me was that they made it the main plot of the series (along with Blitz). If I remember correctly, Viv said that the series will have 4 seasons. Will it be the plot of the business or the ships with drama?
Also I liked him in the pilot, yeah it's one note, but I would like to ever so often get to see the insanity that is Stolas and his family but never get to see the whole thing, like at one point he will call Blitzo to talk about all of the dirty things he will do to him and in the background you can hear Stella screaming at him and glass crashing
I actually prefer a show about character developement over a show thats just about „haha killing people“. Sure, its nice too, but thats not what keeps me watching.
@@aquagamez1415 Fr that was the premise we were given, along with a fwb (no romance) on the side in the pilot. I didn't watch it for some melodramatic soap opera that became the main focus. We have more episodes about their """romance""" than the actual premise that we were shown in the first place, if they wanted to go for it they should have created a balance between it instead.
I'm fine with there being a character that uses his position of authority to coerce an individual into sex (which is essentially rape, i.e., using ones power to force another person into sex, in this case it's societal/economic power) being in a show, but to get me to think that the character is actually a good person without them changing any of the horrible things about themselves is asking too much. What's even worse is trying to write around this extremely horrible relationship by making it appear more innocent by having them have met as kids.
Shit I have characters like that, you know what the first thing I do when writing them, making sure most of the characters hate them for it and dread being near them
Completely agree, if there was more nuance around the situation maybe I could see why, maybe, but that requires super complex writing that Viv and her team just do not have. One of the worst things you can do to a character is paint them as something they aren't and in this case it's painting Stolas as someone good, which he isn't. Kinda doesn't help when the relationship is forced into every scenario in every episode either. The relationship is downright problematic(and I don't use that term lightly) and to show it as something desirable or healthy is what's wrong with society today.
@@sincerelynotme3522eh not my take. I think Stolas is actually in love with Blutz and doesn't realize he's beung used as a means to an end. Stolas genuinely cares but he's too gullible to accept that it's a one way reciprocation.
Finally, someone said it. I'd be perfectly fine if both Stolas and Stella were just generally terrible beings that brought out the worst in each other, BECAUSE THAT'S HOW THEY STARTED!!!! But for some reason, the writers (mainly Viv) want Stolas to be seen as the "good guy" despite being a fucking ARCHDEMON OF HELL. I hate this "sympathetic villain" trend because they almost always forget the VILLIAN part of it. Them trying to push Stolas so hard makes me like Stella more out of spite, even though they ruined her character just as badly as they did with Stolas.
But Stolas is not a villain in the story. He's not an antagonist or anything of the sort. And he's still a terrible person, we just see things from a twisted perspective that makes him look less bad.
i remember her always talking trash abt him when he didnt do anything (he didn't cheat yet) they both never like each other but its not a reason for treated him like she did i kinda understand stolas for hating her but cheating is not an excuse
I mean no, he has been called out too including in full moon. I mean...both Stolas and Blitz are villians then by that logic. They really didn't ruin either characters, and Stella really? She is way worse honestly.
You actually ask relevant questions that the show itself cannot answer ( Or doesn't want to answer), unlike the fans that answer with just "Oh, you're just being a hater because you're jealous of Viv!" Or " She deals with a lot! stop criticizing her! WAHHHHH!" and while I do like the show and some of the character's, I do agree that the story and morality, and character development is VERY INCONSISTANT! and it's annoying AF!!
Stolas is a prime example of the “Moral Scapegoat” trope that arose in fictional media as a cultural phenomenon in the late 2000’s. And audiences are still mostly blind to it today. Excluding the pilot episode, (pilots generally exist to sell the premise of a series, and most of the content presented is not canon compliant) Stolas is a figure of power born into a royal line that enforces the poor treatment of the average demon civilians. Stolas’ treatment of imps and Blitzø have been displayed as a show of implicit bias due to his royal background. Season one left Stolas’ upbringing up in the air, making his sexually charged actions and dismissiveness towards such characters intriguing, but clearly unacceptable. I truly did want to continue to like Stolas as a character, but can only do so as I look back and see the missed opportunities. Helluva Boss should have been focused on Blitzø’s ambition to climb the social ladder along with his employees that understand that struggle because they are all part of the lower class that Hell has denounced them to be. Stolas could have been an antagonistic character that emphasizes this struggle and puts some perspective on how those born into respect have a tendency to look down on those that have to work for it. Helluva lost sight of its premise for the majority of the episodes in season two, striking down a concept that could have been solidified while staying true to its roots. However, the focal point has shifted to the theme of generational trauma through fatherhood. It could be a rich notion if the same formula wasn’t utilized over and over again. The narrative keeps on introducing physically and emotionally abusive men and fathers that pushes the idea that the protagonists and Stolas are not supposed to take accountability for their poor choices. And it also enforces more trauma that tricks the audience into overlooking these choices for the sake of feeling sympathy. It’s alright to feel sympathy towards a character for their past, but if they do not learn to adjust their behavior, it is crucial for said character to lose something valuable to them if they fail to do this. Stolas’ implicit bias strains any realistic chance at a healthy, intimate relationship with Blitzø, let alone any other demon. However, the narrative keeps on setting him up in “cute” or “romantic” scenarios with the latter to absolve him of his wrongdoings. This doesn’t. Stolas also proves to be a bad father to Octavia because not only does his fatal flaw of being unable to change his behavior impact his sex life, but also his family life. It doesn’t matter how many times he tells Octavia that he tries to be a good father for her sake. He continues to make the same mistake of neglecting her needs. At this point, Stolas deserves to have Octavia distance herself from him. Yet, I highly doubt the writers will actually let him lose her, even if it would be a genius writing decision to allow Octavia to leave him rather than the other way around.
I very much agree, I would have preferred a thousand times that stolas was more of an antagonistic figure that shows the reality that is in the world of Blitz. But the way the show tries to give prominence and "substance" to his relationship with Blitz seems wasteful to me.I say this because we could focus on more interesting things than his drama. Like Millie, fizzarolli, Barbie wire and how it was before he created IMP.And as a character, Stolas falls short for me, he is a character who does not change and should not, he is the victim of everyone in his life, and he is someone who always justifies his actions. He does not need to learn a lesson or be better, because he is someone who is already complete, the only thing this man needs is happiness and all this drama ends.
No he isn't as he isn't that trope. There really aren't many if any missed opportunities though. Nah it should have been what it is. No it didn't lose sight of its premise ever, it still has a concept that works though. It's more then just that, it's also the Imps class based struggle and a whole bunch of things really. Not at all it doesn't push that idea at all, how does it? It doesn't trick the audience into overlooking these choices. Well Stolas and Blitzo could still both change really. No it sets him up as also being a flawed mess and Blitzo doesn't absolve him of his wrongdoings. This does. True. He is still working on it though. Nah he just needs to change really. Eh...or they could do something else really.
Granted, Blitzo and Stolas are *not* "Childhood Friends to Lovers", they’re a subversion of it. In the sense that, they technically weren’t friends. They met for one day and during that day Blitzo used Stolas to rob the palace. Plus, to call what they currently have as “lovers” is a stretch.
Yeah But it's clear the reason why Vivz decided to make them know each other from childhood is to create a more innocent and heart melting feels to the ship (I mean, they made child Stolas crushing on Blitz from the start). Sure, they are not childhood friends turned to lover as like in anime, but it's clear that's what Vivz was going for. And for them now, sorry to break it to you, they are a couple. Vivz made twits of how much she love them together and hoe cute they are.
It’s not really subversive since Blitzo was still written to enjoy his time with Stolas. I honestly wished they leaned into Blitzo being a bad kid rather than being manipulated by his dad into stealing.
@alilishaa8824 they are not cute together. It is not cute that stolas holds all thr power in the relationship. It is not cute that stolas cares more about blitzo than his own daughter. It is not cute that stolas constantly make blitzo uncomfortable and when blitzo says something stolas acts like it's a game. It is not cute that blitzo sees himself chained to stolas. The ship is not cute
@@Birdyboys whej i was a child in would play with other kids and I enjoyed that time, but I never saw them again, therefore we weren't friends, i just enjoyed playing because I was a child.
I still think hell was used as a setting to excuse alot of the actions taken when it would have bin more creative and less confusing to use an afterlife not hell
This whole realationship sucks. It’s just Fanfiction now and it’s not even good the antagonists suck cause they are only played for laughs instead of actual Villians, we have episodes about Fizz and all these random ass clowns while ignoring the main cast completely- why is the focus on these two? There is no natural progression in there realationship. Name 5 things they have in common outside of their corny fanfic meeting when they were children. I’ll wait.
18:09 the fact stolas would either take the risk of lending the grimoire out shows how bad of a father he is. He knows how illegal and dangerous it is (he says so in murder family and truth seekers). If stolas gets caught he will lose the ability to provide Via with a home. And, if he gets in trouble, Via will have her life ruined by becoming the new ‘prince.’ The book is her inheritance and he doesn’t care to keep it safe as much as he cares about playing with Blitzø.
Its so frustrating to me, specially because I liked season one Stolas. He was a horrible people, but was insteresting enough as a character. He was not a good father in Loo Loo Land, but seemed to love his daughter. Love alone doesnt make you a good parent, but it adds nuance to a character. With everything in Ozzie's (his loneliness, how he seemed to want a actual emocional connection but clearly had no idea how to reach that, the way Blitz rightfully calls him out and his reaction) I naivelly tought "oh, they're setting him up for a redemption arc. You know what, why not?" Then Season Two, right from the first episode, hits me with "actually, he doesnt need a redemption arc because hes not a bad person. Hes such a soft baby with a trágico backstory and he just misunderstood the situation. Hes such a cute owl, look how cute he was, also his wife is so mean to him. He doesnt have to redeem himself or make amends because hes did nothing wrong" Not saying is bad writing to give him a tragic backstory, but the way it was placed feels less like "this is how Stolas became the person he is" and more like "we decided Stolas is our favorite boy now, so you better start liking him"
FOR GOD, SOMEONE FINALLY SAID IT! Stolas was an ok character, but he plummeted very quickly and deeply, it's really annoying that they try to make you believe that he is a decent father and a poor prince who has things happen to him that he "doesn't" deserve, When more than half of the things that happen to Stolas are his own fault, AND THE WORST THING IS THAT HE LEARNS NOTHING. Stolas has 3 labels: Being in love with Blitzø, Being Octavia's father, Being Stella's ex-husband and she wants to kill him. How is his relationship with Blitzø going? TERRIBLE, Stolas screwed up in starting the relationship with sex and not with feelings, yes, Blitzø is hiding that he is in love with Stolas but because Stolas made him hide his feelings, for making their relationship based on ONLY sex and showing his true feelings when it was too late to show them. And yet they blame Blitzø for not confessing when Stolas made him believe that their relationship was just sex and that there was NOTHING between them. How's it going as a father figure for Octavia? Very bad, he tries to be a good father but at the same time no, he gives more priority to Blitzø than to Via, And if not, can you explain to me why Stolas is supporting Blitzø in his show instead of looking for Via, who is lost in a world of strangers with a high probability that they will do something bad to her? oh yes, he has limited powers when Via is in danger in the human world but not when Blitzø is in danger in the human world, AND THE WORST THING IS THAT THE ONE WHO HAS TO LEARN IS OCTAVIA AND NOT STOLAS!, woah, father of the year. The only thing that is not his fault is that Stella wants to kill him, and that's it, nothing more. he cheated on her but Stella took it to the extreme, did she deserve it? Yes, that's all, nothing more to say about that situation, but yes, it's horrible to see how they take Stella as a joke. Stolas was fine, but with all that melancholy they gave him, he became unbearable, A lot of people say "Stella is ruined, they ruined Striker and Moxxie" when the real ruined character is Stolas, He has potential but they don't use it and they leave him like a little princess who only waits for her prince charming to live happily without worries and does nothing to make it happen. I hope that they improve Stolas, that they stop victimizing him, even though I know that will never happen. (Sorry for my bad English, I'm not an English speaker and I'm still learning)
Stolas wasn't just ruined, he ruined the entire show, we have three episodes with I.M.P doing her job while most of the others are related to the midlife crisis drama of Stolas
15:48 Octavia is 17??? That makes her ship with Lonna disgusting because Lonna is in her 20’s!!! Viv stated she was 23 around there but I can’t wait for her to retcon this just to add another unnecessary ship into the show because the fans ship it 🥶
and if Blitzo and Stolas are somehow now like becoming a couple then eventually married, that'd be considered incest if Stolas gets custody over Octavia.
I wish we got to see stolas and stella interact before they got married. Maybe stella had real feelings for stolas at first, but stolas kept pushing her away and never gave her a chance to get close to him. We could of seen her slowly hated him more and more over the span of 25 years.
It's too complex for Vivziepop's little brain, she prefers makes Stella an 1 dimensional character who's bad since the beginning just to make Stolas looks better because he's her favorite character
@analaurafragahernandez7526 Did hanging out in this chernobyl fandom turned your brain to ooze? When did I said I should be in charge of her work? I just made a critical comment of a media on the Internet, if you disagree with me, I don't care
Stolas being a trash parent every true, while he is trying, he isn't trying hard enough. But what about Stella? Is she a terrible parent? Is her narcissism affecting her relationship with Octavia as well? Is she a better parent than Stolas? We will never know. And this is why I want to see Octavia and Stella's relationship (if they have one) and if Stella is worse of a parent than Stolas. Stolas said the Seeing Stars while arguing w/ Stella, "No! Im not turning her against you!" Meaning that there is relationship, somewhere. Too bad, Helluva is gonna be male centered, Viv herself said it on twitter, and I dont think we are ever gonna see it or at least have them be in the same environment like few times.
Even if Stolas does loves Octavia, it's very clear he loves Blitz more. It's been twice now Stolas has completely forgotten about his own daughter in favor of someone who's clearly only using him for his own gain. If this is Stolas trying, than he's not trying nearly as hard as he should be, but at this point, I'm hoping Octavia ditches him completely.
@@connordalton7316 Agreed. Octavia shouldn't have to put up with piece of shit parents. She's better off being either an orphan or some other adults that could actually care for her.
@akilelawless8460 They are both selfish for different reasons, but the show is most likely not going to address that and instead dumb it down to "Stolas good, Stella bad". The show is going to have Octavia "learn" that she has to put up with her lazy father because he's been through a lot or something, which I shouldn't have to tell you is absolutely not the case.
@connordalton7316 He's had a shitty father. Boo hoo. Who the Hell hasn't? Why would he put an imp over his own daughter? Because he's known Blitzø since they were kids? That's not an excuse. Vivzie doesn't wanna address why Stella acts like this, but instead just have her be a straight up bitch and then have the fans feel bad for Stolas all because he's being treated like shit. Lmao.
Someone should count how many episodes have been about the actual plot which is imps hunting and killing humans. And how many are a mellow drama that has nothing to do with the original plot
@@ronaldmacjokerfeliz2669 Also for assassines, man they are sloppy, in all three of those episodes they don't wear disguises (Also add Spring Broken, and Seeing Stars for that) kill multiple people who aren't the target, and the trail of destruction they leave, it's a bit surprising that D.O.R.K.S. aren't respected, like a Oprea, a Film Studio, and a whole Beach full of people were killed
@@nickrustyson8124Also let's not ignore that the people they kill probably go to hell and sinners in general are apparently above Imps in terms of power, which wouldn't be a problem considering sinners are trapped in the pride ring for some damn reason...but their headquarters is literally in the pride ring, they are literally exposed in the most impossibly way possible to beings who may want revenge against them
@@ronaldmacjokerfeliz2669 Though that would make a great episode, all of the people they killed come back (Aside for the Murder Family, I think they would be happy in Hell, probably even giving them a phone call thanking them) plus Sinners can't die, so we get to see the suffering that mainly Millie can cause
@@nickrustyson8124I think the fact that sinners can't be killed by non-angelic weapons is what makes this idiotic situation almost impossible to believe, obviously we don't have details on how this immortality of sinners works, but either way the group is just creating enemies they can't vanquish, even if Millie is the best warrior of them all when the script calls for it, she can't fight forever without starting to get tired, their only hope in that case would be Stolas and with the current situation of Blitzo and Stolas in the series I wouldn't say they can count on too much his protection
If stolas had to be a flawed father, I feel like it would have been interesting to see him be an overbearing and overprotective parent to Octavia. Like with his upbringing he *knows* that neglecting a child is bad but other than they he doesn't really know what a good father looks like he just knows how to not be the same flavor of shitty as his own dad. From here you can have one of Stolas' big flaws as a parent be that he doesn't see Octavia for the almost adult that she is. You can have him trying to and failing miserably at trying to hide the divorce from Octavia, who blatantly knows that her parents are splitting up because she's not 5. Octavia can be a badass at casting spells but have Stolas be blind to her power cause he infantilizes her. Or have it so Octavia does struggle a lot to learn spells but Stolas just brushes off her struggles with "oh don't worry about it sweety you have plenty of time to learn" and then boom Octavia is now almost 18 and is still stuck on the basics. I'll stop my fanfic here lol i just think that giving Stolas these parental flaws would have sold the whole "not perfect but he's trying/means well" instead of having him retread the same mistakes as his father only it's better when Stolas does it because Stolas is there in person lolol
