I like your analogy. I think it's about balancing it out. On one hand, I love having collections of certain systems. But on the other hand, I like the idea of owning the game if you think you are one of the 10,000 people that deserve it. I guess we all pad our collections to a degree.
some people fail to realise that all of this is an endless exhausting chase of constantly filling voids. in the end it is just videogames and that is the best part about them.
Definitely a HUGE difference between just sharing games you find cool as hell and being “get it now before it’s gone” mentality. I love highlighting my favorite games, hell even jank ass shit that’s a hoot to play but if people wanna buy it, that’s up them. Cool video as always Steve! ✌🏻
I'm downsizing soon from a house to an apartment and because of that I've had to cull a lot of my collection. At first, I found it difficult, but the process has really helped me learn what I do care about owning and what I collected simply because it was collectable. I was definitely influenced by content creators hyping up certain items and I've realized I don't really care about a lot of it personally no matter how rare it is.
Yah TH-camrs do for sure create fomo, but honestly I’m fine with it if they’re just talking about how much they like a game. It gets annoying when a store closes down and those TH-camrs are like “Buy these now before it’s too late!” Making the price drive up. I also really like that mindset and it’s for that reason I really only buy games I really want rather than being another thing to add to the collection. Small collections mean a lot more in some cases. Also congrats on getting 10k!
I found your channel a few weeks ago and really enjoy your perspective on gaming. You're absolutely right about TH-camrs influencing the current state of gaming when it comes to FOMO. The retro game collecting has really gotten out of control lately. So many TH-camrs have helped inflate the prices of some games that were dirt cheap not too long ago. People are willing to be extorted for something because a person with influence is telling them they better hurry up and get it before demand/prices are sky high.
I just picked up an Odin2 handheld for emulating retro games and I love it. My idea is that I will be able to try out a ton of games I never got to play before, and if I really love them I could hunt down a physical copy or a strategy guide for the shelf. Very low investment cost (the games that is) and you’re not paying for games you don’t like up front.
Happened many times to me, and sometimes it's true a game I want will balloon in price to where I can't realistically ever get a copy. Sucks, but I've learned to live with it. I'm in game collecting rehab right now, haven't thought much about buying in over a month, minus black Friday. I like collecting music now, most of it is still super easy to get, a lot being sold new even if it's an old release. Stray is awesome, you've probably just convinced 10 more people to buy a copy by holding it in front of the camera, lol.
I don’t collect, I curate. I want my collection to only be things I love. The Criterion Collection isn’t a collection of every movie, it’s a collection of movies they feel live up to their standard.
Great topic Steve i do agree that TH-camrs like you just mentioned cause a lot of this fomo I didn’t even know about this concept until i started seeing videos of people saying it i feel alot of it is made up and done just to have an excuse to gatekeep games and make them more expensive with is a shame because theres people out there like my self that really want to play these games but can’t because im not willing to pay an arm and a leg for it great video Steve!
I am a PC gamer so I dont have any physical copies of any game I play I mostly play World of Warcraft, but I do collect comic books and let me tell ya its the same thing with comic books as it is with physical copies of games I have over 300 comic books and I just got back in to comic book collecting 3 months ago that's like 100 comic books a month I buy its nuts its like I have to have everything Superman or Batman related I am spending like $100-$200 a month on comic books and the funny thing is I never open them to read I just collect them they take up space in my room and it just looks cool. I guess we only live once so might as well enjoy it while we can right. Great video keep em rollin Ill keep watchin.
@ comics are awesome. But man I wanted to read spider man and he seems to have 3-6 series going at one time. Same for Batman. It’s hard to not read all of them and it’s hard to pay for all of them lol
Really love the 10 thousand rule. I've never thought of it like that, but its a good way to shift your mindset from, do I want to buy something, to will I really appreciate this? A lot of big collectors i think fall into what resembles a shopping addiction. I know for myself, sometimes I just want to buy something if I havent in a while, and i will pull the trigger on some games or items I was on the fence about. The 10000 rule helps seperate the desire to collect/buy/fomo, from "will i really appreciate this." Recognizing that first helps you be more satisfied in the end imo. Especially purchases which might seem good or ok in the moment, to two weeks later, 6 months later, 1+ year later, when you realize you didn't really care about it, and kind of wasted your money. The problem is that most people then would only own a handful of games tbh. I think a lot of people enjoy the chase/hunt as their hobby, so they'd have to fill that with something else.
