RC Powerboat Racing: Crash Compilation

2012 Model Power Boat Association Fast Electric Nationals.
As anyone that's ever watched these guys race will attest, crashes are very rare at this level. The video above is a result of combing through hours of footage looking for the slightest deviation from the racing line.
Alternatively I may have just whipped the camera out for 5 minutes on the second day after they've been up all night drinking.

Most have previously collided with another boat and are driving too fast to catch up. Also, after a crash, the battery can move, affecting their balance.

well every one whom races RC boats know its gonna be shoppy and ruff during the heat, i do not understand why so many Americans runs to flat V hulled boats..... more V shape and that solves alot.. sure not as fast as flat V hull, but it will handel the water better after 2-3 laps and the water is shoppy!

Most of the crashes are due to driver error. After a big wipe out you can almost guarantee the driver will drive too aggressively, attempting to make up time, and crash more. Sometimes the first crash moves the battery slightly, altering the balance of the boat and wrecking the handling. You can see this happen a few times - I always follow a boat closely after a big wipeout :-)
The videos were taken over two days of racing so I had a lot of footage of boats not crashing, but thought people would appreciate the crashes more :-)
Races last for 6 minutes, winner is the one that does the most laps. I'm an appalling driver so crash a lot but the better drivers don't crash much.