This idea is amazing and I really do think a more concise and longer storyline for octavia and stolas would have been PERFECT considering how the show hyped their relationship within literally the second episode of the show (like got dahm couldnt even give millie or loona a chance before going for that bird ass, writers?) It could also connect with the current timeline that we have for the episodes, with octavia maybe trying to use the book during her walk around LA and messing stuff up while still learning, which could also open some lore building around the uses of it! it could make the talk between loona and octavia more real because it could be painted as octavia TRYING to like her father with the book by taking royal duties but being overshadowed by his infantilization of her + the need to hide away the divorce, making her feel like that he's just trying to lock her in a soft and comfy confided spot when she just wants a stable relatonship. or even try to pull herself AWAY from that family, like with the royal family in england and prince harry (I know that is one of the most weirdest times to bring up the royal family but plz see what im getting at here)
Stolas is definitely flawed but he's not iredeemable. He tries to do right by his kid and given how shitty his life is him desiring Blitzo is understandable. I think it's pretty clear both are going to admit fault in the end.
There's also a little Fact about Stella and Octavia's Relationship it's hinted out in there talk,an example when Stolas was arguing with Stella in the Phone Call, you can hear Stolas out right saying that he's not turning Octavia Against Stella... Implying that she clearly has a hint of care for Her own Daughter but then Stolas and Stella Have the Final Straw argument,He downright Said that Stella and Octavia goes out on weekends....*Together*...and at the part where Stolas was completely Alone in the Mansion ... not even Octavia was around, this could really Imply That Octavia may have at least to a degree have a healthy relationship with his Mother Hell,She literally Left *With* Stella, leaving Stolas in the Mansion I'm not here to defend any of the Characters except Octavia since the poor girl is a victim of her own parents Abuse and recklessness I have a perspective idea that although Octavia Loves her Dad,she has the same feeling of seeing Stolas for being at fault for the downfall of there Family's relationship,He cheated, that's not just betraying Stella it's also a Betrayal to Octavia Herself, during the kitchen Stella was throwing a fit out of outrage and Octavia gave thesame angst treatment after finding out about her own Father's Infidelity which is to her was the cause of her Mother's Aggressive Behavior...let's not forget that in loo loo land Stolas has done nothing worth any support or communication with his own daughter,he just straight up gloss over her in favor of blitz!...the amount of sheer embarrassment and pain that she had to hide her own face in her hat was really saying a lot,and the only time Stolas EVER took notice of Octavia's Discomfort and Depressing State was when *Only* when she started to have a meltdown, sure stolas patch a few tid bit's in there conversation and relationship, but the Sheer scar of it all was done! Octavia gave him chances after chances and in the end she left with her Mother with Stella! Really showing how Fxck up He is that his daughter cant even stay with him since he's although not a bad Father, he's not a Healthy one Either, stolas is so caught up with what he selfishly wants he completely has done nothing to eben keep Octavia Inder his wings Plus this could imply that out of the show,Stella may not entirely be bad at least only to Octavia only, considering the small information that they literally go out and bond outside the show itself , even again going as far as to bring Octavia with Her, really showcasing hoe one dimensional they made Stella out to be in the audiences just to nake Stolas more "Sympathetic" Ot would habe been much better to see both three perspectives of the Family,We already git Stolas what about Stella or better yet Octavia? The only time they ever had any showcases was if it benefits *stolas* Sweet Jesus this was long to write 😅
Also someone in the show needs to ask Stolas the big question: does he love Octavia or Blitzo more? Because if he hesitates or even needs a moment to even think about it, than that alone would show how much of a shitty character and parent he really is.
This is Steven universe all over again, nobody dared to criticize the show unless you wanted a bunch of obsessed Stans to brutally bully you. I'm glad this video exists and I'm hoping for a bunch of critical videos like what happened with SU when people finally decided to open up about it.
The way i see it. While Stolas definitely does love Via, she could be a reminder at the fact he was forced to marry Stella. Which would kinda make sense? I do agree he's not a good dad though. Especially compared to Blitz. Also, About the fact he said his powers were limited. I think he meant in the human world. So, in episode 6 when he possessed those agents. He did that from Hell. I'm probably overthinking it 😅
Either way about his powers was made unclear, aside from stating that his powers are limited without his book which has been a contradiction since season 1. Octavia knowing that her parents were forced together isn’t something of her concern as their child since she was the needed results of their marriage. If anything Via would feel worse and blame herself for why her family are a mess is because of her needing to exist.
@analaurafragahernandez7526Dude you need to stop commenting, nobody talking about this is saying Stella is not a bad person, you seriously don't even know what Arranged Marriages are.
I've seen people cry over Stolitz, and I did too- until I realized how fucking HORRIBLE he is. I agree w u. (i'm sorry this is going to be a rant) He's one of those characters that are the before/after archetype. By this I mean before being cold, strict, proper, and couth and the after being you as the audience watch as they slowly, _thankfully_ start to chip away at that exterior. A step in the right direction would've been letting Stolas be himself, his "before" self, and then show as he begins to spiral into a toxic relationship with Blitzø. Another thing that could've made Stolas great was actually shining light on the toxic traits he has while also not being a sob story for him. He's manipulative, needy, abusive, and frankly, naïve. Showing how this affects both parties really could've been fantastic- but no, we HAVE to have the tragic story. Tragedy, from a quote somewhere from someone, is far more powerful when the character is actively trying _not_ to cry. So when they do cry, when they do let themselves feel bad, when they do show you that vulnerability, it's more meaningful. (Like Sister Beatrice from Warrior Nun). Seeing a selfless character, or at least, someone who doesn't let themself feel for the sake of either work or another person, is going to earn the audience's affection because the most basic trait for a hero is selflessness. Some heroes, like Don Draper from Mad Men- are more like anti-heroes, where they're driven by selfishness. Heroes can come from many different origins, but the main three are as such: 1. relatability (the audience sees themselves in them) 2. pedestal (the audience wants to be like them) 3. curiosity (the audience wants to know more about them) Stolas has none of that. He's not relatable because he doesn't take responsibility for his own actions. He's certainly not someone people want to look up to, and we're consistently reminded of literally everything about him. In short, I am SO FUCKING DONE with seeing this bird boy sob his eyes out over the consequences of his actions while feeling bad about himself. Stolas, in all essentiality, is built like an antagonist at this point in the story rather than the anti-hero he is meant to be.
It's really hard to feel any sympathy for Stolas. Yes, Stella wants to kill Stolas but that doesn't change the fact that he cheated on her, has abandoned his daughter to flirt with Blizto, and has been using his special grimoire so he can use it as a means to get sex. At the same time, Stolas has gone from a strong character with powers to a blubbering idiot who doesn't understand relationships. He could have been an interesting character, but now the show is hitting us over the head with how we have to feel bad for him, but he hasn't made any meaningful changes. Octavia is right, he hates Stella more than he loves her.
@@xAntonijaThe_SigmaXx4 i think there was legal reasons to that too like consequences of some sort. Plus i kinda agree it hardly count as cheating since stella already showed she cares more about her reputation than anything.
@@xAntonijaThe_SigmaXx4it’s implied stela wouldnt allow stolas to divorce her, at least at 1st. Cause I’m a flashback episode when he tells her he wants a divorce she talks about how the rest of the goetia will think
I'd also like to say the way they absolutely use the trope in mlm media when the female character (Stella) is the "villan" or the one who "gets in the way", like they set up an interesting character like stella just to downgrade her to "she's just evil" no nunace whatsoever for its female characters
Nononono, it's realistic cause they're in hell and thats how normal people act so of course she's awful, everyone in hell is awful. Just ignore Blitzø, Millie, Moxie, Loona, Octavia, Stolas, Moxie's mom, Millie's parents, Fizz, Asmodeus, Bee, Tex, Barbie, and Verosika.
Octavia is my favorite character and it sucks that she's shackled to Stolas when it comes to her story. Both of her starring episodes tell the exact same plot, but "Seeing Stars" does it worse because it actively undermines any of the good within the episode (that and it should have been only about Octavia and Loona and not shoehorned into two whole subplots for everyone else). To put into perspective how bad it is: I like writing fanfics about Octavia, but I have to actively put her situations away from Stolas so she can, you know, actually develop as a character and not just be "Stolas' daughter." Same with Stella, because that woman deserves to be more than a one-dimensional hate sink of a character. Moral of the story: If the show writers aren't going to put nuance into their characters, then I'll pull a Thanos and do it myself!
I absolutely agree, they are doing our girl dirty beyond belief. (P.S. you wouldn't mind leaning me the links to your works would you. I need more of the cute goth owl... swan hybrid demon.)
@CipherRage-tp5qlThat’s generally fair, but Hazbin Hotel, despite most likely going to have its close similarities to Helluva Boss, I think they can definitely work with some new things so it isn’t just going to be the exact same, with all romance and stuff, and of course drama, I think the writing won’t necessarily be cringe in every case, or jokes, but I guess it’s just whatever the writers end up doing, I just don’t exactly think any show will be perfect but it would seem unrealistic to hate a show for those couple of problems it has, but your obviously entitled to think whatever.
Before watching the video: I pretty much already know why he's a terrible character. His whole life revolves around Blizto and we don't get to see him... Live. Also he says he cares about his daughter but we never get to see him have a relationship with her. All we get to see is him apologising to her. AND he just isn't funny. Thus little detail doesn't make him a terrible character but it kind of ruined him for me in my eyes: the fact that he isn't actually an immortal demon. He's literally just a 30 year old man. That sucks. After watching the video: "So be has his waaays of finding his imp boytoy but not his own fucking daughter." 😅 You're hilarious. I like how you went through this episode by episode.
Nah he isn`t a terrible character and we see him live at times, he is just too clingy really. Yeah we need to see that more too but I disagree he is rather funny. Why does that detail suck? Well yeah....he was not a good or great father at the time lmao.
I wanted Stolas and Blitz to be together, but after what happened in the Apology Tour, I lost all hope for them. Now I want Blitz to have a new love interest, maybe someone who is better than Stolas, someone who is pretty much the opposite of Blitz. Maybe cute and sweet seraphim whose name starts with E.
Maybe Blitzo should go out with someone who doesn’t use him for sex and doesn’t talk down to him. And during that relationship, maybe Blitzo could try a little bit of a better person.
I admit I don't get why Stolas so much of fan favourite. There is nothing about him that stands out. I don't find him interesting. In fact I find him utterly pathetic and self-pitying character. He is to me unintentionally unsympathetic.
@@Noor-sl5ep At least blitzo is SELF AWARE and worst he did was treat verosika the way he did. With stolas he’s a whole ass victim there’s no tip toeing around it. Stolas is not self aware at all which makes him so much worse
Stolas not getting in trouble for giving an Imp a sacred book only for Goetias is so bad and you cant tell me nobody found out how I.M.P. got access to the human world? Because that is something that would destroy his image and would anger his father if he's still alive, this just goes back to these characters not being held accountable for their actions and are immune to many moments in the show.
In the beginning we had a character that in reality was clearly not good, it was more than made clear that Stolas was not a good person, reaching the point that there were some theories of him being a villain (at least here in the fandom of Brazil) but then came the second season and... well, he was now a victim and nothing more, nothing more exemplifies his character than an innocent yayoi fanfic bottom that the world tries to screw at all costs for no reason
Yep, I remember everyone was gushing over Stolas (cause people love their sexy, dominant villain characters) during the time of the pilot and calling him a power bottom. Even some people being attracted to him and inserting their OCs to fuck him. I don't know if I've been missing that, but I haven't seen anyone doing that with soft Stolas.
I hate stolitz and the obsessed shippers, i am not a huge fan of angel dust, i want the female characters to have more screen time instead of being tools for the male characters, i wish Stella was sympathetic , i find stolas to be toxic, ignorent , whiny and overall infuriating
Would love to see that but according to the writers that would put more people on Stella's side, I wish she would have argued still being mad about being cheated on rather than "I love tormenting you l love to see you suffer"
You know it's funny because I have been on a real Helluva Boss kick for the past month, but it's all just fan made stuff like crackships, fanfics, and AUs, I haven't even watched all of the episodes, (Ozzies is the only one I haven't seen, and man I really do not want to watch it, and I made it halfway through the Beelzebub episode, and man the episode order really fucks it up, if that came out in like the end of Season 2, great episode, but it's season 1 and because of legal reasons it had to come out after Seeing Stars, it makes it kinda hard to like) and it's because I find in the official episodes, it's little things like this, because you can tell they're making a linear story but in a episodic way, so you get little things
Helluva Boss got off to an interesting start, but has since wasted a lot of potential. Stolas is now just a Mary Sue whose actions have had barely any real negative consequences on his life. Be it through his relationship with his daughter or his reputation in the Ars Goatia family. The kidnapping by Striker doesn't count, as he was rescued after a short time. In general, the conflicts in the series are resolved far too quickly. The big conflict between Blitz and Fizzaroli is resolved with a one-off "Sorry it was an accident!" conversation. Similarly with Octavia and her fears of abandonment. A quick "Ah, I won't" from her father and she's no longer afraid, seriously? Especially in the second season, the central theme is completely lost and gets lost in subplots like the mammon episode. What is the central conflict of the story? I don't know, everything will be resolved in some episode anyway. Helluva Boss has now reached the level of a morning soap where all the characters degenerate into one-dimensional extras so that the writers can pull some nonsense plot out of their asses because they can't push the show forward any other way. The hell aspect itself has also degenerated into a minor matter. Ultimately, this show will go nowhere.
Yeah Season 1 Stolas, Stella and Octavia REALLY didn't go ANYWHERE, They where the "sub plot" to say the least. Besides that one scene with Octavia, nothing really happened with any of them. Then Season 2 happened, Father Like Son it seems for his Dad Skills go. Stella has been reduced to a 1 note Bitch, who seems to only want Stolas DEAD "cus he cheated", and the only reason he ISN"T is cus of her Brother's Scheming. As for Octavia, well Loona and Via are probably going to end up as BFFs/Sisters. Speaking of Seeing Stars, WHY ARE OCTAVIA AND LOONA ON THE COVER WHEN THEY ARE BEARLY IN THE EPISODE?! That chat between them is the most WHOLESOME seen in the show (besides Loona taking Blitz drunk ass home), again didn't really go anywhere beside cheering her up. Seriously we really need more time with Octavia and Stella, cus so far they just kinda EXIST as plot devices so Stolas can be involved. Like....i don't know, do a girls night out episode where all the Females get together and go raise hell somewhere. (would get Millie away from Moxxie, and Loona and Octavia can hang out again, maybe Stella kidnap's her just to add tension) Admittedly and i quote "this show is about Blitz and his Relationships", oh really? THEN WTF DOES STOLAS'S FAMILY HAVE TO DO WITH HIM?! Not to mention with the introduction of the "Ozmodious Crystals", the SWORD hanging over this shows NECK is gone now. (or at least its now a DULL blade then a sharp one)
@analaurafragahernandez7526Want to know something funny, everytime someone brings up the point that "Its hell" everyone calls it an Excuse for some reason.
If someone tries to justify cheating on your partner, it tells you everything you need to know. People say. "It's fine he cheated, because he was forced into his marriage." And of course now that Stella was made to be the "bad" guy in this situation (and has the laziest fucking writing ever), NOW people even justify it through "Stella is horrible to Stolas!" NO! There IS no justification for what Stolas did. As horrible forced marriage may be and EVEN if i would try to count in how Stella is (now) horrible to him, it doesn't mean cheating is okay. Because in the first place, Stolas now doomed Octavia's reputation. No matter if she actually cares or not about it. A good father ALWAYS has the best in mind for his children. At any given time. Stolas is just as awful to Octavia as people say Stella is. I am not saying that Stella (now) is doing any better than Stolas. But Stella at least didn't try to do anything actual real bad things to Stolas that outright damages Octavia's reputation. And if you wonder why i always say "now" is simple. Stella at first wasn't doing anything bad to Stolas, before Vivzie HAD to make her the big bad evil that is at fault. Which would have been okay to do if we at least KNOW why. WHY is Stella the way she is? But nope. Just a evil character for the sake of being evil. No proper character building. No exploration of what makes her tick and why. Nothing. No. Vivzie actually tries to tell people "Cheating on your partner/spouse is fun and right to do." So. I don't like Stolas. I actually like Stella more. And that still after how awful she has been treated and made me "dislike" her as a character.
I don’t see how stolas cheating is worse then Stella literally a assistant, which I’d argue 1 of the parents killing the other would negatively effect a child more then Just 1 of them cheating
You should read my comment again and understand it properly. I didn't say worse. I said just as bad. And no. You should see how actual royal families killed other members left in right in our history and see what that did to their reputation. Little to no damage. But if some member of their royal family started to cheat and do frivolous activities like that, their reputation took a way worse hit than any "killing" ever could do. And just so you don't forget. I don't say it is worse. Again. JUST AS bad.@@TheBatIsRad6435

