Thoroughly enjoyed this weeks splash of sunshine, thanks Rudgey. Really shocked about the news on the shop/cafe side of the front in Argostoli 😲 That makes us really sad - i agree with your fellow follower Ian Edwards, it's the people who choose the island as a destination who spend the money there, not the stop by's.
We think the new paving was needed on the waterside but that need not be to the detriment of the cafés and the fruit market - it should be to enhance them.
Ooh and for any followers interested - we totally second yours and The Hobbit's recommendation of the crepe/burger house in Sami - we've eaten there a lot and food is amazingly good 👍 Looking forward to lots more of The Hobbit and The Bucket on your journey next week Rudgey 😉 ❤

I love Argostoli, I'm staying there yet again in a month. I'm sure after all the works are done the front will look amazing but for who's benefit? It is already affecting the local business with yet more disruption once the cafes taverna's and bars have to remove their umbrellas. Is it being done for the people that get off the cruise liners? The same people that get off the boat onto a coach tour and get back onto the boat, and never spend a penny. Ok some do have a look around Argostoli, but I'm sure there is more money passed over by the locals and regular visitors than ever by the passengers of the liners. It's a major step backwards, and making that road narrower is just going to create even more congestion along the front.
