Figgy pudding was,I think,Victorian. These days,we English call it Christmas Pudding. Its rich fruits and nuts, laced with brandy ,with orange peel ,suet ,flour and sugar.Delicious and normally served with cream or custard.Hope this helps.👍🇬🇧
I had no idea it was Victorian. Thank you truly for taking the time to comment! I made my first ever figgy pudding yesterday and it was so good! I couldn’t find suet so I used butter 😔 I made a brandy cream to top it. I hope you have a blessed new year!
@@texasfamilylife8397I'm really focusing on my relationship with Christ this year. Our family returned to church in February of this year and I was baptized on March 6th. ❤️
@ girl, that is a HUGE deal!! I hope you’ll do something special this year to celebrate your baptism anniversary! I will be praying for you and your family to continue to draw closer to Our Lord this coming year 🥰
We has salmon patties regularly as a kid. Momma would use mackerel when the budget was tight. I know buy the 4 pack of salmon at Sam’s because I still make them and my kids love them.
Looks like you did a great job on the shopping. All the time when I was growing up, my mom made salmon cakes (we called them salmon patties). I liked them okay, but stopped eating them as an adult because they just taste too fishy. I have started making a similar thing, using canned tuna. I also sometimes use dry oatmeal instead of flour. I also leave out the onion, as I can only eat onion very well cooked. If your kids are hesitant to eat bananas, try putting a little peanut butter or yogurt on their plates, and call it dip-most kids will eat almost anything with a dip! Also works well with apple slices and pears. It was so cute to see one of the girls holding the baby’s bottle for him while she ate a lollipop!
Haha you are so right, kids will eat anything with “dip”! I will have to try the tuna variation of salmon patties. I do enjoy tuna and so do the kids! Thanks!
I got salmon patties in fridge right now. I add chopped onion, salt and pepper, two eggs and mix that into balls, rollin flour, flatten into patties and fry till real brown on both sides. Also crushed saltines
I use can mackerel in place of salmon. More economical, I use one can don’t drain, one egg, one sleeve of saltines crushed. Salt pepper. Chopped onion is optional. I fry in olive oil for about 10 min on each side
Well this mirrors my life pretty good… I also had 5 then twins! They are almost 11 months old and my oldest is 9 lol. I don’t know how your video came up on my feed but TH-cam probably knew what was up 😂 Your haul looks like mine but we went from the convenience of grocery pickup to the more convenient delivery.. 😂 I’m a few videos in, when I have time lol, also a Catholic family so refreshing to see! Prayers your way and good luck with your precious babies!!
Wow that’s pretty incredible that we are on similar paths, I love it! 9 sounds so old but then I realize my oldest is about to be 8 😳 Hahah I imagine one day we will be doing grocery delivery, that just sounds like a dream at this point hahah. Thank you for your prayers, I will be praying for your family as well. Also I will take any twin tips you have to give 😂
@@texasfamilylife8397the best advice I got was to nap the babies at the same time and keep them on the same sleep schedule. This didn’t start until they were a little older though. I pumped two 4-5 oz bottles every morning cuz that’s when my supply was the best and I’d try to only use a little of it when needed then I nursed the other times. Occasionally I’d pump later in the day. I did this until I had over 60 freezer bags for backup. I only had to use very minimal formula this way, but I did get mastitis a loooot 😬 and one wasn’t a great latcher at first so formula would relax the baby just enough so that latching would go smoother. I actually didn’t mind the grocery pickup until one day one of the babies would not stop crying, it was enough for me to not do it again lol. I don’t do well with little babies crying on car rides when I can’t do anything about it😢
figgy pudding in england is a rich fruit cake which does use figs or dates if you cannot get ahold of figs, its an 18th century old tradition, today we just call it christmas pudding, normally served with brandy sauce, or just a traditional custard edited to add just use cheep fish or tuna to make your fishcakes, i agree salmon is expensive xx
Make sure you use your fingers through the salmon it does have these little white things in it I don’t know if people eat it but I pull it out the thought grosses me out. I just haven’t made salmon cakes in years my girls don’t eat much seafood. And I have crumbles up saltines and breaded them in it then fry them.
Ohhh creepy, that’s good to know! My kids enjoy seafood more than I ever have. I guess they get it from their dad (he has Louisiana roots!) The saltines are a good idea, I was thinking I’d have to go and buy panko bread crumbs.
Thank you! Yes they surprise me with the things they like to eat and the things they don’t like. It’s all very odd sometimes 😂 have a blessed week friend ❤️

Thank you tons and tons 🥰
We use tuna for our salmon patties. Have for over 50 years. Onion, egg and crushed crackers. Pat into patties with little flour and fry.❤❤🙏🙏xxoo
Using tuna didn’t even cross my mind, thank you! That sounds so easy and delicious ❤️

Everyone seems to agree about the crushed saltines! Really good to know since we always have them on hand.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Ah ok, I will keep the mackerel in mind! You’re right it is more economical. Thank you for sharing your recipe with me!
I add sage seasoning to salmon patties I also use tuna for patties too same seasoning
Sage is a great idea!
And I will also add a egg and breadcrumbs to my salmon or tuna patties