People collect… Collect Games, toys, cars, photos, paintings, stones, clothes, figures, medals, coins, watches, shoes, cameras,Christmas,CDs,vinyls, movies, posters, cards…… lol collecting fun and just a part of our life… I am happy and I am collecting…
There come time when you have to start playing more and not just keep buying. What you don't like as much just sell. For me it's a specialmoment when I stand in front of my game shelf and pick next game to play. It's very hard to decide but fun.
I personally know that there are 3 gamestore owners locally where I live that specifically watch certain TH-camrs to see when they state games are "Hidden Gems" or whatever so they can jack up prices on their games.
You ever just look at your collection and seea game that you havent given a chance in a while and think, hey ill try that game again? Its crazy how the mind works, a game you know you dont like as much might become your next favorite game, its all about a mindset.
There’s a few games I’m planning to get to that I haven’t played yet. I was playing Horizon Zero Dawn the other day. Story is boring but the gameplay is fun. You’re right though, it’s good to give 2nd chances on things
Definitely gotta keep the games that make you happy to play and the ones that you can't see getting rid of but the ones that are ahhhh gotta go and use the $ to buy new games, that's what I do anyway.. my collection is around 70 games from maybe 400 at a high point .. keep up the good work steve!
I have a pretty good collection. Been playing and buying more these last couple of months because of TH-cam. I’ve been buying used/old games and get what I like and if I hear about a game that I never heard of, I just look at the gameplay and see if it’s my style of gaming
I've been cutting back too on collecting now mainly focusing on games I want to play and love from childhood used to think I have to collect everything I can get my hands on, but that lead to me having so many fucking boxes. I'm still little by little selling portions I dont play like my gamecube stuff have been trading it for stuff I'd love to have in my collection. It feels so much better when I've been seeing my collection slowly get smaller while being able to play through my backlog instead of it feeling like a chore to finish a game just to start a new one. While even emulation is a good alternative I like being able to open the box look at the artwork and flip through the pages of the manuals.
I'm definitely slowing down too. Only buying the important games from here on out. No more padding the collection for me. I have the same backlog issue as you do, at this point we all might have that problem lol
From an individual perspective, it could be a good thing. But I feel like there’s a lot of people that watch these TH-camrs with the intent of making money off of others so when they hear Metal Jesus for example praise how good a game is, they go online and buy a bunch of copies to ramp up the speed of the game shortage.
I understand what your saying, I have many games from my childhood that I'm likely never going to play and they are just kinda collecting dust. I'm not in a rush to get rid of them though but if I ever did decide to sell any of my video game collection I would keep the games that I love and just sell the ones that I don't have any attachment to. Even then I don't really even need the ones that I love because I have them all backed up anyways like all my gamecube and wii games are all on a hard drive connected to my wii so I don't even use the discs anymore but I would still like to keep the ones that I love the most since they don't take up that much extra space since I have a huge wooden shelf for them anyways but I do glance at the shelf sometimes and just think to myself that "less is more".
Make your own choices and collect at your own pace is the key and not being influenced by others as it’s not a race or get rich scheme. I think it’s an attention thing . I’ve been collecting 45 yrs since I was 15 but very rare do I share my collection espresso on TH-cam
I don't like people telling me what games to buy, especially TH-camrs who think I am missing out and I should get them before they're gone but I am always looking for recommendations.