@@nohomonohetero7932 He didn`t have a bigger privilege, he was the abuse victim, and she was just a selfish prick. You understand? Stella tried killing her daughter`s father ffs! What do you mean you understand???
@@Jdudec367 I "understand" not I "excuse". Look, I don't care whether you are abused or not but it isn't right to not take accountable for your own actions. Stolize isn't a victim now because he has done terrible things that affect his family and reputation, he was so careless he could only focus on his toy just to feel like he is needed and that's basically his character traits LUSTING. Why should you sympathize with a demon while despising another demon because what? He was abused? That's all? So what if Stella was also forced in an arranged marriage is she also a victim? So what if these two have done terrible things, why can't you sympathize with both? Is it because you like that one demon that satisfies your fujushi needs? Again, I understand not excuse.
I'm tired of this series trying to make Stolas and Blitz's actions justifiable. Stolas cheated but but but the marriage was arranged and his wife is a massive bitch who may or may not care about her daughter, we don't actually know what their relationship is like since it's not as important as making Stolas look tragic! We can already tell their relationship is poor because if Stella actually cared about Octavia then it would make Stolas look bad. Isn't it precious that Blitz seems to care about Loona, Millie, and Moxxie when everyone in his past hates him? What the hell did Blitz do to make his childhood best friend, woman who loved him to the point of his name being her only tattoo, and his twin sister leaving rehab and not telling him, actively hate him when he's in their presence? A big problem I have with the show is the lack of plot flow between the main characters. The story turned from "comedic bottom of society imps running a killing business" to "make Stolas and Blitz make the worst decisions ever while trying to make them tramatized and redeemable". I wouldn't mind the spotlight being shared between all the characters if we actually got a better paced story. We already know the next episode (S2E6) is going to be about Fizzarolli. If it doesn't give Stolas and Blitz the opportunity to talk about what happened at Ozzie's, what happened at Ozzie's will have happened LITERALLY HALF THE SERIES AGO and has not been properly addressed. Blitz told Stolas that Stolas acts like their relationship is purely sexual. We as the audience know that that's not true but what does Stolas do? The next time they work together, he hits on him AGAIN! Zero mention of the relationship changing event that happened previously. Somehow in season 2 we've gotten 2 WHOLE EPISODES devoted to yet another "Moxxie needs more support and a self-esteem boost with perfect Millie" in the foreground. I'm realizing this now as I'm typing it out, what exactly has Stolas done to make Blitz feel special/loved? We know Blitz does from his hallucination in S1E6. Would Blitz feel distant attachment to anyone who didn't hate him after 5 minutes of being in his presence? I don't have a problem with this story going the "high society person forces sex on lower society person and lower society person likes it" thing but don't push this relationship as anything but toxic. Sorry for the novel. I like this series but it's a flawed mess. There are so many people who will die on the hill of defending this series.
@analaurafragahernandez7526 "Loves to do courage with a series with fictional characters?" What does this even mean? I can watch and enjoy a series and still give criticism.

