There's quite a lot of TH-camrs who like to do content with their friends every so often and it just doesn't come across as good as their normal content for whatever reason like the chemistry doesn't work as well on camera and it knocks off the flow, whereas every video you guys do together feels so sweet and genuine and is a delight to watch
cause theyre just doing the video idea, not searching or trying to force content during it or purposely trying to make it interesting. Just being natural.
"PS2" and "With my best friend" are both great things to see in a youtube title in 2024. Too many of us are making hour-long video essays in pits of loneliness where we have more screens in front of our faces than friends left in our lives (and I say that as introvert who actually kinda likes it, but, still!)
Man the pre-rendered cutscenes were such a trip back then. Me and my brother used to fantasize about how real time graphics would become that good in the future. Crazy that they've become even better than that
Right. Back then we would say, in the future this would look crazy! Now, i can’t imagine graphics looking better. Especially when you have games like TLOU and FF7 Rebirth.
Two games you should definitely try if you get a PS2 is Tekken Tag Tournament and Street Fighter EX3 there are also other games out there but it depends on what you are into
I love whenever we get videos with Terrell. Watching you both get so much joy out of each other and the games your playing is what gaming and friendship are all about. Gotta go tell my boys I love them now
I REMEMBER the PS2 launch DISTINCTLY. I have never wanted a new console SO BADLY and didn’t get one until a few months AFTER it launched. But anyway, I remember their being sentiment at the time from the “gaming media” that the PS2 launch library “wasn’t all that” because it was “lacking a Mario 64-style killer app.” Which is kinda crazy in retrospect because I think PS2 had one of the BETTER launches. They had a game for just about every kind of genre, even if it wasn’t like “10/10 GOTY material.” Plus, SSX, TimeSplitters, Tekken Tag Tournament, and Dynasty Warriors 2 were ENOUGH to keep me and my friends content and occupied for MONTHS.
Fun fact, Gran Turismo 3 was meant to be a launch title for the PS2, but Polyphony Digital's initial version of the game was said to have controlled so poorly that they delayed it, hence why the game has the "A-Spec" subtitle. There's also I wanna say ~3 cancelled launch games for the console that never went out of alpha.
At launch, PS2 development kits were rough with messy instructions (it provided at all), and it was generally harder to develop for. This would explain those cancelled games, until developers got acquainted with the hardware and games started getting better graphics, controls, stability, etc. Some games like Devil May Cry 1, released only a year after PS2 launch, were super well-optimized right off the bat and still play amazingly well. This game has never crashed for me in decades of playing.
So glad i found ryan in 2012 on my psvita when it had TH-cam his content over the years has been amazing and it's great to see his subscribers grow he deserves more for the content he puts out and also thank you ryan for the great content
I am truly grateful to still have this console and it being playable. I still have all my games that I had like 20 years ago that I played recently and man what a rush of nostalgia that was. I almost started crying lol
30:58 There are actually quite a lot of bike games nowadays. It's just a niche genre, so you don't hear much about it. RIDE 5, MotoGP 24, MXGP 24, SBK 22, Monster Energy Supercross 6 and TT Isle of Man 3 are all PS5 games that are part of ongoing bike racing franchises.
Ayyy been looking toward to this, love seeing the boys enjoy games/nostalgia together. I can already tell there’s gonna be a lot of “two types of gamer” moments. Terrell is the man.
Thanks for another great video I appreciate videos like this because I get to see different types of games I never knew were out there while seeing gameplay without buying myself thanks again
Love these videos. Ryan you do stuff that others don’t do. Just your channel is just an amazing and entertaining channel of wholesome moments, epic challenges, and so much rewatchablity
I worked at a restaurant in my town and was friends with the owners son when the PS2 came out. Of course he got it on day one, I was so jealous! I did get one for Xmas that year so I never suffered that long. I still have the first few games I ever bought for it. My favorites were Silent Hill 2 and The Bouncer.
I find the launch games from this and the next generation to be very fascinating. The final two generations to have big leaps in fidelity and graphical techniques. These "transition" games are very unique and cool. Edit: I think this is also why the Dreamcast and 3do are so interesting to me as well. Those consoles' entire libraries were basically "transition" titles.
@@PatrickVRegantrue I'll give credit where it's due but the PS2 had a lot more games not even the PS3 came that close to terms of game Library in North America and by the way the PS2 has the PS3 beat in terms of sales the PS3 did not sell well because of its high prices and the yellow light of death.........
I remember my launch PS2 experience. And in my area if you wanted to buy this console at launch we were forced to buy 3 games with it. Mine was Smugglers Run, NBA Live 99, and DOA2. DOA2 was the first fighting game I played where you can't block. There was no console scalping back then, but that didn't stop those retailers from taking advantage of us gamers.
Yeah that was first time I’d ever seen video game console scalping, it was super frustrating, retailers were always sold out but the scalpers were waiting around the corner ready to sell you a ps2 far over retail price, it was wild. Now it’s common place.
I absolutely adored Kessen. Still one of my favorite games to this day. Feel like the cutscene heavy drama was very influential on games at that time. Tokugawa's voice actor and movement capture was pretty insane for the time.
I love Dead or Alive , Ridge Racer , Street Fighter and Tekken but thew games shown here I'm good I prefer the other games in their series. I love seeing you and Terrel come together chilling and playing some games. 1:11:57 Terrel asking to retire is great. Cool video. ^_^
The title of this video bought a genuine smile to my face. Instant like and sub. I’ve seen your videos in passing many times the past couple years and watched a few even but, this one made me sub. Thanks for the good vibes bro ❤. I enjoyed a beer and a spliff to this🔥
Fun fact. The more you play the PS2, the more of those vertical towers show up on the PS2 boot up. Of the launch titles on PS2, I had Midnight Club, Street Fighter EX3, and Tekken Tag Tournament.
If I remember correctly, didn't Silent Scope also allow you to use a USB mouse. The launch PS2 had those extra USB ports and I remember some of the early games utilized those.
I’m almost positive you’re right on that, quite a few games could use the keyboard for the online and Age of Empires 2 was basically unplayable without the mouse.
Seeing the PS2 boot up for the first time and playing Timesplitters on launch day is a memory I will never forget. My Launch day PS2 is still running strong too.
About 3-4 days ago I sent a message on Ryan’s Instagram post of him and Terell having quality time with his kids. I said on my comment “you should make more content together or make a separate channel” and tagged him. Then this gem comes out not to long after my comment I’m so happy can’t tell if it was a coincidence or not but still great.
The jump from TimeSplitters 1 to TimeSplitters 2 in graphics was amazing in the PS2 days I thought. Glad you both liked TimeSplitters to 😎 I loved all 3 of them 👍 + this reminded me of the old days going around my friends house & playing all his games(he bought everything which was nuts) :D & I had to play some complete trash to(but luckily there were some gems in that pile of trash thank god that i bought after for my PS2. I only bought & played the good stuff) :D
Yes. I thought you guys really skip PS2 launch games, because I enjoyed the two videos of you and Terrell in that PS3 and PSP launch games. Because I enjoyed it a lot, especially the PSP launch games, I've literally played Tiger Woods PGA Tour game you guys did in that video. I never was into sports game, until I played that game. I mean, how can you not like this game? Thank God, you guys made a PS2 launch because there's a lot of launch titles in the PS2 when it comes to the games library of that console. Hope you guys do PS1 too.
I had a PS2 in April 2000 imported to the UK from Japan and the only game I had for it was Tekken Tag Tournament. It was awesome for its time and the bowling side game kept me and my mates entertained for months until I was able to get some more games sent over.