Collect what ever game you feel comfortable collecting. You do not need to be an elite or complete collector. At the end of the day it just a hobby to enjoy, not a social status
first off love the t-shirt. raichu is my favorite pokemon (highly under rated in my book). I do believe TH-cam play a role in FOMO because some have click bate titles like must buy these. buy these before you need to sell you kidney to afford a copy. and I must say i have fell into that trap before. Ya maybe the game was fun for an hour or so, maybe not even that. Would I bought a copy if I went to my local game store probably not? Since a lot in my life has change when i unloaded my complete wii u collection and hundreds of more games too. Like bins and bins full. Sold all my video games before joining the military. Now been in for some time I do remember of having the "ability" to play a crap load of game, but in reality i never even touched 80% to 90% of them and thats been gracious on the percentage. They just sat there. Now im more settle in and wont be changing locations soon so I can get the remaining games out of storage and maybe play them. I have like 2 or 3 big totes completely full. I now know i would even say majority of the games don't bring me joy. Long story short, im okay not have a bunch of games that i might eventually play because i know for the most part any of the games i can just re-purchase if I really really, I mean really want a copy. If its an older title I can just emulate it. Now the catch for me is something is truly limited thats when I kinda walk the fine line. Yes I want this collector item version of the game because its my favorite series, but once i get it. Worth it at the end? Id say majority no. and another point is when I do have sometime free for games I do end up playing CoD or newer titles for the ps5 like boulders gate and things like that. Sorry buddy for a long long message, but your videos lately have been resonating with me and I want to share. ( I probably shared to much and the comment is very long winded) lol
I read it all man lol it's okay that it was long. For me moving forward, I think I will get back into emulation but still collect, except now I'll only buy the games that mean a bunch to me, instead of grabbing something for the sake of grabbing it.
Yes! I don't have many at the moment but I do have some. Mostly Genesis stuff. I'm planning to add some on my game hunt this weekend. I've watched your videos before, I dig your stuff!
@steviefreakinc Thanks for watching brother, yeah I was just wondering cause I know you're an og wrestling fan Like myself & I've seen RAGE CAGE on your shelf for the SEGA CD. Then It got me wondering what other Sega games you had.
@@MANNYSARCADEThe Sega CD game I bought only because I’m a wrestling collector. I’ve never played that game and I don’t even have the Sega CD to play it haha. Most of my Sega experience was with Genesis and a little bit of Dreamcast back in the day. I definitely need to get more Genesis games and maybe Dreamcast later when I get a console. I only have a few Sega games right now but one of my favorites General Chaos I was able to snag CIB at the local shop earlier in the year.
FOMO is real When the xbox360 prices spiked after the store closing. I fell into it and bought a couple games for double price it was going for a year prior. Now prices are coming back down…. Should have waited but I got scared
My buddy Heaaaps does a charity event on TH-cam for his channel each year where people donate games to a prize pool and every donation made gets a chance from random spins to get something. Last year was for Autism research. Its a fun way to get rid of games for a good cause.
5:02 Steve, Ghost of Tsushima is the first game I ever got the platinum trophy for and would do it all over again. I played it on every difficulty /image/gameplay setting and couldn’t get enough. What a great game
It's definitely my favorite game on PS4/PS5. I still need to play the DLC now that I think about it. I just beat the main game and a lot of the side quests.
Just buy and play what you like and if you see a cheap game you think may be uncommon try it. Some TH-camrs are likely just trying to get their eBay sales up and buy a bunch of copies of the games before they make the video
if I love a game and I know im going to play it again at some point, then I will buy a physical copy. if its a retro game then ill even go out of my way to have it cib because its worth it to me. that being said, I dont have a ton of games so the ones I do have are very special to me.
I don't have any games in my collection that I consider filler and I have an insane amount but if I did I would gladly get rid of 100 filler games to get 1 or 2 killers without a second thought. Thats just me thinking out loud.
I mean that's a good call honestly. I think the reason I ended up with such a padded collection is because a lot of these games are cheap to get, so I figured why not.
I bought a Steam Deck and a Rog Ally a while ago, the Sales are crazy insane, my backlog is just getting longer and longer all while the Switch is just collecting dust.