Alastor actually was part of a thing or I think that with Mimzie but even if he stays Asexual or gets in a relationship, I trust A24 will have actually good writers because they had issues with Viv & her writing.
@CipherRage-tp5ql there's nothing wrong with being young at heart, I'm just saying there's TOO much sexual theming in Helluva, and the characters have potential to be more interesting with more personality
Tru, it’s a damn shame the Bryce Pinkham along with every voice actor, musician, and animator for Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel, have had their talents thoroughly wasted, and it boils my blood to no end. If I wasn’t swamped with college and my own original works, I would rewrite Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss (Season 2)
I don't like when they glorify and soften up characters to begin with, but the fact that they chose the character who sexually coerced someone of a lower class than him literally makes me sick. And the fact that it's not even the most talked about issue about stolitz makes me even more sick.
Very good video. Can’t wait for the hate comments here and on twitter of fans saying that’s the point and he’s SUPPOSED to be bad, missing the point of your criticism entirely lol. Stay safe. ❤️
I mean yeah Stolas is a shitty character and it's gonna stay that way lol but tbh Blitz and (Stolas'??) Dad completely tied into ruining his entire character imo💀
Except he's not supposed to be, Season 1 has us seeing him make mistakes and shows flaws up to Episode 7 of S1 but Season 2 had to destroy that growth and showing of humility for actions, I don't like the writing for Season 2 because it did destroy that.
Stolas was one of my fav complex characters in season 1. Season 2 however has made me DREAD when he was on screen, cause I knew it would be the Stolas Pitty Party. They gasslight us i to thinking Stolas is 😇👼Stella is 👹👺 Oh what a neuonce!!!
It honestly pisses me off how horribly they handled Stolas as a character I love the idea of a character ultimately ruining and ignoring their life to fawn over/hang out with some guy they're absolutely infatuated with, I relate to that concept alot. I can't say I've gotten married, had a child, and cheated on my spouse for a man I coerced into sex via my position in power, but still. I would've loved to see Stolas take a step back, and remember he has a whole ass daughter, and a job to do as a member of the Goetia family. He has so much more to his life than Blitzo, and actively chooses to ignore that nearly every minute he's on-screen. At the very least, the writers should offer some consequences (or even just warnings???) for his negligence towards his entire life. I guess being assassinated is a hell of a consequences, though. That being said: Pop off, Stella!
Season 2 is half way through and we already see the consequences building up. Just be patient. Stella and her brother plotting revenge. Octavia will likely also get more screen time - possibly even opposing stolas. But i very much hope the show will not be about the political consequences of his actions. I leave hells politics to hazbin hotel.
I think one of the big problems of season 2 episode 1 wasn't mentioned. The scene with Stolas and Blitzo isn't a paradigm shift. It's not a shift in perspective, it's a direct contradiction to season 1. Now, I know the pilot isn't canon. But the scene of Stolas and Blitzo in bed probably still happened. If it didn't then Ozzie's doesn't make sense. Either Stolas is using Blitzo like in the pilot which would be consistent with Ozzie's and the entirety of season 1. Or Blitzo was the one who is using Stolas which is just a retcon and makes season 1 messier than it already was.
@@jyjaeskz Facts. „This unspoken contract, a deed we forged for mutual gain“ Thats what stolas sang, and even though its fanfic (which was adapted though) its still true.

