I loved Lilissen's reaction to Madame Eva, every word in response was dripping with anger and distain. So good.

I realize that not everyone who uses the 6.5 out of 10 reference does so from it's origins, but this long time Heroes of the Storm fan got a big smile out of it :)

You make me wish I had waited to do the card reading. It felt shoe-horned in at the beginning, and players didn't heed it much until session later anyway. Did you do it randomly, or did you choose the cards? Kudos to the team who animated that card reading. The effects and the narration from Dragna were amazing.
The reading was 100% random! And I've definitely heard from a number of DMs who struggled to make an early-game Tarokka work-I think Twice Bitten has definitely swayed me into the camp of "the reading should almost always be run later in the campaign," but there's certainly room for discussion. Otherwise, glad you enjoyed!

Was this break really all about Van Richten being racist and lawful good at the same time? What's this, reddit?
I know in the US it's common to say racist every time there's any issue remotely correlated to an ethnicity, but Van Richten is not racist - he's blinded by the rage against a group of people but their erhnicity is not the driving motif nor is he ostile towards others ethnicities... Vistani is not even an ethnicity to begin with but a lifestyle. So no, racism is not involved here. And thinking so would require a very superficial approach.
EDIT. Dunno about US but here in Italy romani people were indeed guilty of occasionaly stealing child. There's even a couple of famous instances that went on tv.
So if the speaker is correct and a romani person said it is just a myth, that's very untrue and it would be just as if an italian like me tried to convince an American that we did not brought mafia over there some decades ago.

I just had my first session of curse of strahd (first dnd session ever for me) and we got to madam eva’s reading an hour in,,, and here you guys are getting to it after 27 episodes. are we doing something wrong ?
Not at all! I've run the Tarokka reading much earlier in both my other CoS campaigns, and it worked pretty well. Twice Bitten is 100% Rules-As-Written, though, and in the original module, unless you use the Mysterious Visitors hook, there's actually no hook to Madam Eva outside of the Vistani themselves! (Most people miss this, so you're definitely not alone there).