I had FOMO but it paid off for me. I started collecting in 2008. Prices on NES/SNES games were going up. I was watching prices go up by the week. I was in a mad scramble to buy up as many as I could. Now they're worth big bucks. I bought games like Castlevania Dracula X for $50 now it's sitting at $400. FOMO paid off for me. I only ever bought games I wanted to play. I saw what happened to the NES/SNES collecting scene and I had the foresight to buy up other games like PS1 and PS2. I got games like Rule of Rose for $100. I remember Kuon being $40 although I missed the boat on that one. I remember buying games like Silent Hill on the PS1 for $10. Games were dirt cheap back then. No one wanted PS1 Gamecube and PS2. My goal was to buy as much of it as possible because I had a feeling prices were going to do the same as earlier stuff.
This is a realistic view on video games, I’m tired of dudes with goofy smiles in their thumbnails like Mr Beast and so happy about every game/upbeat as fuck to everything…it’s ok to be real with your audience and I appreciate Steve that you’re always like a homie down the street we can chop it up with.
Thank you for the compliment bud. this new type of video style I’m doing is helpful and relatable to a lot of folks. I’m happy to keep doing vids like these as long as I have something worth talking about.
Right . I’m about to consolidate. . Luckily I’m cheap so many games I wait until I find it at a reasonable price. Some games I’ll never own . But then again I have $100 games I paid $5 for . That the fun for me .
Dude I literally just bought 3 games because I wasnt sure if they would go up in price haha. As for Stray, I am one of those people. I own it on Xbox and PS5 physically. That is a game that can be played by generations of people.
Not going to lie I just dusted off my GameCube and my collection of games after 10 years and I said holly 💩 I didn't realize how much I collected. Now I'm thinking about getting rid of some of my other consoles and games
@@steviefreakincI only keep track of ps3/4 games and I’ve noticed slight price drops over the past couple of years. I’ll just assume the big pocket idiots are just about done collecting and so it’s the naive collectors gathering up what’s out there, the ones that started buying after covid so they wouldn’t know the original price of video games
@@steviefreakinc There are a few examples that come to mind, Persona 4 arena ultimate and lolipop chainsaw. For 3D Dot Heroes and Puppeteer, last I checked were floating around $50, they were $90+ easy
the only systems im collecting for are wii, switch, gameboy/gbc/gba, nintendo ds/3ds and gamecube. I still own my ps3 but I slimmed down my collection and kept all my call of duty titles that I still play regularly. not interested in collecting for new systems anymore I sold all my xbox one/series games and ps4/ps5 games.
No offense to you at all, but I blame TH-camr collectors (and game collecting Reddit) on the state of video game prices today. They are basically engaging in a form of advertising; if they didn't make videos on "hidden gems" or "buy these now before prices skyrocket!" then a lot of current collectors would've been less likely to buy those games or even get into the hobby. Some are even purposely trying to inflate prices through their influence. I think if the goal is to have affordable prices, then the collector community is its own worst enemy.
For once, somebody said the same thing about retro gaming! I'm through buying retro games when I can just have it emulated on a hard drive/SD card... besides, these resellers messed it up for people like me, who would want them, play them, and never give it up... their prices are so disrespectful
I think if a lot of us moved to emulation, the demand for retro would go down and not only would it screw over resellers, it would make games cheaper for our collecting brothers and sisters. We just cracked the code
I kinda have done the filler thing but I've bought like whole bundles of games for great prices and sold the ones I already had but now that I have a little over 1000 games I'm getting way more picky about what I buy currently I'm collecting all the dragonball games
why does nobody talk about buying Popular brand tshirts today and keeping them fresh to resell in the future as "vintage clothing"? in 20-30 years todays $40 shirt most likely will be $400
What's up Steve, l here you sometimes filler has got to go, I like sports games too, games like NBA Drive 2002, 2003 version, and NFL 2k5 have a place in my heart, I still play NBA Live 10 because I like the soundtrack so much. Mr Wrongway he's got weird energy the way he does stuff. Building collections, selling collections, whining and crying about selling collections, then rebuild the same collection again, the guy is exhausting, I think he's bored, and wants to spend all his money on the next video game thing. He's a clickbait specialist. Anyway enough of that, great video at the end of day collect what you like, and trade what you like. Guys like us, Resellers can't manipulate.