@ArteiceTB I just hope what I'm trying to say doesnt sound very vague. I was going to mention as to why I don't like him anymore, how Ive felt about his role and importance throughout the show, and what I think he possibly could be written as based on what he's done, but you've explained it much better than I could have, hah-
The only good father in this show is Millie's dad Joe, his only sin is that he think Moxxie is a wimp, and... I mean it's wrong to say it, but he is right. Honestly if they want to focus more on the M&Ms I'm all for it, because the Blitzo and Stolas stuff is wellll... and in another comment thread focusing on the assassination is going to bite them in the ass
Yeab I was like you until I analyzed it better. I would have prefered he and Blitz haf this toxic dynamic, gut gets in casual sex and attaches feelings but doesn't realive the other part is just using him. That would have been more interesting. Adding he was driven to this because the doméstica abuse he had.
What i hate is that when they splited up he acted like he was so innocent when he put blitzø into a non-healthy relationship when he is the one not to blame, he has got sexually harassed and used as a toy, but the exuse of being a depressed owl with a not so good wife doesn't explain why you had to sexually do stuff to blitzø even if they met as kids THAT WAS FÜCKING 25 YEARS AGO....blitz barely even remembers him and stolas goes on about..bed and stuff
Honestly, I watched a Matt Groening (why is his humor slightly better than Viv) show called "Disenchantment" and that show is 10000x better than HB and what is it with portraying royals as these weaklings who are dramatic and want life to be a fairytale where are the realistic aristocrats who plunder the poor/abuse their citizens? On the topic of Disenchantment, it's a lot more fun to watch a rebel princess headbutt a knight (Part 5 she gets with a mermaid and it's a good romance that's also good to watch) trying to court her then watch an owl dramatically singing about how "horrible" his life was and victim-blaming a lowerclass man...
The biggest problem with stolas is just that the writers don't allow him to do bad things on his own, like they often blame other characters or give him a tragic flashback to justify. Like he cheated on Stella? Well she actually never cared about him (even tho Octavia said they once lived happy), and is a irremediable b1tch with no nuance who just wants to torment him, he was blackmailing Blitz? Well actually they were childhood friends and he feel in love and Blitz was the one who took advantage of him etc. It makes his character feel flat, and ironically more unlikablesince he lost a lot of his core traits to support this more "sympathetic" writing choice. Lot of his sympathetic moments tend to create more problems and weird flawsa to his character instead of "fixing" As you mentioned he still a awful father to Octavia and barely shows any care for her, like on his " lasts moments " the only thing he could talk about is blitz, on the music video the only thing he sings about is blitz, like im supposed to believe that he wouldn't leave his daughter to stay with Blitz lol In short it feels like they out of nowhere, decided to make Stolas this "uwu can't do wrong , who tends to get misunderstood by others" , instead of a more nuanced character
@@HarmonelEllisS. Stolas has gotten more than enough focus for people to make a judgement about his character. "It could get better" is a terrible excuse.
my biggest problem w him is that he’s just soooo boring. He was so much more mysterious and morally grey in early season one and so he was so much more interesting, but now he’s been completely uwu soft boy-ified and made completely flat in the writers’ attempt to make him, like, o don’t know, morally correct? to ‘redeem’ him or something abd basically wash away any bad traits or deeds (cheating, shitty parenting, racism, disregard for blitzo’s feelings, etc.) It’s why i HATE circus SO MUCH, because it’s really the episode that completely ruined Stolas for me.
I see all these comments of people’s defending Stolas and bashing on blitz (and it’s super annoying) Can we normalize that Stolas is just as much to blame as Blitz is, because apparently people have just forgotten what happened in the first episode of the show. Nether Blitz or Stolas is innocent in their situation, the miscommunication is on both ends and the writers have forgotten their own characters and write Blitz as the one who was toxic when Stolas is just as bad for it. Each character needs to be held accountable for it, not just Blitz. Retconning your story to make fans feel sorry for one character and making the other bad isn’t good writing, it maybe intentionally done, but it doesn’t make it any less annoying. Stolas acting as if he’s never mistreated Blitz or treating as lower class ( when he’s done this many times) honestly I hope the showrunners give Stolas a reality check and allow for his character to take accountability will be the thing to make this whole messy drama better. I just want them to heal and hopefully they get that.
I feel like the more we focused on the Stolas drama the more we lost original premise of the show and it became more fanfic in nature. It felt like Viv changed her tune about the story she wanted to tell by Season 2 and made unnecessary and unwanted changes so her ship could sail at the expense of the writing
I literally hate stolitz and this is one of the reasons. Like a lot of people are head over heals in love with it and I really just don’t get the appeal. It feels forced and is constantly in your face. It’s making me lose interest in the show slowly. I don’t want to voice my opinion on the ship too much cause I feel like I’d just be attacked or something.
@CipherRage-tp5ql THANK YOU! I'm not homophobic but I can't stand Stolitz because that ship became so toxic due to both of them hurting so many people.
@PixelNero IKR. If you said this to the die-hard fans, a swarm would come after you instantly, but I agree. Why are people praising this ship so much? Both of them have people who hate them so much.
@CipherRage-tp5ql Agree on the forced part. I have no idea how the fuck Blitzø has feelings for Stolas. The way he describes their relationship, along with how Stolas talked to and treated him, you would rightly assume he hates that owl's guts. He has every reason to.
Thank you for making this video. I've always felt uncomfortable with Stolas and the way the show treats him, because of how similar he is to my own dad. Making a character that cheats on their partner or doesn't treat their kid well is alright, but you have to acknowledge that these are actually problems, and give them a ton of character growth if you want the audience to like them after all that. Also, can I just say that the way the story treats Stella is absolutely disgusting? She was cheated on and publicly humiliated, but everyone treats her like she's an annoying b*tch for being upset with Stolas. Even her own brother calls her "a stupid cow", and your supposed to laugh at him saying that because it's Stella, it's not like she deserves any compassion! This show treats women like trash, all while praising the most garbage men.
😡 EXACTLY The way the show is treating Stella is really disgusting and actually very sexiest she's the angry woman trope wich vilfy women who are angry with being treated unfairly and mocks female rage, also the show act as if stolas is the one powerless in their mirrage when in reality Stella is the one truly powerless, her only purpose is to predouce him an heir and she doesn't have any royal duties that we know of so essentially she's just a trophy and a baby maker for stolas yet this aspect is completely forgotten .

