Combine the Arduino Yún with a TFT Touch Shield and powered USB speaker to assemble an alarm clock that automatically sets alarms based on calendar events and even emails with the correct code word. This project uses the Temboo service to quickly build choreos, snippets of code designed to interact with services across the web. - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต
Love Weekend Projects, I watch them every week
ultimate troll machine
spam emails to the clock(they will never sleep again)
Can't they do the same with your phone, by simply dialling your number?
true
Very Cool Project. I like the idea of live notifications at the bed side.
Cool project!
RAIDO SHACK IS GONE I CANT GET THESE ITEMS
Wow, this is pretty cool. If I can adapt the code to start playing an internet radio station of my choice (or perhaps some music of my choice from my google music account?) on wake up I will totally give it a go...
Does this work only with Calendar, or would it be able to function as regular programmable clock as well? Also, with this, would I be able to function it to other arduino boards/breakouts/shields?
I would so buy this!!!
can i use an uno for this?
Can you also get this to play WiFi radio channels? Like a Clock/WifiRadio?
maybe you should make a function to dim the display (turnoff the background) when the thing is beeing idle for too long. else you probably will stay awake longer than nesseccary due to the light of the alarmclock. also, maybe make the color scheme black & red because it will preserve night sight better
EPIC!
That's pretty kewl. I've been trying to do a smart clock type project with and LED matrix from Adafruit but this looks like it might be easier. How big can the clock text be made? I'd like to see it without my glasses on at night? (with clock near bed). Also can you scroll text? I was thinking like favorite quotes to rss feeds and what not.
It can detect a hard drive going bad?
I have a Seeeduino knockoff Arduino Uno. Can I use this instead of the Yún?
hey you should put price of the project in desc or the video
Would it be practical to unsolder the Ethernet port and flip it over onto the other side?
does this work with the V2 of the tft touch screen from seeed???
does this alarm have to always be connected to a computer to work?
can you use the color screen with this?
I can't seem to find this arduino board. Is there a suitable replacement.
i have a question. can i make it able to recognized a voice or a clap? if so, how? enlighten me!
i'm very interested in this topic and would like to try to make it even better, but don't know where to start.
can i make this proyect with a arduino mega? (sorry for my english)
hey can you tell me where i can master in arduino
please please tell
Is a Yün Required for this project?
Can it be done with pi zero?
Is there a way to make it more wireless?
Cool - I want one.
I would love to have it as a watch.tell. me. if. can. it. be. done.
Can i use Arduino 101 insted Arduino yun??👍☺️🤔
Why does this error occur?
SmartAlarmClock:5:26: error: TouchScreen.h: No such file or directory
compilation terminated.
exit status 1
TouchScreen.h: No such file or directory
How can i resolve this error ?
I miss RadioShack. They have been gone for almost 5 years around home
can you do that with Arduino Leonardo
Can this be battery powered
Greetings Tony
Can this project be used with Arduino Uno, Mega or ESP8266?
If not, what should be changed in the code? Thank you
Can I use a one compatible TFT screen
Does anyone know a way you could take an existing alarm clock and be able to play video games on it with a touch screen added?
can you give me the site from where I can buy the parts .
that dog in the last scene omg
i thought about making one with a super loud speaker with an amplifier make it real loud since it's hard for me to wake up in the mornings
Did you make it?
@@sri-jh2xl no
Es steht nirgents wo ich dieses LCD display kaufen kan o.O bzw. welche größe es hat oder sonst was
I wonder why the refresh rate is so damn slow. It can have more than 10fps if coded correctly.
How many cost
did one wich gps
"You can also let others know how to wake you up"
That's a no for me dawg
can you make a smart watch which does all function like smart watches with oled display
Use the Intel Edison. Wifi, BLE, Linux, and Arduino support. Use the Sparkfun OLED board.
what if the power goes out ? what then hmm ?
Can i use a arduino uno with a usb sheild
I don't know if it would work with the code, but you would also need a WiFi shield to do that.
Great Project but you guys should really put the hardware cost. In addition the TFT used in this project is discontinued at Radio Shack they have a new version which requires you to modify the existing Sketch provided by Tony.
I like the alarmclock, but i would want one that can play either a webstream or random music from a folder on my fileserver.
And as commented in some other comments, a RasPi would probably be more suitable then. Yet it is still a usefull alarmclock that has yet another set of features i seek in an alarm clock.
can you do it with a uno
Alex Bernstein with processing yeah
My alarm talks, yet fails to get me out of bed Because it has to be regularly updated as I suppose that it is a backdoor. I just wanted a working alarm clock, yet alarm clocks are so modernized that now one cannot own one that actually works.
The Arduino Yún seems to be overkill for this application. For the money I could buy a cheap tablet and achieve better results...
can we use ardiuno uno for this projects
temboo.com/arduino or do a standalone arduino uno alarm clock
no, this needs linux and wifi. One alternative would be the Industrial 101, which is pretty much a Yun, but you would need to modify the code for a dogOLED, which is the only display it supports. You could also use a Yun Mini with a usb module on top.
Can I make this using arduino uno? Pls reply. thanks

More so it reminds me of a Pip-boy style clock.
Last thing I need is signals from the internet waking me up ;)
you'd think a smart alarm would have a snooze.
You could just use a pin extender so it doesnt sit on top the ethernet port.
now put it in a nice case and make the wiring a little prettier and you really got something
A “SMART” alarm clock would have the good sense not to disturb me when I’m sleeping!