I do believe TH-camrs influence the price in games when they talk about it, especially if they are making a whole video about why you should buy a certain game they are showing off. I collect for the Nintendo Switch and one of my favorite publishers is NIS America. I tried not to pay full price on New games, especially because i know 3rd party games go on sale a couple months after release. But for some reason, NIS America games retain their value and often sell higher after market. So this year ive had to buy 2 NIS titles at retail price because i know these games will eventually go higher in the after market. Not all NIS titles go higher but the ones ive been interested in have gone for more after market. Unfortunately FOMO not only affects retro but modern games as well.
I remember the fomo surrounding the Xbox 360 and suddenly you'd see all these collector TH-cam channels become obsessed with the 360 and need to have them in every single video they made. Now they're unhappy the prices are going back down and not up. Waiting for them to do the same thing when the PS3 store closes down.
@steviefreakinc Really liking PS Plus Premium for the sly cooper and blood omen games, also cheap to buy too. I'm in the UK and the first sly cooper game is £35 where its £8 to buy it digitally
I just collect games to play so i tend to buy cheaper games or i just wait till price goes down on newer games. I usually dont get more games till i play or beat the ones i got
Of course TH-camrs contribute to FOMO. That guy is really off the mark with his opinion on that. Really like these chill videos btw. Edit: Also, has your stance on collecting changed to the point, that you'll significantly lessen the games you purchase now?
It's a bummer that so many folks just chase trends and money. I think mainstream news doesn't do any favors by promoting the idea that those Nintendo games from our childhood are worth a lot. This just fuels the fear of missing out. A bunch of influencers online play into that FOMO too, all in the name of making a quick buck. Whenever I see an influencer pushing the idea of snagging something before it gets rare, it’s clear they’re just trying to inflate prices for their own gain. It feels pretty shady, but that's the reality for many getting into this hobby, focusing solely on profit.
Thats why I don't buy to many sports, or army games, because unless they are somthing quite different than the last one then they tend to feel like filler,, give me a Syphon filter or two, the best Metal Gear solid games, Black ops two for the zombie mode, sports games its Slugfest, Nfl blitz, maybe a Madden game or two, and I'm good on those, any game thats a sequal can feel like filler if the sequal is very simular to the last one.
i hate how "influencers" contribute to artificially inflating the price of games. if a popular person on youtube labels a game a "hidden gem" or something like that, overnight it can go from the dollar bin to being ridiculously expensive. i can't even count the number of times i've seen a game go from nobody cares to everyone has to have it
I dont really have filler. The only sports game i have is WWE 2k24 but, only cause i have the one with the cover art of Ripley but, it also have the svr colors. It was free on PS plus months ago. Although i have an extensive collection i only go for the games i played before and wanted to play. I have like 150 games and its small collection to alot but, to me its a big collection. Im not including the digital library cause i have waay more since the PSP and PS3 days. I know im not missing out on much cause i only buy what i think im interested in and not cause everyones buying it.
Mr wright way is a known scammer he does this in a number of Facebook collecting groups as well. For example he was in a Saturn collecting group and was posting all about going for a complete collection and many people in the group gave him deals due to this then he turned around and sold the entire set almost right after he completed it. That guy is scummy
Not going to lie I think those youtubers that record themselves in front of their giant wall of thousands of videogames are dumb. I have around 150 PS4 games, some still sealed, and have a hard time finishing or even playing those. Nowadays I just emulate and only buy games that I really enjoyed. Also a big f you to the scalpers and resellers that mess it up for those that actually want to use the limited edition items
Physical collections are not as popular. Alot of people just sell the game ince they are done. So you won't ever see used copies not avaliable When I was a kid, I'd just want every game. But now that I'm a responsible adult. I dont even buy games. Maybe I'll use christmas money to get a couple games. But over all I dont even really buy games very much.
@@steviefreakinc For Sure! I love that game so much ❤️ I 100% the entire game & then went back to the beginning of the Zelda catalog & have been playing every game. I'm almost done with Minish Cap atm
@steviefreakinc lol I guess you could say that 🤷🏻♂️ I just find the gameplay super fun! So when I finish a game i wait about a week or 2 & get stoked for the next lol Have you at least played Ocarina of Time? 🤔 If not I'd recommend a full playthrough on your channel (honestly any Zelda game) I'd be here for that! & I guarantee a lot of other people would would enjoy a "first time playthrough" by you 💯
Physical game collecting is great. Killer not filler

I try not to pay more than $100 for a game unless it’s an essential favorite
Good channel 💯
Thank you :)
The thing only i fear of missing out on is a heckinsteve video.