Im late to this party, but i just wanna say that I was sexually exploited by someone like stolas. They were a huge nymphomaniac and in a VERY abusive relationship with her girlfriend. She'd even talk about their fantasies openly with me and wanting to roleplay them constantly with me always having to take charge, I tried to ghost them to get the message across that i didnt want to do anything, but they never got the hint and kept pressing for more. Stolas isnt a bad character for being a bad person, but it sickens me the writers are trying to take the sympathetic, "boohoo i had such a terrible hand in life feel bad for me" route. Blitz isn't any better, but he's still a victim. That being said, if they make Stolitz canon, I'm dropping Vivsie and the show. I can't deal with a relationship I've lived being romanticised.
@ArteiceTB Thanks. This was years ago and I'm safe now, but the realization of Stolitz being similar to my trauma and people shipping Stolitz doesn't really help lmao
Geez...I am so so sorry you went through something like that, I hope things are better now though. @@ArteiceTB How horrible is your video, you seem like a typical hater of a fictional character, searching, searching, for all the errors of a character, that's fine, but the way you say it, saying... asking stupid questions, you seem like an insufferable Stolas hater.
Something that I felt hasn’t been considered is that Stolas barely shows any affection towards Octavia because he never wanted her. I mean think about it. It was an arranged marriage entirely designed for an heir. He never wanted the marriage, why would he want the child that comes with it? Him only being a good dad when Octavia is angry also makes some sense here, because he’s just bull shiting to ensure that she doesn’t also leave. Once that’s done, she no longer matters, until it happens again, and when he fixes it she fades out of the picture *again.* When he got angry at Striker for bringing up Octavia, that was probably just him trying to convince himself that he’s still a good person, and that he still cares about someone other than Blitzø. This is all just speculation, but until we have more info, it’s my personal explanation of his actions. (None of this is bringing up the fact that he had a pretty fucked up childhood and doesn’t know what it should actually look like.)

