I wonder if anyone had told may about Solberg and his history of crashing over his career, he's crashed so many times one nickname he ended up with was Henning Roll-berg.

Solberg was the greatest. And anyway all great drivers have to crash sometimes.
You really can't take anything away from Solberg though. 2000 meters on ice in 62 seconds.
That makes 116,1 km/h on average on freaking ice!

It's the art of going flat out through a one way road with no shoulders and massive drops covered with anything but asphalt in the middle of the boonies is some eastern European country in a Fiesta with 500 horsepower and a roll cage. You can't be sane to do that.

for real though that was legit impressive! Hammond being able to mount at the same time as the Olympic team and not slow them down deserves mad props!

and 4:41 always fires me up, the combination of the rally car going flat out and the tense music just gets me

That's still impressive. The car was 2 seconds slower than the bobsled.
I think if someone with a stopwatch was at the car finish line instead of James, the race might have ended differently.

+Aleron Adams First, it's not real. Second, they can't show him crossing the line and pushing the button at the same time, so they have to show the button second; even if it was real, they'd have to do that. It's like showing the sled and the car crossing the line...just because they show the sled crossing first doesn't mean that the sled won...just that they can't show them both crossing together easily.
+justforever96 What's not real? May riding shotgun? I have the Revved Up DVD (which reveals the secrets to being a TG presenter) and this challenge represents bravery in the sense that they get no stunt doubles.

Very impressive performances from both but credit is also due to the camera crew and editing team, this was an absolutely exhilarating segment.
Im surprised. I was sure it would be extremely one sided (in favor the bobsleigh) but the times are more or less even...

James really was the best presenter on Top Gear
I've done this in Lillehammer before both the summer course and the winter course it's insane I loved it.
I want to see this redone with a modern rally car
They did that in a modern mini cooper wrc car and it won that time
The key was to put Stig in Evo.
The stig cant hold the candle for a WRC guy, as a matter of fact the "Stig" is named after Stig Blomqvist, which was a famous Swedish rally driver ;-)

It amazes me how much filming was done for the race itself. The whole race was done within a minute, and yet the footage runs for exactly 2 minutes.
That Place should sell tickets for both experiences, I would do that over any roller coaster or theme park.
The part of the video from 5:51 to 5:59 is what a bobsled really feels like. INTENSE. Like, stupid intense.

This was in the winter special and in season 4. There was a rematch with the cooper but anything after series 12 isnt that entertaining.

I know this is old but It's actually 120km/h or 74mph which is still crazy in those condition.