Can also thank MJR for my DS collection.
Thanks bud! MJR it someone to blame for a lot of collectors lol. He's been doing TH-cam for 20 years I think
I got into comics pretty hardcore for a few months back in 2016 and it was the same thing for me. Close to $100 a month. I had to get out of that lol
I just got back into comics but i buy em to read plus im trying to teach my ladies kid its ok to do other things besides sitting on a tv all day
@ comics are awesome. But man I wanted to read spider man and he seems to have 3-6 series going at one time. Same for Batman. It’s hard to not read all of them and it’s hard to pay for all of them lol
This is a good video big dog
Thanks Pompish! Hope you've been doing well.
The 10,000 rule is nice. Even if people didn’t follow it to a T, they would probably skip some games that they knew would be shelf warmers
People collect…
Collect
Games, toys, cars, photos, paintings, stones, clothes, figures, medals, coins, watches, shoes, cameras,Christmas,CDs,vinyls, movies, posters, cards…… lol collecting fun and just a part of our life…
I am happy and I am collecting…
Collecting is life lol I like it
There come time when you have to start playing more and not just keep buying. What you don't like as much just sell. For me it's a specialmoment when I stand in front of my game shelf and pick next game to play. It's very hard to decide but fun.
That’s where I’m at now. Less buy more play
I personally know that there are 3 gamestore owners locally where I live that specifically watch certain TH-camrs to see when they state games are "Hidden Gems" or whatever so they can jack up prices on their games.
That’s lame as hell
Thanks man. I might actually put a number on how many games I’m willing to collect. I think that could make it interesting 🤔
I have a pretty good collection. Been playing and buying more these last couple of months because of TH-cam. I’ve been buying used/old games and get what I like and if I hear about a game that I never heard of, I just look at the gameplay and see if it’s my style of gaming
At least you check out gameplay. Some people follow TH-camrs like they speak gospel
BRO!!!!! You literally said what I was thinking about Mr. Wright Way. He's a cool guy but his persona and how he handles criticism makes me cringe
Me too man. Sometimes he annoys me lol
Nice video, can’t wait to see you get back into emulation!
I'm thinking of doing a video on some Coinops builds or something.
I have the same backlog issue as you do, at this point we all might have that problem lol
very true how we (myself included) are influenced by other game collectors/channels on TH-cam
From an individual perspective, it could be a good thing. But I feel like there’s a lot of people that watch these TH-camrs with the intent of making money off of others so when they hear Metal Jesus for example praise how good a game is, they go online and buy a bunch of copies to ramp up the speed of the game shortage.
TH-camrs with large game collections are 100% at fault for FOMO. I’m liking these videos, it’s changing my perspective on my own collection
I also forgot that FOMO can be in things like Pokémon cards and collectibles TH-camrs are also at fault for that too
There is definitely FOMO all over the place my friend.
I'm kind of in a similar situation passing 600 games. Starting to think about cutting down the collection.
I’m still unsure if I want to cut out some of my games or just stop buying games I’m not sure on. It’s a constant struggle lol
It’s good to have a balance of physical collecting and emulation. That’s what I’m doing now too
Detroit become human is absolutely davod cages greatest game. Highly highly under appreciated its a shame.
It’s definitely a hidden gem sort of. I’m overdue for another play through
@steviefreakinc I concur
Dude the moment i found out about emulators, roms and games like bo3 that have whole communities built on modding. I never looked back.
I need to find me a good coinops image or some other front end for my PC. I used to use Launchbox. It's more simple but it gets the job done.
RNGs collection is insane!
It really is. Lol
Make your own choices and collect at your own pace is the key and not being influenced by others as it’s not a race or get rich scheme. I think it’s an attention thing . I’ve been collecting 45 yrs since I was 15 but very rare do I share my collection espresso on TH-cam
I can certainly understand not wanting to show your collection off on TH-cam. It’s your collection anyways!