Viv does let ships develop naturally?

Based on Stolas' actions, are we REALLY sure he would have chosen Octavia?
Funnily enough, in S2 E2, Stolas LITERALLY still chooses Blitz over Octavia. He CHOSE to stay at the film set and said “hurry up so we can go and find Via” when not even five minutes earlier he was stressing about running out of time to find her. He could have chosen to bail on Blitz to go and look for her himself, but he chose not to
The show keeps trying to tell us that Stolas is a good father, but he’s actually incredibly neglectful and isn’t pulled up on it outside of “my dad loves him more than me/hates my mum more than he loves me”, which has been the repeated theme with the two of them so far
It’s no wonder Stolas got upset at Blitz for not choosing him over Loona, because if the roles were reversed, Stolas would have chosen Blitz, and he’s upset that Blitz didnt make the choice that *he* would have made
I bet you 100$ bucks if blitz was held kidnapped, and Octavia had to take a shot , stolas would 100% leave his OWN blood alone and go to find blitz.

Especially since Helluva Boss has faced a lot of criticism for how badly it writes female characters.
it’s a repetitive thing with viv too, writing the male characters to be more sympathetic than the female characters, it’s weird
I don't get why she can't write a compelling story from a female character's perspective. Genuinely, in this show, the only arc a woman had (I believe) is Loona learning to like her dad. Then the character progression backtracked by having her hit him for laughs. Lmao
I always thought this! Stella is basically the “obstacle” between the Stolas / Blitz ship and as such she’s demonised as both a wife and mother.
@@ongod9225 Then explain why she writes Octavia, Loona, and Verosika with some sympathy then?

God i hate the writing in the show 🤦♂️
Octavia is the REAL Charlie with daddy issues.
Octiva did not need to forgive stolas in season 2 episode 2
She did though. Because he is her dad. But at some point every barrel is filled - and i am pretty sure we will see that happen in this season.
(Also there are 2 more seasons to come)
Octavia deserved a better family than her neglectful dad and stuck ip mother. Maybe she should start working for IMP and be Loona’s roommate.
I’m so sorry you had to go through that. And that the show had the nerve to glorify it
I am sorry for the abuse you went through.
Its too focused on Wattpad tropes to dive deeper

Tbh, if they wanna make the women bad, they need to show why they are bad. It can be for power or maybe tramua.
Also the amount of fans trying to defend him is....concerning.
@AS_IETSIST for real, especially the more recent episodes. People are still trying to say stolas was not in the wrong(both were wrong)
Tbh, I thought Stella was just a b**** to begin with, and that's why he didn't wanna be with her when he was younger

He sold his life for a thrust. That is, indeed, the spirit of lust.
Dude was stuck in an abusive marriage for years, never had a choice in life
And when a little freedom showed itself he took it
Things are not so black and white as you make them out to be
Theres a lot behind his character and why he did things
He messed up a lot but he has a chance now to learn and grow

Also Stolitz always felt like diet Angel/Val to me. I’m sure if Valentino had a tragic backstory, he’d be getting the same treatment as Stolas while Angel dust is antagonized in some way.
For real!!
I've seen people like make comic dubs from their art and it might some up about him I guess
Moxxie also feels like Angel Dust with mob fight

Agreed.

@@Balls2DThan why was it advertised as a show about imp assassins killing humans? Why do we all the sudden get these drama and shipping?
So that’s why this was all off…
Shit I have characters like that, you know what the first thing I do when writing them, making sure most of the characters hate them for it and dread being near them
Completely agree, if there was more nuance around the situation maybe I could see why, maybe, but that requires super complex writing that Viv and her team just do not have.
Stolas genuinely cares but he's too gullible to accept that it's a one way reciprocation.
them having met as kids was so stupid
That is still bad writing
@@dragonempress8367 How is it bad writing? We're in a fucked up world with fucked up morals.

I mean no, he has been called out too including in full moon.
I mean...both Stolas and Blitz are villians then by that logic. They really didn't ruin either characters, and Stella really? She is way worse honestly.
You actually ask relevant questions that the show itself cannot answer ( Or doesn't want to answer), unlike the fans that answer with just
"Oh, you're just being a hater because you're jealous of Viv!" Or " She deals with a lot! stop criticizing her! WAHHHHH!"
and while I do like the show and some of the character's, I do agree that the story and morality, and character development is VERY INCONSISTANT! and it's annoying AF!!
I completely agree. I have nothing else to add because you explained it perfectly.

Yeah
But it's clear the reason why Vivz decided to make them know each other from childhood is to create a more innocent and heart melting feels to the ship (I mean, they made child Stolas crushing on Blitz from the start).
Sure, they are not childhood friends turned to lover as like in anime, but it's clear that's what Vivz was going for.
And for them now, sorry to break it to you, they are a couple. Vivz made twits of how much she love them together and hoe cute they are.

Finally, somebody talking about how terrible Stolas actually is
YES IKR
You know what, why not?"
Then Season Two, right from the first episode, hits me with "actually, he doesnt need a redemption arc because hes not a bad person. Hes such a soft baby with a trágico backstory and he just misunderstood the situation. Hes such a cute owl, look how cute he was, also his wife is so mean to him. He doesnt have to redeem himself or make amends because hes did nothing wrong"
Not saying is bad writing to give him a tragic backstory, but the way it was placed feels less like "this is how Stolas became the person he is" and more like "we decided Stolas is our favorite boy now, so you better start liking him"
EXACTLY!
(Sorry for my bad English, I'm not an English speaker and I'm still learning)

and if Blitzo and Stolas are somehow now like becoming a couple then eventually married, that'd be considered incest if Stolas gets custody over Octavia.
I think that Octavia should move out from her parents and move in with Loona. And she’ll be a new employee for IMP.
I wish we got to see stolas and stella interact before they got married. Maybe stella had real feelings for stolas at first, but stolas kept pushing her away and never gave her a chance to get close to him. We could of seen her slowly hated him more and more over the span of 25 years.