TWO YEARS waiting for an answer!
s.m.a.r.t stands for- Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology
If the Ethernet port isn't used you could easily desolder is
يوم يصير عندي اردوينو
Make: plz can you make it so that it works with raspberry pi
You can name a bomb with dis :3
Now them Chinese can wake you up
it's like a smart phone, without the phone.
hmmm. looks like a bomb.....
Hmm... I se one huge irritating problem. If you get hack't. people can make you nuts!
When you try to sleep at night.
Uno compatible as well?
I don't think so. If u wanted updates from
The internet the uno wouldn't work without a wifi shield
Maraos Would an Uno with ethernet shield work?
Possibly. But it would require configuration and u wouldn't be able to use the program alone.
Okay thx
I prefer using a old Samsung Galaxy player device as a smart clock. Does more and got it for free
does your player realy do more? did you see the whole list of temboo's dirrent aplications you can use?
just attaching two boards together and downloading a pre programmed software and spending around 70€ for that isnt a good project
Or just buy a regular alarm clock.
Do one with a raspberry pi.
hi
I mean not a touch screen, just a screen
hook it up to kipkay's car horn alarm buzzer. :))
mediacoregroupph omg, please no... I don't want to be deaf upon impact xD
Oh like a cellphone
accept when you fed up with in and drop it in you cup of water
When you said TFT I thought of team fortress 2
I think raspberrypi would do better with it
We'd like to see that too. Let us know when you make it!
I can't, I don't the money to buy atleast a $2 - $5 TFT screen, and plus you replied fast ._.
xiironiix2 yet Make never answer my question on both youtube and their own website about the updated version of the TFT used in this project. Really dropping the ball here.
***** because of reasons
***** it would have a faster refreshrate instead of updating the screen every minute when the minutes or hour has to change its' value, and the code to do this on a Pi is in a way much easier because you can you Ruby, Java, and Python(all cross platform), and the last thing is the RPi has a ethernet port and usb ports which if you don't an Arduino Yun you're basically out of luck if you don't have a Wifi/ethernet shield
Instead put alarm on mobile phone
You will get up
Who would have thought of this? There's no RadioShack in Germany... Are we to dumb to use electronics here? Where should I get all the parts for this stuff? Also do I always have to be the only one who does have interests in such kinds of stuff? And I also bet there will be no lessons about soldering or making circuits in school. Though this stuff is really awesome, I can't do even the simplest of this stuff without any needed parts.
Anyways do any of you guys know any starter kits for basic circuits like something with a fan attached to a switch? I want to learn more about circuits and stuff, and MAKE cool things like on this channel.
Well I do like this weekend project,I'm sure it's fun to make things like that by myself!
I feel you, Europe is pretty much a desert when it comes to anything DIY or make movement related. If you live in one of the bigger german cities, try finding a little electronics shop like radioshack, but not part of a chain; I suspect you could find one.
If not, do the same online and if you can't find anything local, try websites in England, it seems they're not as brain dead as us on the continent, and some of them ship within Europe at decent prices. You should start by looking for "Arduino Starter Kit" on Amazon.de and pick a decent one; Maybe they'll also have a few basic parts like resistor and capacitor sets along with breadboards and stuff to get you started.
Best of luck
***** Thanks for your tip. The thing is just that I want to have electronic parts aviable near my location, if I want to do spontanieous stuff or need to repair anything. It's really sad that there is almost no DIY stuff aviable in this area.
But I will try to look for good electronics sites, and Arduino seems to be a pretty cool thing I guess ;)
Good on you man. And yeah it really sucks that we can't buy anything spontaneously, but hopefully with time you build yourself a little stock of parts and that gives you some capacity to react immediately to some things.
A good advice is to always buy a few of something, even if you only need one; You need a switch for a project? By five or ten instead, and maybe a few of a slightly different switch and keep growing like that
You're not alone. Here in Canada, we used to have Radio Shack. It got bought out by Circuit City, changed names, stopped selling anything useful and has been circling the drain for the past 10 years.
Where I live, there are a few good electronics supply shops, but they tend to cater to professionals and are remotely located, deep in industrial parks.
There may be no spontaneity in it, but eBay is your friend, in this case. Also check out Sparkfun, Adafruit, and EvilMadScientist. Good stuff.
Yoshio Tamiya If you are in Calgary, there's also Solarbotics (which does mail order, but allows local pick up)
In a few of the larger Canadian cities, there is a store called Active electronics (active123.com) They don't have the best prices, for sure, but they are a brick and mortar store, so you can browse what they have
Oh no, my local RadioShack is dead...
👍👍👍❤️👍👍
hm... "smrtclock@..." In Croatian, "smrt" = death
***** rofl that made me laugh
Devin Alexander :D
+Milan Karakas to je srpska rec nije hrvatska
+Alex Stone I opet dobro.
+Alex Stone - Does it really matter whose language is it!
I wish my smart phone could do that :-(
hi from future
Did no one else catch that subtle simpsons reference?
make weekends
or you can buy cheap android phone or tablet and have all that and much more
Use a raspberry pi!
Oh yeah, and you can let other people know how to wake you up. the troll is real.
Cool project but in my opinion it's absolutely useless unless you got no smart phone...
ethernet port... come on... this is 2014 ! cables should be used for terabyte transfers, a lipo charging circuit would have been much appreciated !
If someone knows your email address they can spam your clock...
im sure you can make a list that says wich emails are able to command the device.
is the screen ALWAYS on? That would be unhealthy, as one should sleep in a dark room!
Doctor alert
LMGN haha, no, I'm not a doctor, but I know a few and they tend not to have too much time to hang out on youtube :/
Kaito Kaze
oholololo :P
just modify the code
new episode of doctor who just came out, time to download it lol
I'm Triggered.