I don't like people telling me what games to buy, especially TH-camrs who think I am missing out and I should get them before they're gone but I am always looking for recommendations.
Me too man. I also like seeing people’s collections
Collect what ever game you feel comfortable collecting. You do not need to be an elite or complete collector. At the end of the day it just a hobby to enjoy, not a social status
Absolutely. Padding a game collection is like putting too much ice in your cup. You end up with less soda that way.
first off love the t-shirt. raichu is my favorite pokemon (highly under rated in my book).
So many people doing this full set collecting, it's pretty ridiculous.
I know a few people doing that, it’ll never be me though :)
I think collectors naturally have fomo but it becomes hyper-fomo when you're watching other people buying these items.
Big true
Hey Steve do you collect any older Sega games for like Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast or Sega CD?
FOMO is real
When the xbox360 prices spiked after the store closing. I fell into it and bought a couple games for double price it was going for a year prior. Now prices are coming back down…. Should have waited but I got scared
Happens to the best of us broski.
My buddy Heaaaps does a charity event on TH-cam for his channel each year where people donate games to a prize pool and every donation made gets a chance from random spins to get something. Last year was for Autism research. Its a fun way to get rid of games for a good cause.
Hell yeah that sounds awesome
@@steviefreakinc He is hosting this years on the 20th and its going towards the Ronald McDonald house. His channel is Heaaaps O Games.
@ oh man, yeah you’re gonna love going back for the dlc.
Just buy and play what you like and if you see a cheap game you think may be uncommon try it. Some TH-camrs are likely just trying to get their eBay sales up and buy a bunch of copies of the games before they make the video
They’re certainly doing more than sharing their passion for games
100% agree with this take. All killer no filler in 2025.
I think that's a good rule for 2025.
Ha Ha, piggybacker
if I love a game and I know im going to play it again at some point, then I will buy a physical copy. if its a retro game then ill even go out of my way to have it cib because its worth it to me. that being said, I dont have a ton of games so the ones I do have are very special to me.
Quality always beats quantity my friend
I don't have any games in my collection that I consider filler and I have an insane amount but if I did I would gladly get rid of 100 filler games to get 1 or 2 killers without a second thought. Thats just me thinking out loud.
I mean that's a good call honestly. I think the reason I ended up with such a padded collection is because a lot of these games are cheap to get, so I figured why not.
that’s why i hate limited run, $15-$20 games selling for like $80 physically wtf
Yeah that’s lame as hell.
I bought a Steam Deck and a Rog Ally a while ago, the Sales are crazy insane, my backlog is just getting longer and longer all while the Switch is just collecting dust.
Steam is the best at sales lol
Many TH-camrs make people have fomo
Can we call these TH-camrs Fomosexuals? Lol jk
@@steviefreakinc trust me it’s appreciate homie! We love both roasting goofy resellers and these types of video styles!
I have alot of filler. But I intend to play all my games at least once in my life.
As long as the disc gets spun, it's money well spent!
Right . I’m about to consolidate. . Luckily I’m cheap so many games I wait until I find it at a reasonable price. Some games I’ll never own . But then again I have $100 games I paid $5 for . That the fun for me .
The thrill of the hunt is fun for sure. :)
On some real shit bro put me on the game collecting no cap
You having a good time with it though?
Dude I literally just bought 3 games because I wasnt sure if they would go up in price haha. As for Stray, I am one of those people. I own it on Xbox and PS5 physically. That is a game that can be played by generations of people.
It’s a pretty sweet game. Perfect for playing on the Portal too
the steam sales are making me feel like this i feel like im missing out on a good deal if i dont buy!
