A great amp with a lot of different tonal possibilities.
Fantastic demonstration, showing all pickup positions on cleans. Thanks
Love this amp! I have a Celestion V Type speaker in mine and a high gain Tung sol 12ax7...It is amazing both clean and OD.
TOP AMP-TOP SOUND-TOP DEMO !!!!
Great vid!
Came here with the intent of buying a Blackstar, came out with the intention to buy a Strat and a Blackstar.
Hi Jim,
I just picked up a used one of these for $450. I wanted to use it in combination with my Headrush Pedalboard. I used a Headrush 108 FRFR for a year and wasn’t super impressed with it. I tried a few different Celestion IRs also. With the Headrush, it’s a perfect companion. Simple and lets the Headrush dictate the EQ. With a 4 cable method you can get so many different sounds. I’ve also run the emulated amp head from Headrush into just the power amp and it sounds great.
I’ve had this amp for about four or five years now! To my taste, absolutely best amp I’ve ever owned! I have been able to keep up with a full band, but I really wish it had just a bit more headroom! It could be miked and that would solve that problem, but it still would be nice to have a little more headroom! I run the master cranked, to get power tube working hard, and dial the input to the amount of distortion I want! Also, I live in a small apartment, and being loud at home is Not an option, I’m able to dial in killer sounds below tv volume! A Really great amplifier, sounds like a mini Marshall plexi
Marshall-esk...without the fizz!
Haha, subbed. You make the amp sing, bro :)
Thanks for the demo! I am a bit puzzled by the Gain - Master selection as that sounds really loud on mine and not as clean. Do you adjust the guitar volume and tone to make it work?
Hahaha, i have the KT88. What do you all say now? I bought it a couple of days ago. Looks brand new. The dude i bought it from had only played it at home. Yaaaaaay! The speaker is just fine but i also use a 212 v30 cab and a old Marshall 412 cab. Great sound. Can not play it so loud so the i reckon it dosent matter much between 6l6, el34 or kt88. EDIT: i think the KT88 with its slightly different look is the best looking ofc.Haha mine looks more classy :) The other looks like the HT1 and HT5 combos. I also have 2 small ht1., one with reverb and one without. Also good amps.
dear Jim, your reviews are ALWAYS the best and most complete on the tube, no exceptions, and your playing is absolutely astounding! Love your touch and your musical taste.
How is the sustain on this amp? I had one of the studio 10 6l6 versions and although it sounded great the sustained died off pretty quickly. That's usually due to the cheaper output Transformers they put in a smaller amps.
A little late, but I have a chance to pick up a used one of these amps. Question is: Loud enough to gig with for clean/slightly overdriven country/classic rock&roll/blues (small area) Thanks!
Lets say if you bought one model and later decided you wish you would’ve gotten the other model could you just change the tubes?
For a minute I thought this was Mark Lucas ..
10 watts in a valve amp is more than enough for gigging, you might not think so because of the drummer, but when you put a mic in front of it, that would be loud enough to hang with a drummer. the only deal breaker i can see is, it's only a 10 watt tube amp, so there's only so much headroom you can play with. that being said, this amp would be too loud to use in an apartment.
This guy invented bread?