@@AniabelLarkThis makes no sense
I wouldn't bet on seeing Octavia's relationship with her mother and neither on it being a good relationship
If we ignore the pilot episode we only have three, with the third on top of that not exactly having it as the main plot, just sort of context
THANK GOD SOMEONE WHO DOESNT JUST GO “oh stolas is an uwu innocent boy and blitz is an awful person “
You really opened my eyes here. I tried to justify the weird choices in my head, but you are right.
I actually prefer this much better then what the show is doing.
This idea is amazing and I really do think a more concise and longer storyline for octavia and stolas would have been PERFECT considering how the show hyped their relationship within literally the second episode of the show (like got dahm couldnt even give millie or loona a chance before going for that bird ass, writers?)
It could also connect with the current timeline that we have for the episodes, with octavia maybe trying to use the book during her walk around LA and messing stuff up while still learning, which could also open some lore building around the uses of it!
it could make the talk between loona and octavia more real because it could be painted as octavia TRYING to like her father with the book by taking royal duties but being overshadowed by his infantilization of her + the need to hide away the divorce, making her feel like that he's just trying to lock her in a soft and comfy confided spot when she just wants a stable relatonship. or even try to pull herself AWAY from that family, like with the royal family in england and prince harry (I know that is one of the most weirdest times to bring up the royal family but plz see what im getting at here)
This would be a great parallel to Blitzo, who is the opposite with Loona
Know what, that would be fuckin amazing
Stolas is definitely flawed but he's not iredeemable. He tries to do right by his kid and given how shitty his life is him desiring Blitzo is understandable. I think it's pretty clear both are going to admit fault in the end.
There's also a little Fact about Stella and Octavia's Relationship
it's hinted out in there talk,an example when Stolas was arguing with Stella in the Phone Call, you can hear Stolas out right saying that he's not turning Octavia Against Stella... Implying that she clearly has a hint of care for Her own Daughter
but then Stolas and Stella Have the Final Straw argument,He downright Said that Stella and Octavia goes out on weekends....*Together*...and at the part where Stolas was completely Alone in the Mansion ... not even Octavia was around, this could really Imply That Octavia may have at least to a degree have a healthy relationship with his Mother Hell,She literally Left *With* Stella, leaving Stolas in the Mansion
I'm not here to defend any of the Characters except Octavia since the poor girl is a victim of her own parents Abuse and recklessness
I have a perspective idea that although Octavia Loves her Dad,she has the same feeling of seeing Stolas for being at fault for the downfall of there Family's relationship,He cheated, that's not just betraying Stella it's also a Betrayal to Octavia Herself, during the kitchen Stella was throwing a fit out of outrage and Octavia gave thesame angst treatment after finding out about her own Father's Infidelity which is to her was the cause of her Mother's Aggressive Behavior...let's not forget that in loo loo land Stolas has done nothing worth any support or communication with his own daughter,he just straight up gloss over her in favor of blitz!...the amount of sheer embarrassment and pain that she had to hide her own face in her hat was really saying a lot,and the only time Stolas EVER took notice of Octavia's Discomfort and Depressing State was when *Only* when she started to have a meltdown, sure stolas patch a few tid bit's in there conversation and relationship, but the Sheer scar of it all was done! Octavia gave him chances after chances and in the end she left with her Mother with Stella! Really showing how Fxck up He is that his daughter cant even stay with him since he's although not a bad Father, he's not a Healthy one Either, stolas is so caught up with what he selfishly wants he completely has done nothing to eben keep Octavia Inder his wings
Plus this could imply that out of the show,Stella may not entirely be bad at least only to Octavia only, considering the small information that they literally go out and bond outside the show itself , even again going as far as to bring Octavia with Her, really showcasing hoe one dimensional they made Stella out to be in the audiences just to nake Stolas more "Sympathetic"
Ot would habe been much better to see both three perspectives of the Family,We already git Stolas what about Stella or better yet Octavia? The only time they ever had any showcases was if it benefits *stolas*
Sweet Jesus this was long to write 😅
Also someone in the show needs to ask Stolas the big question: does he love Octavia or Blitzo more? Because if he hesitates or even needs a moment to even think about it, than that alone would show how much of a shitty character and parent he really is.

I've seen people cry over Stolitz, and I did too- until I realized how fucking HORRIBLE he is. I agree w u. (i'm sorry this is going to be a rant)
He's one of those characters that are the before/after archetype.
Heroes can come from many different origins, but the main three are as such:
1. relatability (the audience sees themselves in them)
2. pedestal (the audience wants to be like them)
3. curiosity (the audience wants to know more about them)
Stolas has none of that.
True, very true!

Wow, when you display all the information that have been gathered at this point and display them back to back, Stolas really does suck.
Yeah but I still love him
You know it's funny because I have been on a real Helluva Boss kick for the past month, but it's all just fan made stuff like crackships, fanfics, and AUs, I haven't even watched all of the episodes, (Ozzies is the only one I haven't seen, and man I really do not want to watch it, and I made it halfway through the Beelzebub episode, and man the episode order really fucks it up, if that came out in like the end of Season 2, great episode, but it's season 1 and because of legal reasons it had to come out after Seeing Stars, it makes it kinda hard to like) and it's because I find in the official episodes, it's little things like this, because you can tell they're making a linear story but in a episodic way, so you get little things

And of course now that Stella was made to be the "bad" guy in this situation (and has the laziest fucking writing ever), NOW people even justify it through "Stella is horrible to Stolas!"
NO! There IS no justification for what Stolas did. As horrible forced marriage may be and EVEN if i would try to count in how Stella is (now) horrible to him, it doesn't mean cheating is okay.
Nothing.

For real. This is why Helluva Boss gets hate nowadays. The fandom doesn't know how to handle criticism about a show that's not even perfect.
@analaurafragahernandez7526 "Loves to do courage with a series with fictional characters?" What does this even mean?
I can watch and enjoy a series and still give criticism.

Thank God that Alastor is asexual and is going to be saved from all of this insufferable cringe, lol
He probably won't make these jokes but he certainly won't save himself from them, seriously Angel Dust will probably talk about sex every three seconds
Asexuals still can have romantic feelings though, but not sexual.
@@TOMNICE I know :) I'm just saying that the cringe aspect of Stolas is the overly sexual stuff
This show really became so much of a mellow drama
Best thing about Stolas is his VA
Stay safe. ❤️
Yep. I can see the swarm of them now. Lol.
It honestly pisses me off how horribly they handled Stolas as a character
I love the idea of a character ultimately ruining and ignoring their life to fawn over/hang out with some guy they're absolutely infatuated with, I relate to that concept alot.
I feel like they only tried to make him redeemable after seeing the fandom liked him. It sucks
Is it so impossible to think they could both be using each other to get something they want?

„This unspoken contract, a deed we forged for mutual gain“
Thats what stolas sang, and even though its fanfic (which was adapted though) its still true.
Im glad this is brought up. Cant believe i used to think he was a good character/father, but I've grown and now I can see why many peeps(now incliding me) just really dont like the guy. (Sorry if im just talking about myself a bit- im just glad this is brought up since its starting to irk me that peeps still like stolas as they completely look over the bad things he's done as they only look into the possibly good things he has tried doing. So many thanks-)
Much appreciated and thankfully there's others who are feeling the same way.
@@nickrustyson8124 So true Millie has to save Moxxie in every situation he gets into
Yeab I was like you until I analyzed it better.
Blitzo and stolas should just be friends. Blitzo would work to apologize and repairs the people he hurts. He should get back together with verosika.
I was keeping up with Disenchantment until losing interest around Part 3, but yeah I agree
@@ArteiceTB I watched the whole show and it was great but glad you agree with me
The biggest problem with stolas is just that the writers don't allow him to do bad things on his own, like they often blame other characters or give him a tragic flashback to justify.
Lot of his sympathetic moments tend to create more problems and weird flawsa to his character instead of "fixing"
As you mentioned he still a awful father to Octavia and barely shows any care for her, like on his " lasts moments " the only thing he could talk about is blitz, on the music video the only thing he sings about is blitz, like im supposed to believe that he wouldn't leave his daughter to stay with Blitz lol
In short it feels like they out of nowhere, decided to make Stolas this "uwu can't do wrong , who tends to get misunderstood by others" , instead of a more nuanced character
You say this so far but you don't know what the future episodes from what you've seen foretells we have to wait till he gets more characterization.
@@PixelNero Same they give me so much second hand embarrassment omg
@@nerdyandweirdybutmighty5256 yeah because she didn’t even want to marry him. It was a forced relationship so yet installers try to make it work out, but she never wanted it to so be nicer to stoals
@@josiahwilkins6864 that is another problem with the writing Stella is written as complete jerk just to justify stolas cheating and erase any consequences he might have it's the easiest and cheapest way in order to make a character that cheats on their partner appears as inocent as possible, even if they weren't in love there were still ways to make the relationship more neunced like once again diving at how the cheating situation affected Stella's public image Bec if We consider how old fashioned the goetia family are Stella is basically screwed she would get all the blame and lose any power she might have had wich is another thing that the show ignores i don't like how they act as if stolas is the powerless one in the situation when in reality he has full power over Stella and the same goes for Blitz the show completely ignore the power imbalance and treat stolas as the poor victim when he is the one that has full power over Stella and Blitz.

Why couldn’t they both be flawed? It’s hell.
I’m so sorry you went through that, hope you’re in a safer place now or at least able to reach one very soon💜

How horrible is your video, you seem like a typical hater of a fictional character, searching, searching, for all the errors of a character, that's fine, but the way you say it, saying... asking stupid questions, you seem like an insufferable Stolas hater.
I guess I'm not sure I'd call my daughter if her mother's put me in the hospital? We'll see if it's addressed. But ya overall I'm very disappointed by him.
Let’s be honest…Stella was also force into the marriage.