Steam always has cheap games. Don’t let it get ya unless there’s something you really like
I would only collect games that I throughly enjoy playing but not at these prices
Some of these prices are offensive these days
Not going to lie I just dusted off my GameCube and my collection of games after 10 years and I said holly 💩 I didn't realize how much I collected. Now I'm thinking about getting rid of some of my other consoles and games
Sometimes it’s nice to thin out the collection. Makes it easier to select what to play for sure
In my mind, I already have the game and I’ll get it one day haha that’s how I get by. No game is unobtainable
That’s true. There’s a lot of expensive games I owned when they weren’t worth much of anything. I bet we’ll see a lot of those be cheap again one day
@@steviefreakincI only keep track of ps3/4 games and I’ve noticed slight price drops over the past couple of years. I’ll just assume the big pocket idiots are just about done collecting and so it’s the naive collectors gathering up what’s out there, the ones that started buying after covid so they wouldn’t know the original price of video games
@ it’s also because a lot of PS3 games have been remastered on PS4/PS5
Just Nintendo stuff eh? At least those hold value and are quality games
No worries man. I’m a gamer and collector first before being a TH-camr. I want games to be cheap and available for all that want it.
Do a top 20! I think we have similar taste
I did my top 10 a few months ago!
Steve! 🫡💯
Ruodnoc!
I kinda have done the filler thing but I've bought like whole bundles of games for great prices and sold the ones I already had but now that I have a little over 1000 games I'm getting way more picky about what I buy currently I'm collecting all the dragonball games
I got into an argument w Mr Wright Way in his comments section about fomo. Dude's ridiculous
I have observed similar issues he’s had with people online disagreeing with him
why does nobody talk about buying Popular brand tshirts today and keeping them fresh to resell in the future as "vintage clothing"? in 20-30 years todays $40 shirt most likely will be $400
And it’ll be old and faded vintage lol
I reckon Wright way needs to collect and sell and recollect for content.
I better grab the few PS3 titles I don’t have yet. It’s not much thankfully
@steviefreakinc I've bought a lot of them digitally due to it being way cheaper than physical
@@darbship plus a lot of them are on ps plus
@steviefreakinc Really liking PS Plus Premium for the sly cooper and blood omen games, also cheap to buy too. I'm in the UK and the first sly cooper game is £35 where its £8 to buy it digitally
For sure man, I just buy sh*t that I like and that's that, don't really give a f*ck what's the worth of it.
Hell yeah broski 💪
Mr Right Way is garbage
I have a mixed review on him. I enjoy his videos 50/50
They call it collecting but in the end it really is a type of hoarding disorder.
For some I’d say yes. I don’t feel like I have a hoarding disorder at this juncture
Peak era for shooters was Black Ops / MW2. I honestly wish they’d just add those maps to black ops 6, I’d be content then.
i hate how "influencers" contribute to artificially inflating the price of games. if a popular person on youtube labels a game a "hidden gem" or something like that, overnight it can go from the dollar bin to being ridiculously expensive. i can't even count the number of times i've seen a game go from nobody cares to everyone has to have it
I dont really have filler.
I have heard that a few times. He’s such a jerkoff for doing that crap.
F the scalpers indeed. The worst resellers of all
Game convention coming up next month by me but not letting fomo get me to go and spend money
Good deal man. You should still buy a few things though just keep yourself on a budget!
Virtual cosmetics collecting isn't any better 😂
True lol
more like fear of insane price rises xD
Basically lol
Physical collections are not as popular. Alot of people just sell the game ince they are done. So you won't ever see used copies not avaliable
When I was a kid, I'd just want every game. But now that I'm a responsible adult. I dont even buy games. Maybe I'll use christmas money to get a couple games. But over all I dont even really buy games very much.
You don’t really need to buy them these days to play them. It’s like modern renting
lol if he ever sees this video, that gentlemen, he'll say your just jealous and probably pull the race card out as well LOL
Oh yeah 100%
I can't lie.. I get FOMO for certain things I see posted on Marketplace... Mainly Zelda stuff 😅 But if the price is right I'm getting it lol
Hell yeah man. I need to give breath of the wild another try. 💪
@@steviefreakinc For Sure! I love that game so much ❤️ I 100% the entire game & then went back to the beginning of the Zelda catalog & have been playing every game. I'm almost done with Minish Cap atm
@ damn cuh! The Dedication,
@steviefreakinc lol I guess you could say that 🤷🏻♂️ I just find the gameplay super fun!
